    Lose connection, Lose money

Connection lost all the time, and I mean all the time. 18hr drive loss exceeded 25times. Mostly Highway and Turnpike driving. Added more minutes, and they never got applied, even thought site said they were. Then account Log in got fudged up. Also Never Buy a 40$ card, if you are not going to use this device on a regular basis..Only buy what the Verizon site amount offer's. Kid at BB advised would credit $10 to account with $40 card. But system rounds up, or down, thus need to buy more time cards to get benefits of credited amount. Worst tech purchase ever, in past 10 years. So spent $120.00 on a new paper weight that only was useful about 60% of the time. My advice would be, to Just use your Data on your phone to load maps and track yourself without being online the whole time, or get a fat yellow marker and pick up a $10.00 Road Atlas at your favorite gas station and do like your parents did, back in the day...

Best Prepaid Hotspot with bad website support

I bought this after I moved to West Des Moines before I get the home internet setup. While it is little expensive over other, Verizon signal here in this area is strong and AT&T, which is my wireless carrier, sucks. After I bought this it took me fairly half-a-day to setup and go online. I am a techie, engineer and I can fairly work with any new system easily. I found that I need to have working internet to activate this and use it. What is the point of buying a hotspot that needs the internet connection to activate and load? Can't the Big Red Verizon, could let me activate it without having internet? AT&T can do it if they have a signal available there. Come'on Verizon! While I recommend this, I advise buyers to activate and load your Hotspot before leaving Best Buy.

I would give this Zero stars if that was an option. Tried to use this device to create an internet connection and wifi network at a vacation home so I could monitor the house when I wasn't there via smart thermostat and security camera. Initial set up of the jetpack was a pain (Verizon Prepaid has terrible customer interface/troubleshooting services). After that ordeal, I was able to easily connect all my devices to the jetpack's wifi network, so all is well, right? NOT. After twelve hours all of the smart devices were offline. I had to physically power cycle the jetpack to reconnect them to the internet (i.e., I had to go back to the house - there is no way to remotely power cycle the jetpack!). Then after 2 hours - same thing! Everything offline again. This device is too UNRELIABLE.

    Difficult Set-up and Website Glitches

It could not be set up as the instructions stated. The device has its own phone number, which is required to set it up, but this number was not provided when I bought it. Even the Geek Squad at Best Buy could not set it up. I finally found a Verizon phone number to contact for the necessary information. If you want to track your data usage, it's very difficult because Verizon doesn't post the information for 24-48 hours afterwards. I ran out of data and tried adding more or upgrading to an unlimited plan, but the MyVerizon site will not let me make any account changes. I unplugged the device and found a different wifi plan. I'm not sure if I will try using it again. When my plan was active, the signal was very good so I would like to use it if the glitches in the website are fixed.

...I’m not so sure why there’s so many bad reviews- I’m like, are we using the same device?! we’re moving, so I decided to strip cable for a tad to save some money & went to Best Buy to purchase. Now one thing Best Buy did do for me was set everything up prior to me leaving; so I’m sure that helped tons! But here at home, with the kids, MULTIPLE devices connected (about 8-9), we’ve been on great speed, with maybe 3-4 (15 second) glitches here and there; but again, it QUICKLY came right back on! it’s making me question getting cable again, and just using it with a roku or something- but so far this little gadget has been AMAZING!!!

At first i was hesitaten about buying this because of the low price. Well, i’m glad i didn’t let that stop me from buying it. Because this baby works like a champ . . . it has great speed on my iphone & laptop. And it also maintained its speed on youtube. And it wasn’t hard to setup . . . just make sure you have about 45 minutes to set it up. And don’t forget to change the admin password . . . you will also have to change the wifi password as well. By the way you can use the admin password for wifi as well. Just make sure it’s strong. You’ll have to login to the device from a browser to change passwords.

Verizon LTE Hotspot worked fine while camping

I purchased the Verizon hotspot so I could access internet while camping in southeast Oklahoma. It was very easy to set up account and the wi-fi worked great. It only had one bar for LTE service, which was better that my ATT cellular telephone that only had one or two bars for 3G service. I was easily able to connect to the internet and the wi-fi was easy to connect and worked well. I used it for e-mail and Facebook, so the prepaid no contract $20 service easily lasted the three days I was there. I plan to use it much more in the fall.

