The way that this is built is meant to protect it by building in some shock absorbency. I'm not sure if it was just a one-off issue but we discovered that ultimately this couldn't play 12" clearly. The sound was very garbled to say the least because it was reverberating off a non-stabilized component. Would not recommend due to the way it's built.
