This is my second one the first didnt work properly and would only detect from a close range about 150 feet away (did update it but there was no difference).But this this second one detected from about a 1/4 mile away and worked perfectly with no updates and no setting changes. Probably would recommend the R7 a little more because of the price

Nice upgrade from my original Valentine One V1. I like the fact you can mute and set auto-mute on K-band radars that are false alerts. Pretty easy to setup by plugging into your computer and even downloading suggested user settings versus trying to go through the radar itself. One thing I have noticed which is similar to my V1 - the rear radar tends to have a longer distance of detecting radar after the cop has passed. The front radar will pick up maybe half a mile away but once I pass the radar will continue going off for about 2 miles. Which is great distance but doesn't help when I already passed.

Easy setup, good build quality, and easy to change controls.

Works well for my area. I like the auto mute when you travel the same roads every day.

Fantastic Radar detector. Have 2 now and have saved me about 10 times. I have had it go of 6 miles ahead. This is the best out there. Worth spending the money. This let you update firmware when Uniden puts it out. No downside on this model.

Excellent detector. Does a good job of weeding out the junk and detects radar signals from a good distance away. Highly customizable for your driving habits/area. I was able to purchase an aftermarket Cable to wire it into my review mirror for a very clean installation.

Absolutely update the unit because it will unlock the Bluetooth feature! With Bluetooth you can pair it with the Highway Radar app on your phone that integrates all the police finding apps AND notifies you of police aircraft in your area with the GPS!
