An outstanding product that detects law enforcement from miles away. I highly recommend it over the Escort Max 360 MKII. Having owned both, I can confidently say the performance of the Uniden R8 far exceeds that of the Max 360—by a significant margin.

Good range, get's lots of K band readings though. It gives you about 5 seconds to react to Ka which is more than enough. Biggest complaint is still how much K band falses it throws, even with filtering on. You know it's not a police radar because it's pretty weak signal strength, and it makes a bunch of extra noises when it knows for a fact it's police radar, but it keeps me stressed out when driving which isn't nice.

Having owned the R3 and the R7 the R8 adds more distance and better lockout learning capabilities and false alerts. Paired with the app this makes for the total package. R8 companion on ios allows you make quick programming in the expert mode. The R8 allows you to fine tune your detector to limit more false alerts by reducing the sensitivity of the rear antenna.

Saved us more than once. Loaded with great features. Well worth the price! I have found this to be a great radar detector. It remembers and mutes door alarms that used to drive me nuts. That said it still picks up backup and lane radars on newer cars. I don’t have any experience with speed or red light cameras. The unit is larger than I am used to so concealment is harder. That said I would definitely recommend this unit!

Installation was super easy and the quality is excellent. The product feels solid and well-made, and the packaging was secure with no damage at all. It works even better than I expected and definitely has great value for the price. I’m very satisfied and would recommend it to others.

I was told when looking at radar detectors that this unit has the highest return rate because of “false readings”. This Radar picks up K band and KA band. Which means anything from security systems in stores, other cars that use radar systems for cruise control/collision avoidance to Police Cruisers. Not all police departments use KA band, some are K band. So if you’re like me and frequently cruise at speeds that will get you in trouble then i want it to pickup EVERYTHING so there is little to no chance of getting picked up. The range is fantastic. I mean several thousand feet of range depending on terrain (Hills/Foliage). The only time you will get screwed is if they flick there radar on last second.. i would know… Laser pickup is good from experience.

Best radar sector I’ve ever owned. If you are trying to make sure you know where a cop is then it’s definitely worth the money. Yes it may be pricier than the others but for the money it’s the best in the game.

This is one of the best experiences, i have had shopping. I went in, asked for the device. The staff directed me to item. Asked me questions, and assisted with my purchase. This Radar detector works awesome! It is installed on my motorcycle and connected via Bluetooth to my headset so i can be alerted of road hazards with lights.

This is the best radar detector I've ever used, seen and owned. Then they turned on the Bluetooth and the app to go with it! Will purchase a new one as soon as released and give this one to my wife!

I've never owned a Radar Detector before, and this one was top of the line. I was skeptical at first on how good it works but I really underestimated it. If you're buying this specifically for police, it only rings if their radar is on obviously, that being said, it's very helpful if a police officer/trooper is on the side of the road or hiding waiting to give out tickets. It'll tell you about .5 of a mile to 1 mile before you reach the cop, give or take. Overall, perfect device for it's price.

Great Radar Detector! Many have argued it to be the best. While driving cautiously is always the best solution, the UNIDEN R8 Radar detector is a must have e-passenger to keep you on alert. I thought I would be driving aggressively all the time with the radar installed. In fact its quite the opposite. The frequent alerts to speed traps, red light cameras, and police detectors keep me on edge but have also helped me a few times. I installed my radar using Blendmount hardwire and mounting accessories. My passengers think it's a cool thing and it's a fun mod to have in the car.

Definitely worth the money. I travel from state to state for work and this has saved me plenty of times. Also love that it has gps as well.

As usual, Uniden delivers as promised! Only thing I don’t like is there is still no Bluetooth support, which is the main reason I switched from my R7 to this R8 plus having the mute button of front, but still a little disappointing that they have not came out with the app nor did they plan to according to Vortex Radar’s interview with them (11/2022) the only Bluetooth app that will work in the near future is for android users and it’s called the highway radar right now. Uniden does not plan on releasing any app, which is very unfortunate.

The radar is amazing one of the best radars I’ve had. And I’ve had all the top and most expensive radars. I’ve done a lot of research on all the top radars before I made this purchase and all reviews point back to the Uniden R8. I definitely recommend the purchase of this radar.

Best radar detector money can buy. Definitely worth it money since it has the best range detection in the category. Pricey for sure but nothing compares performance wise
