very poor service, placed my order was supposed to be delivered to me, it never came in. went to the store in natomas ca. they had one is stock but refused to give me. had to cancel my order. and its been 10 days still no refund issued.

Expensive. Drove by 6 different areas with parked patrol cars. Not one alarm given. Returned it, went back to passport

Have not had a radar detector in over 20 years. Only had it a week and I love it.

It worked one time. I would think due to reviews and price it would of been better.

Legit got this to avoid tickets but instead it let me down, i was cruising a solid 85 in a 70 and it let me down because i knew where the staters like to be at, and since it didnt go off i assumed it was good but turned out it wasnt good

I had a bad experience with this device. It didn’t really work the way it says it does. Definitely was disappointed especially for the amount of money I spent on purchasing the device. Maybe I was missing something or didn’t do something I was supposed to do while installing the device. It just didn’t work for me.

Returning mine due to its inability to power up. Thinking it might be the cord, I tested another one, no luck. I am sure this is a great detector because the reviews are great everywhere I read about it. But for the amount of money needed to purchase it, I need it to work right out of the box.

It has been four months since I bought it and it is glitched out. Tried everything to fix it and short of sending it to uniden for possible repair, it's useless. For the kind of money they charge I expect to get value and quality, but, this is not the case with this company. AVOID.

Bought twice and both times didnt turn on. What a way to waste 750$

Good I guess have only had 3 weeks n some of settings are confusing. Have not had any ka band signals yet so not sure how week it work. To me the setting are confusing. May return

Ka band would not turn off and overall would rather go with other brand

First radar I own and it’s definitely exactly what I was looking for and more. It definitely already saved me from few speeding tickets. Definitely worth the money if you looking to buy a radar. High quality / plug and play. I ordered it online and it was delivered to be next day. Amazing experience/ service.

better range than the r7, sure, a little quieter? yeah, worth the premium price? sure if you are coming from an r1 or an r3, I remember paying $600 for the r7 when they first came out to be disappointed with uniden's business practice's giving a 200 dolalr discount 2 months later I hope they unlock BT so we can use apps with it, for the time being I am sticking with my V1G1/JBV1

I would buy Uniden over Escort hands down. The Uniden R8 device performs as advertised and is extremely reliable. Uniden's customer service if far superior to Escort. Escort has not been able to deliver their products to consumers. Uniden has stepped up to the plate to fill that gap. Why wait months on an inferior Escort product when you can have a Uniden R8 in your hands today ? Besides Escort is "Old" technology and is way overrated IMO.

Remember owning my first Uniden X and K only band detector in the 80s. Escort dominated the field until the R7 emerged. The R8 is an R7 with better range. You would be happy with either detector as rhey both perform well. KA band is widely used today as well as laser. Its nothing to pick KA band 2-3 miles away. Laser? Probably alert you to pull over and wait for a ticket. Nothing protects you from the gun. Unless your lucky enough to get a stray beam. R8 9 out of 10. Escort 360 8 out of 10.

Has extremely long range, very intuitive and the directional arrows are very reliable.

I'm totally happy with the R8. I am very familiar with the UNIDEN radar because I also have an R3. This time I wanted the top of the line and it is earning every dollar I spent on it. Yes it's very crazy expensive but I'm a radar type of driver.

This is a pretty good radar, which it should be for the price. I had the R4 before this and this was just as good. The reason I upgraded is because one of the speakers on the R4 went out and it was even more annoying. Reasons for the 1 star review: (1) this thing has more false alerts than any radar detector I have owned, which includes these two Unidens and couple top of the line Escorts. (2) You may ask, well why don't you just turn K band off? Well, I did, and it didn't work. So I emailed Uniden and they want me to send it it on my dime to get the K band off. Also, whenever there is two k bands going off in different directions, it makes the most obnoxious sound that scares me and the people sitting in my car. It's embarrassing really. (3) There is a trailing K band nearly every time I drive (which I automuted) but it still creates the horrible sound if another k band goes off while trailing k band is on but muted. I don't know why there is a trailing k band in the first place. (4) This radar detector DOES NOT pick up manual radar gun signals. I've been popped twice by cops out of their cars with their radar guns (I live in Dallas and this is the primary speed trap mechanism because most of the police cruisers don't have built in radar). (5) The customer service is abysmal. I emailed them about all of these problems and since I have had it more than 1 year (14 months), I have to ship it and pay for repairs on my own dime after paying $700 for this thing. (6) THE SPEAKER WENT OUT ON MY R8 TOO, after just over a year, and I bet it is because alllllllllllllllllllll of the false alerts. Moral of the story, I'm going back to Escort and am going to throw this R8 out the window one day when it angers me enough.
