Replaced Valentine V1 gen 1 (latest update). Testing side by side saw a big improvement! WAY less constant K falsing due BSM and other K devices. Within one week the R8 twice detected single long range Ka pulse and the V1 did not. Police had pulled over a car 1+ mile ahead. The Ka 99.9% guaranteed police "whistle" tone on the R8 gets your attention vs the V1 where you have to squint at the display due to same tone. V 1 26 software added Bluetooth. The auto mute memory is improved. Auto mute is not available the V1 since it has no GPS. Finally got tiered of waiting on Valentine's now non-existing customer loyalty upgrade. Have two units for 24 years with updates. They did me a favor. Now own a superior R8. Use Vortex Radar settings for imprive results.

I’ve had multiple Uniden radars and they are great especially the R7. Have one for each of my vehicles. Less false alarms and has saved us from getting stopped on quite a few occasions because of our speed. Highly recommend, it’s a little pricy but totally worth it!

If like to get somewhere a little faster than the daily cruiser. You'll need some coverage, sincere someone will be looking out for you! This does well all round for a peace of mind. Exceptional range! A bit pricey! No over the air updates.

Amazing unit. Worth the coin? You bet it is. Saved my bacon 20 minutes after leaving the store. I was heading into a little town square and it started going off with a slow beep that was getting faster and it was telling me "Front, KA band" and the frequency. A car behind me got frustrated with my speed matching leagal and he sped around me just in time to get the cops radar and attention. He got the ticket, not me. Lots of options, I suggest watching some youtube vids on how to set it up correctly,

This is Uniden's best radar detector so far. It has long range detection which is a must. I own the escort redline 360 and the uniden has a longer range detection.

When it comes to the “best radar detector,” this one definitely makes the list. The Redline 360c is also a strong contender, but I can confidently say that while the Redline costs $100 more, this Uniden outperforms it by a wide margin. It also blows other radar detectors on the market out of the water.

I purchased this radar detector on May 13, 2023. I also own the R3 which is also a fantastic unit. I always put this baby up on my windshield and I have it configured with one Vortex Radar's .bin files. Ariel is the owner of that business and he has some very helpful information on there about pretty much every radar detector out there.

This is probably my 5th detector and definitely the most I ever spent. I tried the V1 and it went off constantly. If you haven't had a detector before, the trick is getting real radar alerts and no false alerts. Lots of cars out there use radar for cross traffic alerts and blind spot detection. For instance, Mazda CX's emit radar as you approach their rear. The great thing about the R8 is when you get the update program, you can load another persons presets for this detector. There are great forums with suggested base settings and more or less restrictive settings. You can review them first and then just load them. Most detectors have 20-30 presets and allow you to alert to or ignore bands. It is a long and tedious process to change each one. They even have a setting just for Mazda false alerts!! Even cooler, you can use R8 companion for IOS or Highway Radar for Android and get crowd-sourced radar maps to show you where others find speed traps in real-time. The detector also remembers those radar spots like "Your speed is" signs and over time ignores stationary radar. It also remembers where you mute a false alert. My only issue so far is that I HAD to use the USB cable that came with the detector to update it. I tried 4 other cables and none saw the R8. Not sure what that is about. Overall, well worth the money and couldn't be happier.

Great device sofar. Good price .i got it on sale and prixed match it with Amazon. Always shop best buy to keep the best stores open for business. Nothing like going to bestbuy and seeing the items in person. Low price is great.

This totally works, I use it around town and the highway. It does catch radar all around and it has saved my lead foot. I do love to go over the speed limit. You can change the settings for local or highway. It also illuminates different colors if you prefer to change from red.

Honestly, the radar performs exactly as it should. The fasle alerts are extremely minimal and will get the job done. Highly recommend if you take long road trips or have a need for speed. Just make the purchase, trust me. It's worth it.

I decided to buy the R8 because I recently had the R7 and that one had good range and worked very well so I did some research and people recommended the R8 for an even longer range and yes I have noticed the big difference I myself recommend this to anyone looking to buying a radar
