Nice wide view

A little flare at night (from headlights of cars behind) but still superior compared to plain old rear view mirror. Need hardwiring instead of lighter plug power to use parking mode.

Then after 12 months one of the plastic mounts just snapped off.

1. Confirm if the power supply of the car charger is always on. Plug it into the cigarette lighter. The light will flash if the supply is poor.
2. Take out of the SD card and unplug all cables. Then take the dashcam indoors and charge it with a 5V/3A adapter and a MINI USB cable for an hour to see if it works.
3. Use a pin to reset the device directly. The reset hole is behind the camera.
4. Unplug the rear camera kit to see if the front camera works well.

Nice Vantop Dash cam but Not practical

Unfortunately I had to return it due to these issues...although the 12" fit my rear view mirror perfectly on my CRV, but it interfered with my sun visors whenever I flip it up/down. Also, the dash was too heavy on my rear view mirror. My mirror kept tilting downward. And voice activation is nice but too sensitive. It kept interfering with the radio or whenever I'm talking to someone inside the car. Another drawback is the night camera, it's not very clear, but daytime is really clear. Finally what I didn't enjoy with this dash cam is not being able to use my rear view mirror to see cars in my rear. Bcuz the dash goes over your mirror, it rendered your mirror useless. I personally prefer a light weight compact dash cam that just attaches to my windshield which is more practical.

The instruction manual could be better. Still haven't gotten the GPS to work yet. The resolution is excellent.

Don't buy VANTOP products!

Vantop has CLOSED permanently and there's no support for this item at all. Usually defective. Don't buy this brand. There are similar items made by better companies. Not even 1 STAR is deserved... it was the only way to publish this.

Worked great until it didn’t work at all

Randomly started getting false touch inputs, switch screens, turn off and on by itself. Now it won’t turn on at all. I’ve tried changing hardwire locations, 12 volt power, factory reset all with no improvement. I now have to return the product which means removing all the cables I hid out of sight.

Rearview mirror camera

Heat caused detachment

If you live in a hot area I would not bother with this product. On a 100 degree Oregon day the heat caused the back part of the mirror to morph. This caused my mirror to detach and hang and would not reattach due to the back portion being bent.

Great Product

Not too difficult for someone with 12v knowledge and car audio experience to install. Hardwire kit is available online.

Not worth it

They didn't format the sd card or show me how. Never showed me how to use any part of this item, It's to heavy for the mirror so I had to have someone hold it in place while I crazy glued it in place. Problem is it still doesn't record anything and when it's sunny the glare makes it impossible to see.

Regarding the issue of SD card, there are two steps to format the SD card before using it. Please try to format the SD card to FAT32 on the computer, then insert the card into the camera and enter Settings to format it again.

Regrading the issue of the mirror mounting, we suggest that you can buy a Backplate Panel. If you need it, you can contact with our after-sale team, we'll send the link for you.
As for the glare, here are some advice:
*Try to adjust the brightness of the screen to the maximum.
*Adjust the angle of the rearview mirror so that no reflections are directed at the driver. Reduce eye irritation from glare.
*When the sun is too dazzling, open the sun visor, please
*It is suggested to paste a layer of film on the window

Great Dash Cam

The 4K resolution is a great option. It also has a parking mode to video things when youre away from your vehicle. Many more options.
