    This is a great case.

I think the reviews other purchasers are providing are very critical. The case looks great and feels good in your hands. It makes the device heavier but that’s required to properly protect the device. You can have the Apple Pencil Ver.2 charging magnetically at all times (even while the cover is closed) and there is an additional pencil holder at the top of the case. And YES... the cover does come off the rest of the case and you can re-attach it (it’s a bit hard to do the first time you are putting it back on so don’t force it to hard). No I will complain that the case does not auto sleep or shut of the device when closed (you have to turn it off manually) and it’s very pricey because if your spending money on an expensive iPad... of course you have $100 to spend on a case... right??? It’s the best case on the market right now and I highly recommend it. I gave the device a 4 star rating because of the lack of auto sleep feature when the cover is closed and the price but the device delivers in all other aspects.

The only case I trust to protect my $1000 iPad

Seriously Apple. Why must you constantly raise your prices on us and then create more features and upgrades that force me to buy your latest device? Anyways, now that I've literally spent a stack on your new iPad, I need to make sure my twin 5-year old hyper active "tweens" don't turn this thing into technological mush. I've had UAG on my iPhone in the past with no fuss over the last 3 years and ran across this at the Best Buy in Irvine on my last business trip. After asking the sales rep for the best case for my iPad and not getting an answer I liked, I tried this out. Pros: I love the feel, the flip screen, and the grippy exterior. I thought this thing would be way bulky but it's not. I actually trust this thing with my kids now. Cons: It's a bit pricey but if my iPad still works in 2022 then it was money well spent. Full Disclosure: I am a tech nerd so my views may not represent the general population.

After installing this case on your iPad and then opening the cover for use, the front cover cannot be secured to the back cover. This causes the front cover to swing and dangle while you’re using the iPad and get in the way. To avoid this, you must remove the front cover, which attaches to the back. After removing the front cover, trying to put it back is not so easy. In order to reattached the front cover to the back cover, you have to exert a lot of pressure on the center of the cover and its latch. This causes you to put pressure on the center of the screen in order to reattach the back cover. There is a serious risk of causing damage to your 12.9 iPad while reinstalling the front cover. The biggest risk comes when you do not have a flat surface available to you in order to reattach the front cover, like when you are a passenger in the car. This was a waste of money, I will not be using the cover.

I just got this because apple cases are not protective at all, and because i dont wanna lose my pencil and this was the only one with the ability to support the pencil 2 magnetic charging feature (who would want to take out the case every time they need to charge the pencil, right?). As stated in other comments the slot for the pencil charging has been cut with a tramontina dented knife. But thats not even my biggest worry. What ifound terrible about this case is the fact that as soon as you open the cover the whole thing flaps around like you re ready to use it as a stand, and not a folio. There is no magnet on the back to keep the folio cover opened without the whole thing flapping all over. Messy. Poor design.

I had this case for the iPad Pro 3rd gen. This is absolutely the worst case I’ve ever dealt with. The retaining tab is designed to be kept in place with a magnet but it flopped all over the place. The actual cover is very weak and flimsy which made me feel as if I was going to drop my iPad and last, the built in stand come loose and wouldn’t snap back into place. This happen twice, once in bestbuy and then again with the one I purchased. In an effort to ensure it wasn’t all in my mind, I had my wife to use the iPad with the case and she became irritated almost immediately. I really liked the look of the case but the functionality is extremely lacking. After using this case all of 10 minutes, I packed it up and returned it immediately to bestbuy. Please stay away from this case. I would rate this case .5/5 if possible. I end up ordering an otter box defender. It’s a bit heavy but my iPad is completely enclosed and protected.

It's a solid case with great bumper protection around the edges. The material feels nice and has nice grip to it. The pencil holder is nice but does not snap to the ipad to charge while attached. The magnet is somewhat in between. It seems to have a good snap to it but I feel you really have to be aware when you close the flap that is in the right place where a lot of other magnet cases you just close it it and you dont worry. If you put the pen in the charging spot which is where the magnetic flap is it will not stay closed very well. I would not reccomend it. The kickstand part is okay but needs some improvement it doesn't feel sturdy and the angle options are not the best as you get more horizontal. These are the reasons I give it a 3. More like 3 1/2. This is just my opinion so please take it with a grain of salt. Take care.

Was just about the only case available when I purchased my iPad-pro 12.9 3rd gen. Seems to do the job. As mentioned previously in other reviews the cover does not shut off the screen and does seem to flop around randomly. This does not seem to be the final UAG case for the 3rd gen pro, as the website lists a different image and shows availablity as 2019. I don’t regret the purchase but if you can I would wait for the “official” version, especially as on that one the pen holder seems to be in the same spot to have the pen attached magnetically + a cradle. As for the mention of quality issues on the new cutouts, i could see this being hit or miss, my case is fine but there are a lot of posts on it online.

The back cover was perfect, gave good protection with high quality durable rubber like material that really looked cool with the brushed aluminum brand embedded into it. Unfortunately, that’s where the coolness ended. The front cover was very flimsy and just seem like it wanted to fall apart in your hands. Trying to hold the iPad in portrait mode when the cover was folded back was difficult and the little magnetic flap that secured it when it was closed just seem to get in the way constantly. I was really excited for this to work because it’s been a little difficult to find a decent case for my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 inch. Unfortunately this was not it and I ultimately return it to Best Buy.

