Been using the Uniden R8 for a year, and it never disappoints—rock-solid detection with excellent range. It’s saved me countless times when I least expected trouble—worth every penny.

It’s too good. Im detecting automatic doors and Radar Speed signs. If only the Police turned their Radars on, I would be able to detect them too. For me it is a confidence booster when you drive a red sports car.

best radar detector iv ever had,love this thing,auto mute is sweet and it picks up radar a good 4-5 miles away and it has saved me more than a few times so its more than paid for itself.

Great detector, great range. The memory function is great and works well. Honestly no complaints after the first month of use. It's just a bit expensive is all.

Detection range is ridiculous across all bands and the arrows are like a backup camera. Once you have the arrows and the second rear-facing horn you can't go back to the way it was. Bluetooth functionality has been enabled with a recent firmware update and this can connect to your phone to pair with apps to aid in detection. The only downside are K band vehicle BSM falses - which are ridiculous in crowded cities. This is in City mode with all filtering enabled as well. There are muting functions to help with this and GPS auto lockouts tend to auto lockout K band falses across the entire city over time. I leave auto lockouts enabled although some might find auto locking out an entire city might be overkill and do harm than good. To each their own though.

Works great. Has definitely done its job so far. Great videoa on youtube to set it up with not many false alerts. Took a long road trip 17 hours and it did not miss a patrol!

The display is beautiful and you can easily read it in any lighting. The mount that comes with the detector is perfect. The hard and soft carrying cases are excellent as well. It auto mutes areas where it picks up false readings (automatic sliding doors, motion detectors, etc). It detects radar way before I ever see police. Most of the time so much so that I think it’s a false alert then a police car will crest the hill I’m approaching. Stop looking and buy this radar detector. This is THE radar detector.

This has not let me down. I have had alerts that have saved me tickets already. This is so much better than my old V1. Great features to keep me going for years.

Let’s qualify this statement! I have played around with radar detectors since the early 80’s. So I have a R7 and it’s just ok-so with all of the Utube reviews and comments lately it’s always stay away from Escort as they do not alert fast enough. That is not good BUT if you are not trying to enter the CanonBall Run, with Escort your probably good. Here’s the deal if alerting to the same garage doors or motion detectors etc etc and “attempting” to lock them out everyday for 2 years and alerting everyday to the same crap- Is ok- then buy the R8. I drank the koolaid and went for the R8 for the range and “better” lockouts than my R7. In hindsight that was not a brilliant move. Bottom line the R8 has slightly better range under the right circumstances but DO NOT believe it’s lockouts are better than R7 because they are not! So I would recommend the Escort for being quiet. I would have bought the Escort if BB would’ve had it in stock. Plus Escorts new software is supposed to help with delays! So unless Uniden can update its software and make the fake lockouts work, don’t waste your money with R8 over a R7. If you do not have a Radar Detector and not experienced buy the R8 it’s good but noisy!

As a radar detector…this is a cut above the competition really. It’s a little confusing on how to update the device firmware and GPS DB the first time, but I was able to on my first try. This is the slightly older version that doesn’t support the Uniden App, but I use the R8 Companion app and it is perfect. All four directional observability at it’s finest, sadly quality is not cheap.

I’ve had multiple Uniden radars and they are great especially the R7. Have one for each of my vehicles. Less false alarms and has saved us from getting stopped on quite a few occasions because of our speed. Highly recommend, it’s a little pricy but totally worth it!

This thing will pick up the popo miles ahead of you! It's expensive but if it saves you from just 3 tickets, it's paid for itself. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to radar detectors so do yourself a favor and buy the right one the first time!

Love the radar looks and quality are amazing!! And the range of detection is outstanding it will start going off and then you drive way ahead and the cop with be there waiting. It truly is the best detector on the market
