This radar detector hasnt failed me yet, it picks up signals miles ahead. I'm never caught off guard! When its time to biy another unit, it will be the same brand.
So if you are in the market for a radar detector that will keep you notified of potential hazards both in the area and miles ahead; then here it is...get you one!

I have been a big fan and supporter of uniden. I own the R3, R7, and R8. For an entry level stand point and ultimate range the R3 is great. The negative is uniden is knonw to be a more noisy radar however this does improve with the R7, and R8. My R3 has had zero issues. If you are in the market and looking for an evtry level radar with great capabilities the R3 is simply the best

I used many different radar detectors and I've made multiple searches and hadn't figure out what are the exact differences between cheap and very expensive radar detectors. Finally I've found a good video that the guy tested a $600 Escort, Uniden R3 and a cheap Cobra. This one detects the radar a little before Escort does and doesn't give any false alarms like cheap Cobra does. After watching that video I purchased one Uniden R3 for all my cars. I've been very happy and if you read this review don't look no more lol.

I have the R3 for about a month now. I was previously using a Whistler CR90 in the same vehicle and i own a Beltronics RX65 in my other vehicle. The Uniden alerts are coming through about 40-50 yards ahead of where my CR90 used to. I like the fact that this unit has "quiet mode" to silence alerts when driving at a set speed and mute memory which will auto mute certain frequencies that have been "marked". I took a trip last week and while driving up a hill on the interstate my radar went off out of nowhere. i looked around didnt see anything, i let off the gas from doing about 20 over the limit and just as my truck got to about 6 miles over limit when i got to the top of the hill there was a MS. State trooper sitting and clocking. Easily would have resulted in a ticket as i was certainly speeding midway through an 8hr drive. this unit has already paid for itself. there are tons of customizable features so you kind of have to pick your preference at that point which is what makes the ease of a little timely to get the hang of. overall, the range support is very good. i still think my Beltronics edges this one in range, but the radar signal view is what wins for me. also dont disregard the X band, ive come up on Sheriff vehicles that still use the low X band because of its range. i use full band even in city and since i can mark to mute certain frequencies im not fully annoyed with it ringing. id rather hear the alert than see the blue lights.

This thing is great. Saved me a few times already very good range. This is for radar that police shoot so it won’t pick up police not using radar. That’s where your runner comes in. Some cars give off false alerts that are a low freq like ka 34.202 and a police radar would be something like 34.715 <police in my area

The Uniden R3 is the gold standard of radar detectors for a reason. It is full featured and fully customizable. It dependably detects all the frequencies currently in use and can be customized to turn off the annoying false alarms for your area. It's easy to set up and use. You can literally just take from the box, put it on your windshield, plug it in and go. The range is good and the sounds are distinct. It will detect traffic light cameras and speed signs. It will pick up signals that come from behind. I could not be happier with this unit. For a full set up guide, look up Vortex Radar on YouTube.

If you are looking for a radar detector with all the vital features at a slightly lower price point, look no further than the Uniden R3. With full customization, from adjustable band sensitivity to various tones for each alert, the R3 is truly a device that can improve anyone's driving experience. The built-in GPS allows for manual location lockouts and red light camera spotting, while the low-speed muting and traffic sensor filtering help fend off false alerts.

I have had many radar detectors in the past but Uniden detects laser and K band signals far ahead in advance and you cant beat this for the price compared to others in the market.

Hands down, the best detector on the market. Coming from the V1 gen1, the range on this thing is awesome. City mode is my favorite setting because Ka is still at max sensitivity but it dials back K and X (neither which I encounter in my daily driving). Tweeking low speed muting, using City mode, along with the BSM filter, this detector is top-notch. Vortex Radar is a good source of info and test results...see for yourself!!!

I have been using the R3 for over a year. Wow this thing has good range! The GPS memory is solid and eliminates a lot of K signals all over town. It has plenty of memory space to store locations. The customizable alerts are a big plus. GPS speed indication is a benefit since my speedo is off due to oversize tires. The mount could be more robust. It broke after a year due to vibration fatigue. I found a better mount on Amazon though. Reading/watching reviews the R3 is just as good as the R7 just with a couple less features but at a much better price point. I would definitely recommend!

Uniden r3 works as advertised, long range, with gps, easy as it was set for your state used radar and mrcd, wonderful! Price is a little expensive compared to amazon

I have used an older Escort model for many years and decided to upgrade, after studying the myriad of options and reviews I decided to purchase the R-3. So far I have been pleased with the results and range. It is superior to the older model I was using previously and I am glad I decided to upgrade. IT has several useful features, I like the user mark function using GPS, as well as the vocal alerts to the type of signal detected.

After fine tuning and using mute memory for local stores with automatic doors. This is a device that I cannot drive without, because it has saved me at least three times in the first week I've had it. My last reading, no joke was at least ½ to ¾ of a mile before I ever saw them.

I’ve had multiple radars ever since i was 16. I recently bought this one about a month ago for a trip down to south Texas and it came in hand so much, it was so accurate with it’s readings I highly recommend this product to anyone it is a little pricey but its still cheaper than a speeding ticket.

Best radar detector for the money.
Very long range. Easy mounting options.
Check out Vortex Radar, he is a pro when it comes to radar detectors. He will show you how to set it up properly.
Only downfall is the false alerts from Hondas, Acuras, and some Chryslers. These alerts come from their Blind Spot Monitoring Systems. You will quickly learn the false alert and it becomes second nature to ignore them.
I do not drive excessively fast, but it has certainly already paid for itself. The range is so good that I have plenty of time to slow to the speed limit before getting close enough for LEO to identify my speed. Buy now!
