Top Rated Detector at a Great Price

I did my research and the R1 is the lessor to the R3 only by the GPS features for remembering false alerts. Otherwise this is the same tech as the R3. Now the R1BBY is the special package for Best Buy which saves another 100 by leaving out the case and an different mount and cable. All is there to mount it to the windshield and lighter for power. Good value for the money.

    Excellent Radar Detector

This Detector: Uniden - R1BBY Long Range Radar/Laser Detector - is a top of the line detector. I have been alerted to police radar about a mile away in a hilly area. This r1 unit does not have gps and is about $100 dollars cheaper than the uniden r3 that has gps. I also own the r3 and have found I don't need gps functions since most of my driving is rural. I bought this detector on sale for $179.99, a real bargain for this detector new. Note that the Best Buy kit Includes only 1 suction cup bracket, car power adapter has no mute key and no USB port, and no carrying case, the Best Buy item description is wrong.

The R1-BBY is a phenomenal deal for a top tier radar detector. First things first this is a Best Buy exclusive and the only difference between the R1BBY & R1 is it doesn’t come with a travel case, a big single suction windshield mount & the 12v power adapter doesn’t have a built in USB connection. The unit and all functions are exactly the same. The detector has an OLED display with 8 selectable text colors which I really like because it matches my dash lighting. The menu offers a full array of settings to fit your driving needs. And most importantly if you drive/live where radar detectors are illegal the Uniden R-series is the best at not being detected by RDD’s. Ok with that out of the way what do I think of the R1-BBY? Performance is awesome I get alerts well ahead of seeing the source. I like that I can run it in dark mode which keeps the display off until it alarms or “off” mode just providing audible alarms. Unless you need the extra features of the R3 the R1BBY is a no brainer.

Uniden R1BBY - Great RADAR detector

I bought this detector primarily for highway use. The first time I used this device, It detected police RADAR well over a mile prior to me reaching the source. It has had exceptional range on all subsequent police RADAR alerts, giving me plenty of warning. The filters work very well as there are very few errant signals (sources other than police RADAR) that trigger false alerts. After much research and use of this detector, I am confident this is the best RADAR detector dollar for dollar in its class. I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend the Uniden R1bby

This is a special Uniden R1 bundle available at Best Buy. Was $120 less than standard R1 bundle. It includes the standard power cord instead of the smart cord and the basic window mount clip. Also there is no carrying case. These accessories can be found elsewhere for less.

Works great! Picks up signal from a LONG way out - I'd dare say every bit of 2+ miles if the signal is strong - I bought the Uniden wiring kit and used a fuse tap I purchased at my local auto parts store for $7 to wire it into the vehicle for a more permanent look than having a cigarette plug for the power - It has plenty of features and the menu is easy to navigate - You can change the colors of the display or even have the display off until there is an alert - Best bang for your buck

Been using a few weeks, works great, only a few false alarms from commercial store door openers. Detects radar from long distance. OLED display is nice and can be configured for color and brightness levels. Unit can be updated via your computer with updates from Uniden. I will say the mounting system could be better. It does not allow for angle adjustment against the window in order to level out the detector. Also, the two cup mounting system will not stick when cold. The windshield and cups must be warm or it will fall off the window. You might want to explore 3rd party alternate mount systems if this is a problem in your climate.

I bought this detector for 3 reasons. The first is because it is highly recommend as bring one of the best radars in terms of range due to sensitivity. The second is because it does a reasonable job of filtering some of the BSM systems and lastly, because of the consistent updates (that are free) that Uniden offers.

The radar detector is really good because you can make adjustments to the sensitivity, volume, city/hwy, colors and alerts. The power cord is sufficient for the job at hand, plenty long enough, although the RJ45 end is flimsy at best. Where the issue is, Is the suction cups for the mount to glass. They are absolutely Worthless. There isn't one good thing to say about them, Nothing. The cups will not hold, I boiled them in water and they still won't hold. There isn't anything you can do about them. I can't understand why Uniden would have such a nice radar detector and yet include such absolute trash suction cups. This is managements idea of cutting corners. Really just exactly how much more would it cost to have a decent and proper suction device. Really !!!

Very good radar detector for the $. Less expensive than the R3 with almost the same features (lacking GPS) and GPS lockouts. Accurate with less false alerts than my escort rx65

I bought the bby version of the R1 and used the extra cash to get a blendmount and hard wire. As it functions just like the R1, this was a great option for me. This detector has been great. It has fantastic range in optimal conditions and good range in more challenging conditions like off axis radar around corners or behind trees. I like the customizable settings and adjust them based on the trip I’ll be taking. Uniden also updates firmware often which I’ve take. Advantage of. Detectors with GPS lockouts are twice as much, but still. I’m wishing I had one with it. Even though most of my trips are more rural, I’ve wished I could lock out the the known automatic door falses around town. Blind Side Monitor falses cause many detectors to false. I haven’t had a different detector, but I hear these are good, but not the best in the makrket. I get a few falses but not enough to drive me completely crazy. Overall, for the price, it’s hard to beat this detector. I do wish I had GPS and arrows, but the detection performance and features for this price are a huge bang for the buck.

With a cross county move coming I decided to invest in a radar detector. After a great deal of research I decided on the Uniden RR1 and couldn’t be happier. You know in plenty of time a police officer is using radar. I get very few false indications. I recommend this for someone not wanting to break the bank.

This radar detector is only second to its bigger brother the R3. The R1BBY is a stripped down version of the R1(you don’t get the usb outlet and the 1 suction cup). The R1 & R1BBY both lack the GPS feature that the R3 has. Other than that you can expect a 3+ miles detection range.

This radar detector has saved me numerous times and has paid for itself self many times over. It picks up K-band at least one and a half miles away on the highway. Honda’s sensors make it beep when you get near one. Laser detection is much shorter ranged and if they are pointing it at you it doesn’t matter anyway because you’re busted already! I just wish it was solar powered with a battery to eliminate the wire but for the price it is perfect.

Amazing product! If set up correctly this will definitely save you from getting a ticket. This radar can catch a police KA signal from about a mile and a half away, and that gives the user plenty of time to slow down. A downside to this product is that the K band goes off to automatic opening doors which can get annoying someone. Overall great product!

Very good for the price. Will get another windshield mount for the 2nd car. After the last firmware update it seems to filter more false alarms so it is noticeably quieter. Detection is great so far.

This radar detector works very well; I like the options for what type of roads you’re traveling and the different bands. It will pickup automatic doors of supermarkets etc but it’s easy to use and I’ve had no issues of radar detection being to late.
