This movie is unique because venom is traditionally a villain in the Marvel universe so it’s interesting to see this antihero as the star the special events are great and Tom Hardy turns in a strong performance the movie could’ve benefited from an R rating you could tell it wanted to go there but was restrained but I can understand the want to appeal to a wider audience and age demographic as far as the steel book goes it’s a must-have for any collector The cover art is done by project pop art which I believe are responsible for some of the most awesome covers because of this venom is beautifully rendered on the steel book in a stylized artistic fashion that screams comic book

"So bad its good"... Probably the right phrasing for it but I genuninely enjoyed this film. It took me away from some stress happening in my life and lifted my mood so I am grateful to it on just that account. I was surprised this was PG-13 and not R, given how the trailer looked and what I heard of the character beforehand. I do think the film suffered a little, it could have gone all out on a few things methinks but it didn't dampen my enjoyment of the film. LOVE Venom, amazing character and he had me laughing more than once too. The special effects for him were pretty good. Eddie Brock took awhile to grow on me *shrugs* his "love interest" was developed very well so I was "blah" on her. If she's in the next one, hopefully they beef up her character more.

This is a really cool steelbook. I like that they went with a pop art design rather than the movie poster (which I didn't think looked that great). Hopefully you're not the type that buys steelbooks without seeing a movie, but in case you are be warned--this movie is not great. It's okay, and Tom Hardy carries it. The effects are great at some points, not so great at others (the end was difficult to follow with how murky everything was). Overall it was okay, but leads into what should be a pretty good sequel. Hopefully they learned from what works and what didn't in this.

If you like the general idea of Venom as a character and are open to a different origin story you will love this movie. Critics complained that the best part of the movie was the relationship between Eddie and Venom...…… WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE BETTER? The movie was a fun romp! Could it have been more violent? Yes, but that can be said for a lot of movies, and frankly I don't think it took away from Venom. When he chomps a dude, you know he chomps a dude. There's really no need for shock value in gore because you can tell Eddie is disgusted by it and Tom Hardy's performance really nails how someone would behave for the most part. Is it perfect? No. Is it a FUN MOVIE TO WATCH? Yes!

In the comics, Eddie Brock is a character that is a bit of an outcast, is unsure of himself and gets even more confused (initially) when Venom entered his life, and Tom Hardy channels Eddie Brock to perfection!!! Venom in the comics had some dark-ish humour, and the humour that Venom spouts in the movie is spot on - in fact Venom gets the best one liners. And the biggest laughs from the audience. The movie portrays a beautiful symbiotic relationship between Eddie Brock and Venom, and shows progression in their relationship throughout the movie.

After reading all the critic reviews I was so interested in seeing what they thought was a train wreck of a movie. What me and my gf found was a hilarious rom-com that really embodied the struggles of life today. Eddie Brock lost his job and his fiance, winds up in a little apartment on the bad side of town. But not once does he blame Anne. He takes responsibility for himself and his actions. From the get go, Venom always referred to he and Eddie as "we" as opposed to Riot's and Drake's "I". All and all this is a great movie that you'll enjoy!

Not only is this movie so great, but the case it comes in is worth it. I know, the price can be a bit intimidating for someone who just wants to see the movie or can stream it online, but having this product is something else. The design, colors, and feel of this product is an experience like no other. Typically when I buy Steelbooks such as this one, I am very careful of any scratches or dents on the case since this has happened more than once to me before in the past... But when I received this Steelbook, it was in flawless condition.

Coming from a comic book reading/collecting background, with Spider-Man being my number one favorite hero/read, I was not expecting to like Venom since they stripped all of the connection to Spider-Man out of the origin story. (Fun fact for those that don't know, Spider-Man was the first bearer of the Venom symbiote suit.) Even without the Spider-Man tie-in, I thought the movie was a lot of fun. Great humor, good story, and it didn't seem to drag anywhere. I even watched all of the BluRay specials...something I don't usually do.

If you go into Venom expecting quality art house cinema, you're going to have a bad time. Venom is mediocre, and revels in it. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and Tom Hardy is a delight to watch in every scene he's in. He carries the film all on his own, adding an unexpected humor to the character of Eddie Brock. This movie is best watched with a few friends who have similar humor, along with a bowl of popcorn. It might not be a gem by anyone else's standards, but it's a masterpiece to me.

Actually I haven't watched this yet, I'm waiting for the price to drop some more on the 4K A/V receiver I've had my eye on for the last month, then my HT will be complete(ish). Anyways liked Tom since The Revenant and anything superhero seems to be popular and a lot of critics gave it poor reviews so I bought it, what do they know? Plus, I didn't know the actor that played the Romulan in the last NextGen movie back in 2002 or 2003 was Tom Hardy. So to sum up: Like Tom, Star Trek and artwork, so I recommend this movie in 4K.

My husband has read the comic so hated this movie, not for the acting, but for the plot which diverges so greatly from Venom being a villain to the core. My 16 year old daughter and I enjoyed the movie. We liked the comedy and Tom Hardy is an absolutely incredible actor (watch series The Taboo if you’re an adult and you’ll se what I mean). I would give this a 5 star rating if I didn’t know a huge portion of die hard Marvel Comics fans will disagree due to Venom and his story being COMPLETELY different and NOTHING like he is in the comics. Though Tom Hardy fans are in for a definite treat!

If you are a fan of comic book based movies this won't disappoint. However, if you are an avid reader and follower of comic books you may have a different opinion. Seems this one is in a different universe than the other marvel movies, focuses on eddie brock and his start with Venom. Though I think I can remember from way back in my comic book reading days, Venom started with spider man.... Ah well, I still enjoyed this movie and look forward to seeing a sequel that may just introduce Spidey.

And that's probably the best way to describe Venom. Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and the titular Venom makes for an entertaining flick as the ex-reporter and alien Symbiote struggle against one another as they form an unlikely alliance and understanding, while the looming threat of the LIFE foundation tries to capture them. Any fans of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy may recall the letdown that was Venom's first film appearance, and this movie delivers on the slimy alien bio-suits's iconic look, while still presenting a new and original take on the anti-hero's usual origin.

The Venom series continues the Larger than life action adventure we all expect from the Marvel Studio. The story line sets in place a complete overview of the main character including the back-story of his life. The action builds with each plot twist keeping the viewer on the edge of their seat; contemplating the multiple outcomes as each scene plays out. The ending leaves one wanting the next episode to be released to continue the action adventure of their newest action hero(s).

Great movie! Funny, intense action. And Tom Hardy is an all-around great actor. The disc works just fine with no problems.

My 10 year old loved Venom whereas I won’t allow him to watch Deadpool. There’s a similarity in that it’s two wise cracker anti-heroes. This is not X-Men related like Deadpool. The super power reveal is original. I think this franchise will get better as they make more. This was a lot of fun to watch. It’s violent but nothing more than your classic Marvel movies. There’s a sci-fi element and some fun battles. It’s not an epic three hour movie. I definitely recommend it.

Fast delivery, I shop at best buy more then amazon now. Best buy always gets to me faster for no subscription.

Very fun movie! Even more so if you’re a fan of Tom Hardy, Venom, Marvel, superhero movies, and/or action movies! Must see for all fans!