I love everything about this case and only use UAG cases on my iphones. I love how the side where the Apple Pencil magnetically attaches is open for the pencil to attach and charge (unlike other cases) but yet the corners are still protected. The only downfall of this case (unfortunately) is that it’s not screen protector friendly. The corners of the screen protector are lifting. I ordered another one to see if maybe I just got a defective one. But if the new one doesn’t fit with screen protector one. I will be returning both and be extremely disappointed since I need a screen protector and otherwise love the case.

I had this case on my iPad Pro 9.7 and it was awesome. Unfortunately on this case they didn’t anticipate apple having a magnetic Apple Pencil so the add on Apple Pencil holder on the top of the case is useless. Once they found out the Apple Pencil was magnetic they literally cut a piece off the case to make room for the pencil. Mine is cut so off center that it left the camera area with very little protection, it’s bad. I’m so disappointed specially paying $89 for this case I will be returning it. See for your self is not worth it. Go back to the drawing board UAG and make this right.

Best third party case so far for the 3rd Gen

Reading some of the reviews some have mentioned that this is a last minute mod. The opening for the Apple Pencil is really the only option you have available you have the volume buttons to the left of the pencil and a little bit of space on the right hand side. The additional pencil hold looks like a nice place for the pencil when working in portrait mode. The only question I have is why the front cover is removable is you can’t attach the keyboard like you would do on the 1st and 2nd gen iPad Pro. So maybe there is some last minute changes but the only third party case with Apple Pencil support for charging.

I received an iPad Pro for Christmas. I purchased the UAG folio case for handling and protecting my iPad Pro. The UAG accommodates the Apple Pencil which is a great plus. I was walking through a parking lot carrying my iPad Pro when I tripped on a curb. I fell forward and the iPad Pro went flying. When I picked the iPad up and checked it out, it worked perfectly without even a scratch! What I din't expect is the UAG case was hardly scratched either. Thanks UAG for a great product that is well worth the investment. It is with confidence I recommend UAG for protecting your device!

Best Case Available as of November 2018

This case is great because it fit some important criteria: space to allow the Apple Pencil 2 to charge when needed and a place to secure the pencil other than relying on the magentic strip on the side. The case feels well made and is truly the best you can get right now. The Apple case is not protective and the only way to store the pencil is on the magnetic strip. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the price is way too high and it does not offer absolute protection, but offers acceptable protection. Definitely better than keeping it out of a case.

This case provides nice protection for the tablet and a space that allows the magnetic pencil to be charged without having to remove the case as well as a secondary spot to hold the pencil without charging. I have 2 minor gripes. First is the almost $100 price for a non keyboard cover. But I guess it's a necessary investment to protect the tablet. Second is it adds noticeably significant weight to the tablet which takes away from the light and thin appeal of the tablet. My use doesn't require me to hold the tablet in my hands for long periods so I can deal with it.

I read all the reviews and then bought this case online. Reviewers said it was hard to get in and out of case and the auto turn off didn't work,. This is all false! Case does turn off my new ipad pro when it is closed. The magnet activates the on/off. Ipad popped into case easily. Case is sturdy and allows for the pen to charge while closed or open. The only complaint I have is that I have no use for the other pen holder on the top of the case. I am sure it will come in handy to some, but useless to me. All in all it is a great case though.

I’ve had this about 4 months and it’s been very close to going in the garbage every time I use it. This cover is not worth the money. It does offer some protection for the iPad. This is needed because the cover does not provide a stable stand for the device. No matter how you try to configure it, the cover is flimsy and allows the device to fall or collapse onto whatever it is positioned on. It does not turn the iPad on when it is opened. Can only trust it when you use the iPad flat. Look elsewhere and don’t waste your money.

    This is a Recalled Case

I purchased this case and it does not work with an iPad with a screen protector. And the cut out for the pencil looks like it was done with a box cutter, very poor quality. I contacted UAG and they said that all those cases have been recalled and they should have never hit the shelves. UAG also stated that they have not even released the case for the 3rd gen IPad Pro 12.9. I don’t recommend this case at all until the real one gets released.

love everything about this case down to the black color but, in the end i couldn't handle the back flap/cover driving me nuts so it got returned. the cover/back flap really is a poor design for an ipad 12.9 pro, it doesn't latch on to anything to keep it opened/against back of ipad when you are holding it while walking/etc and it ends up flopping down all the time. it also was limited in standing position and often just fell down. quality, looks and built wise was otherwise excellent so still rating it a 4.

I really wanted to like this case. I’ve had a UAG on all my iPhones over the years and they’ve all been great. I figured their tablet case would be on the same level. Unfortunately I was dead wrong. The case flexes and feels cheap which doesn’t inspire much confidence when you have a $1000+ iPad in it. I did like the Apple Pencil holder up top (it doesn’t charge the pencil in that position) and was very secure. Ultimately I ended up going with the otterbox x360 which feels and will protect the tablet much more.

The case fits well and allows the pencil to be secured by the magnetic tab also. It allows for the iPad to be displayed on either side as well. The one complaint I have is when you layer a protective glass over the screen, the case is too tight to allow the additional thickness of the screen protector to slide under. It keeps trying to pop the glass off. I haven’t tried to subject it to a drop test or other methods to gauge the effectiveness of the case because my hope is that it is not needed.
