Best radar on the market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best windshield mounted radar on the market as far as functionality and performance. If your on the fence about it, just get it. This radar has directional capabilities through the use of arrows. The arrows indicate the direction the radar signal is originating from. The benefit here is that one can quickly determine if the radar source is in front of, behind, or to the sides of their vehicle. This is something that, once experienced, is hard to live without. There are other detectors that offer similar range / sensitivity but they will leave you guessing as to where the radar truly is. For the benefit of the arrows alone it is worth the extra expense to get the R7. The range is outstanding and the display can show up to 4 independent sources of radar simultaneously. This is helpful in determining if there is more than one radar source in an area that may normally have a false alert. The built in GPS functionality allows you to mark known false alert areas so the radar will not go off when driving by the same source or radar. Think automatic doors that may set off a detector, those can be locked out and are location specific. I have not had any issues with blind spot detectors on passing cars setting off the detector. Uniden has exceptional filtering capability in their detectors for this. Some other brands of detector or lower piced / older models will give false alerts when a blind spot detection equipped vehicle is nearby. The R7 largely doesn't have this issue. Uniden also rolls out firmware updates that truly improve the function of the detector and provide exceptional support if needed.

Consistently emits false alerts
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a junk radar detector. It cannot filter out the blind spot signals in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, and made alert sounds every time I passed another vehicle, or if another vehicle passed me on the highway. No way to filter these out. I returned it back to the store.

The WORST of the WORST
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a $230 speeding ticket the day after I purchase it. The cop used Laser to get me and the detector didn’t even blink a light. It’s back in the store, if you want a ticket go ahead and buy it.

best option out there
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been thoroughly impressed with this radar detector since I opened the box. It comes with all necessary attachments and cables, you dont need to buy anything. It even has a well made travel case to keep it protected when not in use. The screen is larger than any detector I've seen, and they sure do make use of it. It has a laundry list of options but there were a few that stood out to me. - a "screen saver" mode. While the screen is large and easy to read, sometimes it can be a little distracting. DARK mode keeps the screen black accept for a flashing dot on the lower left corner, until it detects something. Then the screen comes back on full and you can see everything until the threat is out of signal, at which time it will go back to black. -options of the screen. like i said, they put the size of the screen to good use. it shows speed and direction of travel, sensitivity, time, band and frequency of radar(can even show multiple), and direction of detection. It can be busy but once you understand what it all means its great! - you can set it to mute if you are traveling under a certain speed. This detector can be chirpy, and if you're traveling at or below speed limits there's nothing to worry about. This detector truly does it all. If you have the money I highly recommend. The only con I could find it that the buttons on the detector are too plain and oddly placed. I would prefer them to be a little easier to see

Great on radar detection , blind to laser.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is so good it will detect radar sources so far sometimes you will wonder where the cop is, I have actually measured detection ranged all the way to 3 miles in ideal conditions, this may be excessive but this extra sensitivity pays off because not all radar is emitted in ideal conditions such as constant on in a straight flat road, many times radar is around bends, hills, mountains and/or heavy foliage that can make your detection go from 3 miles to 2000 feet , which is just outside the range of their readings , 2000 feet on a cheap detector may be 300 feet , when it is too late, you turn around a bend on a mountain road and bammo! you are ready for the road side disco, this problem is worse if the LEO decides to run instant on radar where they selectively pick their targets to get a reading from, which if you are lucky with a unit like this they may hit someone before they hit you, every bit helps. With laser it may or may not go off, if I had to rate this detector based on laser detection it would get a 1 star, but really laser detection is not reliable on even the best detectors, once you detect it you are probably toast , Waze and laser blinders is the solution to this secondary threat. Detectors are not police detectors, they listen to and warn you of radar, many times that radar emits of other cars with blind car monitoring systems, somtimes automatic door openers at shopping centers, for the amount of range this unit has the filtering is excellent, if you set the K bank notch filter on and adjust some settings you can ride on the interstate in extreme calm with very few falses (maybe a couple of beeps per hour ) . Radar detectors are not fail proof, and even with all the counter measures in the world you can get ticketed ,they are tools that need some learning to get used to , also using them in combination of other tools such as waze , radio scanners and even laser blinders is needed to give yourself a fighting chance. Cops are aware these devices exists and are always finding ways to try to fool counter measures to continue to fill their city coffers with gold , it is a battlefield out there and these tools help you even the odds. These tools are not meant to make people start driving recklessly, they are meant to prevent road side tax collectors from speed traps such as when the speed limit drops from 60 to 30 by a small town and they sit right past the sign when you are just coasting down to the speed limit. Update the detector as soon as you buy it as it has some important updates needed to make the detector perform better and be quitter ,also find out if your car is a K Band radar singal emitter through their blind spot filtering, famous for this is the Chrysler Pacifica, some new hondas (although this was fixed with the newest firmware) and other cars, or else this detector won't work in your car. Read RDFFORUM.ORG to learn how to use detectors properly A couple of tickets saved and this unit will pay itself off.

