This camera has the basic features of an action camera. It is clearly low end, but so is the price. Menus are hard to navigate, I accidentally turned it to time lapse mode at one point. Perhaps the biggest downfall is the poor battery performance. Certainly won't last long a long day of adventures. One plus Is that the waterproof case definitely holds up.

A very reasonably priced action camera that is real 4K. This is the best action camera I have ever tested. From the box and packaging to the hardware and software, it has all been made with customer usability and performance in mind.

Purchased this camera last year to use for hunting/fishing, skiing. Battery is terrible, and hard/impossible to find a replacement. Went back to BB, contacted vivitar customer service, and even went to batteries plus, all unable to help. This was the response to asking what battery I need! Dear Sean, Thank you for your email. I bought two of these, one for me and one for my sister. They have not had any problems with theirs, but mine wont stay charged out of the box. I've left it charging for hours, and says its charged, and as soon as you unplug it, it stays on for about 3 seconds then shuts down. I am hoping its just the battery.

Best purchase I've made in awhile. For 1/5 the price of a top of the line go pro, it gets the job done and comes with a lot of extra stuff!

The battery did not last very long. Tried to find another battery thinking the one that came with it was just crap, could not find anything online with the same cheap Chinese model # the battery had. Contacted Vivitar support and they stated: Unfortunately, we do not manufacture separate parts or we do not deal with sales we request you to check with any nearby store are online stores to purchase it and also we do not have the part number for the unit.

I was looking for an action camera to start with, found this brand with all accessories coming free, since it's winter couldn't use much, found battery life not that great, need to use more and do multiple charge to see if it improves.

MY VIVITAR 4K DVR 917HD GOES TO TIMELAPS MODE ON IT'S OWN. I'd check the settings to be sure that Timelaps is OFF, it records well and in normal mode but then once put it to charge, it goes to Timelaps mode on it's own, which instills the feeling of unsurety. I'd give this a ZERO star if I could. Perhaps I have a dud? Although they offer a 1 year warranty, I'd have to pay for shipping one way and have to wait, according to their support team, 3 weeks or more.

Bought this action camera 4 years ago on sale for $49.99. Does a decent job, not like a Gopro but still good. As many others have said, the battery life is poor. Trying to find a replacement battery is near impossible however, the trick around that is to hook an external battery using a cord same as you would on fly recharging your phone. Down side is, can't use in clear case.

Great quality video and great pictures. If you want to start recording or taking pictures with this kind of camera, this is your choice.

This came very nicely packaged with a great zipper case. Super easy to operate. Great seller.

Does not include the hdmi cable as stated and I cannot get it to work as a web cam. throws a wrench into my plans there. Other then that. Decent little camera.

Bought this for my daughter. Did not work out of the box. Kept freezing up and had to pull the battery to reset it. Was leary because of the price. Dont waste your time of money. Dont buy it!

Poor quality and not worth the time is you intending on using it for serious recording.

When I turn it on shows a full bar but when I take it off it will not turn on so is there any one who can help me with this

I bought on 3/17/18 and i have not been able to enjoy yet. The unit freeze from day one and in order to reset i have to remove the battery. I upgraded the memory according to troubleshooting manual and the problem persist. Now the company wants me to paid to be send to repair in NJ and it will take 3 weeks from the day they receive the unit to get repair or replace!!! Not happy
