This product is garbage. The LASER on it never worked. You can query the web and find many people with the same problem. The power cord came out and now the device doesn't even work. SAVE YOU MONEY, GO WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND.

This radar is above and abond any radar i have ever had. The distance is phenomenal. Highly recommend.

I would stay away from Uniden. About two months after I received the device the display started going wonky were it was just dark, then stopped all notifications. I updated the firmware and called Uniden tech support only to find out that I had to send it in for repair and I had to pay the shipping cost. I receive verification that the device was received by Uniden repair center and I’ve been calling for three days to verify that they receive the item and I keep getting told that they haven't gotten to my shipment yet so they have not entered it into the system. This is a very expensive device for it to malfunction, not even six months into owning it, and the fact that you have to pay to send in the device and the amount of time it takes for it to be repaired is disappointing Uniden needs to do better.

I have owned detectors throughout the years. After the reviews and I decided to try the R8 out with high expectations. The first trip with it on could have been the last, it was noisy to the point of fatigue "My dollar general finder". I upgraded the FW and applied the vortexradar configuration tune. Now it's much better, but still very active/ not useful in the city. Of note the R8 runs hot without the sun, not sure it's going to take a summer. Anyway, it's a mixed bag and not the silver bullet I hoped for.