My living arrangement is temporary, and I was looking for temporary access to internet, so I thought I would try this hotspot. I know how to read and follow instructions, but the instructions included with the Ellipsis was neither complete nor clear. It took me 9 hours to figure out how to install, activate, add funds and start using this item. By the time I had it all installed and used internet for half an hour, I had used up the data I had purchased for $35 in two days! Returned item and went to cable company for WiFi.

Great little WiFi hotspot. With Verizon’s unlimited data plan for around $70 per month it performs admirably. Was stuck in a new apartment with no cable or internet for over 3 weeks (the apartments were cable ready but the contractor did not install the drop from outside the building to inside the building yet). Surfed the web and streamed a lot of Netflix, YouTube, Hulu & Sling in those three weeks and this little gem didn’t miss a beat. Pretty good throughput too but I’m sure that varies based on location. You can’t go wrong with this and the unlimited data plan!

I bought this to provide faster internet in my home due to living in a rural area. So far the speed and coverage have been great and exceeded my expectations. I pay for the unlimited data prepaid plan which I think is priced fairly, especially if it means I get internet faster than 3 mb/s! On average with full bars I get about 15 mb/s with this jetpack. I will say though that if you plan to use it for driving/traveling, It will drop signal a few times, also the battery isn’t the best if it is being used heavily.

I needed a hotspot for travel and bought this on a whim. It worked fine and fit my needs with the included data, but the Verizon data plans and replenishment options were really confusing. Seems they've changed their structure a number of times and - for me - it was unclear what I was signing up for. I've since moved to a cellular plan that allows me to use my mobile phone as a hotspot. That's the way to go if you can - this hotspot puck is probably headed to the historical technology dustbin.

A few weeks ago, a storm hit and caused our internet provider at work to go down. We were without internet for three days. We are a medical facility working off a EMR system, so no access to patient files was sending us into chaos. I heard about these hot spots and decided to try them out. They worked wonders! The speed was incredible and it really saved our butts when it came down to being able to access our patients charts.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. We got this because my husband is a trucker and we live on our truck. So wifi is a must. I had issues from the day i bought it because the best buy phone people had no idea how to set it up and did it wrong twice. This only gives you 20gb of data. I have more than that on my phone. I took it back and got refunded my mom right before christmas. If youre looking for unlimited wifi with NO throttling go to unlimitedleasing.com 139.00 a month all the data for wifi that your heart desires.

I like this small hotspot. It's the first I've ever had and it's very handy, easy to use, easy to carry with me, easy to recharge. It works with more than device so I can connect my laptop and my phone at the same time. Verizon's coverage is excellent and the plan I chose adds an additional 7 GB a month at no charge for a total of 15 GB. So far this is plenty of GB for what I wanted, but it would be easy to buy more online if needed.

After recently moving to a newly developed area, I found out that internet service was not available. I am in school and my attendance is done online. I was devastated by the news. Ta Da! in come Verizon Jetpack to the rescue. I am so pleased with the prepaid service that I am not considering changing even when cable and internet becomes available in my area. LOL just saying!

I bought this to use as internet for two relatively heavy data consumers (easily over 50gb/month). So far, in the last month, it's been great. With the $70 unlimited plan, we have had no complaints. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the set up. It was really difficult and involved a couple of calls to Verizon. And I'm pretty tech savvy. It was just not start up friendly.

I bought this for a 10 day road trip knowing I wouldn’t see a real internet connection wher3 I was going. The hotspot worked as advertised, although much slower than my home internet, seemed like it would surf the web fine, but when I logged into my office computer it felt like the old dial up speed. Got me by so I was able to keep up with the daily business of running my company.

The device itself is straight forward. It is a hotspot. What I DONT like is that Verizon cheats you out of data that you bought. Used 1G in 1night just checking email; not opening it. And getting bonus points on "fun" games. Now I have a useless electronic item. I refuse to buy anymore data because of this cheating on data.