awesome performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The range of this detector is amazing. Alerted me of Ka radar 90 seconds from LEO heading in opposite direction while doing speed limit 65 mph, so theoretically got the first blip about 3 miles away. It's quite a bit bigger than the R3 it replaced but I like the bigger display. The arrows are great - it's real nice knowing where the radar sources are! Pricey, yes, but I figure I'll be using this thing for years anyway and just one save makes it more than worth it.

Awesome Coverage!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who speeds from time to time, I was anxious to put this radar through its paces. My route to work consists of lots of police patrolling. This radar detected their presence from afar. Thus far, it has not given me many false alerts, which is a problem I encountered with my last radar. A main concern that I had was cost. However, the performance of this radar has put my mind to great ease as it truly does what it’s supposed to do and that is provide detection of radars. This piece of equipment will pay for itself as it will save lots of money for possible tickets.

Complex to set up, but excellent purchase overall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had this radar detector for more than 3 years. It's not plug and play as it has a lot of features, even display colors and options. It can be a little difficult to set up. Radar detection is great. Much better than the other brands that I have owned in the past.

Don’t waste your time on anything else!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WORTH EVERY PENNY! The range on it is insane, and being able to tweak any little settings helps a ton. Mute memory allows you to mute the pesky automatic doors and such. Red light camera detection warned me there was a red light camera ahead about 2 stoplights previous. It continues to impress me everyday. Even if you're not a techy person you just plug it in and go with default settings. There are simple mute buttons. GPS allows you to see your speed right on the detector, and also mark common places that a "radar" may be detected. Definitely going to put one in every truck.

Lots of bells and whistles
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm coming from an older, battery operated radar detector that doesn't really have many features, so getting the R7 was like a rocket blast into the future. I had no idea what things I was missing with the new tech available the last few years. Anyway, I find that the Uniden gives legitimate warnings far more often than false alarms as opposed to my older detector in which the false alarms far outnumbered the real warnings. So, in my book this detector is great already. All the extras, like the arrows, etc., are gravy to me.

Sweetness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I upgraded from the R1 and couldn’t be more happy. This radar detector is the king of all detectors. Range is unbelievable and the arrows make it 5 stars. I’ve owned every brand of detector from whistler to escort starting back in the 80’s. Hands down the best!!

My first radar detector and I love it.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never been one to use a radar detector but the Uniden R7 has converted me. I thought radar detectors would just disappear into obsolescence because of phone apps but once you use this one you realize that phone apps don't give you the full picture. As I un-boxed the R7 I was immediately greeted with an awesome soft clam shell case. Within the case was the R7, Power cable, USB cable and two different style mounts. In my use, I chose to use the larger suction cup mount. Which was the best suction cup mount I ever used. It stuck to the windshield and was just about glued to it. The next thing I liked was the unit itself. It told me my current speed, let me know where all the red light cameras were and alerted me to any speed radar in my path regardless of the direction it was coming from. Another thing I loved was that the tones it makes were not as high pitched or startling as the radar detectors that came before it. I highly recommend this radar detector and may even get another one to give as a gift.

Does what it is meant to do
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven’t used a radar detector in years so I was interested to see how they have come along. This device pretty much covers all types of radar. It’s easy enough to set up. I used the Velcro Mount for the dash since I didn’t want to have it show through the windshield. It’s a little bit bulky but not bad. I haven’t had the opportunity to use the signal camera tracking yet. Overall seems like a good option.

R7 is the best!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.{January 5,2024} Best detector I have ever had #6. i love the arrows that show what direction the signal is coming from. Almost 4 years old and still works like new. If it ever dies or gets stolen I will buy another R7. I'm 76 years old and my first detector was a fuzzbuster in 1966 that was Garb... R7 is the best! Long range detection. lots of user freindly settings.
