After years of being used to spending a couple of hundred bucks for a low-end radar detector, it was a little nerve racking when I purchased this top of the line Uniden radar detector. However, it was money well spent. I love the fact that this radar detector visually and verbally alerts you to the direction of a radar signal (front, back, side-to-side). I wish the company made a dedicated app for this detector but I'm told that there are other 3rd party apps that serve as alternatives. I love that this radar detector doesn't require a subscription and that it allows you to customize several settings on the device itself. It's also reassuring to know that this R8 model outperforms many of the other premium radar detectors (Cobra Redline/Valentine One) in different areas - like consistent alerting, warning you nearly a mile out, etc.

Works pretty well, better than other units I’ve used in the past. Unfortunately was unable to unsafe due to current issues with the software on Mac that haven’t been resolved by Uniden. Did not keep because although it worked well, being unable to update out certain frequencies put off by vehicles like Mazda CX-5 made it a little tough for the price. Might try again in the future once hardware upgrades are available or the software issues have been fixed.

Best radar detector I ever used. Simple to use. Easy to install. Auto mute. Gps tracking. And undetectable. It will pick up from a mile away. Will pick up traffic cams and plate readers.

This was my first radar detector purchase, and I’m happy to report that it did its job and saved my behind from a ticket in Tennessee! The price point is higher than most dash units out there, but the OLED display and the direction indicating arrows make it totally worth it! Basically takes the guesswork out of where the signal is coming from. Also, only had a couple instances where it picked up someone’s blind spot or adaptive cruise control radar in about an 1800 mile road trip.

The best investment i ever brought. Make sure you turn on all feature to get the most out of the radar. Saved me plenty of times from getting a ticket.

I use uniden since R3 this is my third uniden product i used R7 and i bought this one best bang of bucks little more range then R7

Didn’t get the one where updates over cell data but that doesn’t matter. With the r/tach app and adjust settings and radar does a great job learning fake signals and range is awesome. The mount that comes with it is best in box mount I’ve had. Hate the 2 little suction cup ones. The single big one is the best. Little bulky but works great

This works, radar picks up the police radar with plenty of time to make a decision.

One of the best radar detectors you can buy. It detects cops from at least 2 miles away. And some instances I have even detected a signal from 3 miles away. It has arrows for both front back and the sides and if you’re download the app you will get very less falses, I love this this is amazing worth all the money. I have had escort and other brands, but nobody comes closer to this.

Former loyal Escort 360 fan. Saw the R8 on sale and read a lot of good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I thought nothing could beat the escort, but I was wrong. With the right settings (from YouTube Vortex Radar) the R8 had significantly less false alarms than the 360 and noticed longer range with quicker alerts. R8 is now my daily driver and highly recommend it!

I like this radar over the valinetine one its more accurate and has longer range it rememebrs false alarms and has gps def a recommend.

If your looking for one of the best radar detectors out there this is definitely at the top. The long range being one of its best features. This is not to say there isn’t any con’s. The first issue is that out of the box its very rough because you really have to tune it in for it not to just give you a crazy amount of false possitives. I do reccomend checking out Vortex radar youtube channel to help you dial it in. Once you get that situated I’ve had nothing but great performance from this radar.

I love this detector. It is easy to set up and customize using their app online and a USB cable. An excellent video on YouTube went into region-specific settings and I was able to download a file and pop it in there. Works like a charm. You can spend more for a Valentine, but having had one before, not worth it.

If you use FSD in Hurry mode on the freeway (looking at you Tesla Owners) - this thing is a ticket saver. Picked up a state trooper on the interstate tucked in the rolling hills median 1/2 mile away with his Ka band on. Gave me plenty of time to shift to "standard" mode and let the car slow down for me and shift to center lane. Tons of filter options for various frequencies local to you. Highly recommend using with R8 Companion App. Yes the app is an additional $10, but trust me, its worth it. Check out vortexradar.com for recommended settings - also very helpful.

These are def top of the line radars you can’t beat one , get a lower model if you can’t afford!

Works very well, this radar woks long distance so you really have enough time to adjust your speed or will let you know about the cameras.

This is a good radar, just be mindful some cops won’t turn on their radar until your on top of them and obviously this radar can’t pick up a radar that’s turned off, but it’s warned us of cops 2 miles ahead

Every time saved me . Excellent range for r8 . Can drive with no fear.
