The distance is very good. I've only used highway mode and I hear alerts long before I see the officer running radar. The directional arrows are great to help understand where the alert is coming from. I do get a lot of nuisance alerts for blind spot monitors and automatic door sensors in stores on k band. Near shopping centers, its pretty constant but it can be made less sensitive in city mode. There is also a mute button on the charger. It seems like the speed cameras alert stronger on k than the false alarms and are easy to pick out. Also if its a known speed or red light camera location, it will call it out with a different alert. So far it seems like all but a couple of the officers I've seen in Maryland are using ka band which is a different alert and easy to recognize. This also has gps so if there is a false alert that you drive past everyday, you can mute it by location. I wish I bought this before I got some hefty speeding tickets.

While this radar detector is the best currently available, it is nonetheless overpriced. I have owned several radar detectors since the very first Passport, which is still the standard upon which all subsequent detectors follow. That standard is small size and simplicity. The R7 fails the small-size criteria, but excels without relying on gimmicks requiring subscriptions with further expense (are you listening Escort?). A top line radar detector should be maximum $500, and the industry will price itself out of existence if it continues its upwards trend.

I’ve had 4 or 5 different escort radar detectors wife has my escort 360 in her car now the R7 simply just see’s the radar first . It’s the best I’ve ever had and or know of my wife bought me the r3 at first and I returned and got the r7 but the r3 is just as good but without the fancy gps stuff and no arrows

Great radar detector. Big bonus points for it being able to tell what direction the radar is coming from. Easy to use. Love the muting feature.

Very sensitive as described. Lets you know red light cameras too. The menu was a little confusing, but after reading the manual, it made sense and now I have it setup just as I want it. Has an altimeter to show how high above sea level I am, hope it does not go negative. Saved me a few times already. I am very happy with this purchase.

I upgraded from the escort passport max detector to the r7 and could not be happier.. The detector is great out of the box but has options to tailor it to your liking if your a radar nerd like myself lol... Also the redlight camera updates are free from uniden where as escort you had to pay for a subscription service for updates... The range is stunning on ka band esp 34.7ghz

This detector is a beast so much so you need to dial the setting quite a bit to make it work the best for your usage. This this can detect KA over 30 mile with 100% accuracy. This device is worth its weight in gold. If you need help configuration is here —> https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vortexradar.com/2019/04/how-to-set-up-configure-uniden-r7-radar-detector/

This is my fourth R7, one in every car in the family. R7 interface is intuitive and firmware update is easy too. It has very long range and one of my favorite function is the auto mute memory which blocks out false signals by GPS locations

Lives up to the Escort name. Very reliable with minimal false alerts. GPS allows for “smart mute” of known locations of false signals. This is done automatically while in advanced mode. Well worth every penny.

I've been a longtime user of Escort-branded radar detectors but finally made the switch to Uniden based on the long range claims and the directional arrows. This detector reminds me of the Escort Redline in terms of distance and accuracy is quite good - I would feel confident using this on long-distance drives or in areas with multiple speedtraps. Only gripe is the odd shape of the detector and the overall look seems dated for a detector that just recently came out on the market.

I like it much more than the Valentine 2 because it displays the frequency on the screen. That way you can ignore Chrysler and Honda lane keeping radar. Had the R3 but love the arrows with the R7. A little noisy until adjusting the settings suggested by VortexRadar on YouTube. The new suction cup mount is a big improvement too.

Great radar! I haven't owned one in years because all the older radars seemed to pick up more stores that cops, but this radar is completely different. Just drove from Michigan to Florida, and I'm very happy I bought this before I left.

The Uniden R7 is a remarkable radar detector. It receives radar at extremely long distances without an issue. The only downside I would have to say is that there is a lot of K band that you will pick up on the highway. Mostly form blind spot monitoring vehicles. If you dont mind that, and want an outright performer the R7 is for you.

This has been a wonderful radar detector and an upgrade from my R3. I think the best thing about it are the arrows that help give you a general area where the source is coming from. I think the only downside is that it’s bigger than some detectors.

Excellent radar detector. Easy to use out of the box or to select advanced settings. Auto memory was set after a week of driving usual route. Great accuracy and detection distance for actual positives. Didn't hurt that it was on sale at the time too.

The R3,R7 and R1 are not the most user friendly of detectors out there. It takes a half hour or so of research on your area and setup, and it will K band false more often than other detectors. But the range. It's insanely good. Well worth it to me, and if you live in an area where K band is not used, this detector is the stuff.
