I own multiple RD’s including the coveted R7 with custom firmware. I forgot my RD when i rented a car for vacation and picked this up as a quick fix and was it ever worth the money. If you want a ridiculously long range radar but are intimidated by high end RD setups id say get the R8 with rhe R8 buddy app and adjust ypur features there as it is simple enough and you’ll be going in seconds. Its bot quite as simple as say a Max 360 but it definitely outperforms a 360c. High recommended if you aren’t interested in custom firmware like an R7 but want an extensive feature set for a long range detector. KA-pop on this thing is phenomenal

This was my first radar detector purchase, and I’m happy to report that it did its job and saved my behind from a ticket in Tennessee! The price point is higher than most dash units out there, but the OLED display and the direction indicating arrows make it totally worth it! Basically takes the guesswork out of where the signal is coming from. Also, only had a couple instances where it picked up someone’s blind spot or adaptive cruise control radar in about an 1800 mile road trip.

I love this detector. It is easy to set up and customize using their app online and a USB cable. An excellent video on YouTube went into region-specific settings and I was able to download a file and pop it in there. Works like a charm. You can spend more for a Valentine, but having had one before, not worth it.

Best radar detector I ever used. Simple to use. Easy to install. Auto mute. Gps tracking. And undetectable. It will pick up from a mile away. Will pick up traffic cams and plate readers.

One of the best radar detectors you can buy. It detects cops from at least 2 miles away. And some instances I have even detected a signal from 3 miles away. It has arrows for both front back and the sides and if you’re download the app you will get very less falses, I love this this is amazing worth all the money. I have had escort and other brands, but nobody comes closer to this.

I use uniden since R3 this is my third uniden product i used R7 and i bought this one best bang of bucks little more range then R7

I like this radar over the valinetine one its more accurate and has longer range it rememebrs false alarms and has gps def a recommend.

Former loyal Escort 360 fan. Saw the R8 on sale and read a lot of good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I thought nothing could beat the escort, but I was wrong. With the right settings (from YouTube Vortex Radar) the R8 had significantly less false alarms than the 360 and noticed longer range with quicker alerts. R8 is now my daily driver and highly recommend it!

If your looking for one of the best radar detectors out there this is definitely at the top. The long range being one of its best features. This is not to say there isn’t any con’s. The first issue is that out of the box its very rough because you really have to tune it in for it not to just give you a crazy amount of false possitives. I do reccomend checking out Vortex radar youtube channel to help you dial it in. Once you get that situated I’ve had nothing but great performance from this radar.

This has to be the best radar detector on the market. It’s super sensitive so you know well in advance before you approach a cop, even at high speed. It can select a cop that’s like 2 miles away as long as the landscape is flat enough! Never had any issues with it, and will buy again.

yes it’s expensive but think about it if it saves you from one ticket you’ll be saving money. and it’ll save you from hundreds of tickets

The Uniden R8 is hands down the best radar detector I’ve ever used. The range and accuracy are unbelievable—it picks up signals from way ahead, giving me more than enough time to adjust. The directional arrows and detailed alerts make it easy to know exactly where the signal is coming from. It’s packed with features like GPS lockouts, red light/speed camera alerts, and automatic sensitivity adjustments depending on speed. The OLED display is bright and clear, and the voice alerts are super helpful without being distracting. Mounting and setup were quick and easy, and it looks sleek on the windshield. Definitely a premium product that delivers premium performance. If you take your driving seriously, the R8 is worth every dollar.

Works great city and highway. Detects a long way aways…saved me a lot of money. Even detects when law enforcement uses scramblers (know they are there, just not where) after I figured it out, very easy to adjust l, even the advanced setting to avoid having it go off constantly due to security systems.

Range is incredible, very accurate. Wasn’t sure I would like it because I went looking for an escort redline 360 and couldn’t find one anywhere. I already have an escort 9500 that I have been really happy with and wanted to stay with that brand but no regrets after using this for my trip from south Texas to Michigan.

I purchased this radar detector on May 13, 2023. I also own the R3 which is also a fantastic unit. I always put this baby up on my windshield and I have it configured with one Vortex Radar's .bin files. Ariel is the owner of that business and he has some very helpful information on there about pretty much every radar detector out there.

I liked the sensitivity and range, but the downside is that the auto mute is not as significantly effective, hence it’s a bit chatty for K falses, but I use it paired with r8 companion which does a great job on spot locks and reduced k falses

Great radar detector. Excellent range and quick reaction time. There is some false alerts on k band but many can be filtered out. Laser detection is useless on this detector. V1 g2 is much better at that. Build quality is disappointing especially after using valentine v1 for decades.

amazing choice for the person that what’s the best performance from a radar detector. i have had others and uniden understands what the end users wants and delivers with this product. the R8 is my preferred choice for road trips and wont make a drive with out it
