    Really happy with my purchase

I reviewed alot of similar speaker bars and even considered buying a speaker base, but I felt certain I would be happier with a system that was a speaker bar and separate bass module. I am pleased to say I do not regret my purchase. After some playing around with the different settings, I believe I have the settings right and it sounds great. It produces tons of bass but it can be toned down to not be overpowering. The voices are clear and surround sounds great too.

    Upgrade your LCD TV sound

I bought this product for two reasons: First, I wanted to improve the sound coming from my 40" TV speakers, but I wasn't interested in theater or surround sound with booming bass because I view the TV in a room that's about 12 by 16 feet.. Second, when I switched between the Smart Hub and the Verizon set-top box, I had to change the sound level by 30 to 40 points. The Vizio S4221 solved both problems. The basic setup was very easy. Fine tuning required a little patience, but it included adjusting dialog levels in the center channel, setting virtual surround sound and programming the set-top box to turn on the sound bar. (You have to press the volume to turn on sound whenever you turn on the TV. But the sound turns off automatically when you turn off the TV.) Truly a very good value for the price.

    Perfect for my living room!

This sound bar works great for me. I have a long living room and mounted a 55" tv in one corner. There wasn't really a good way for me to put in a 5.1 surround system there, so I looked into sound bars. This system puts out great sound that absolutely fills my room, and the subwoofer has a TON of output, and works wonderfully back in the corner out of the way, only needing a power wire to an outlet. I also love the bluetooth connection to my Android to put Pandora rocking through my home. It also works great with my home entertainment, one HDMI connection to my laptop, and movies sound great playing through it. I'm completely happy with this purchase, and am more than happy paying less than bigger name companies for such a great product!

    Excellent Soundbar for the price

This soundbar is excellent for the price. It has a wonderful subwoofer that really pumps all of the bass. It also has a sleek style that is much different than the previous Vizio bar that I owned. This one is completely black on the front and the previous one had an annoying silver bar across the front. The only issue is with the delayed sound. If you have to pause and restart a program or movie there is about a second delay of when the sound kicks back in. This causes alot of rewinding or preparing beforehand. It is the most annoying feature of this soundbar, but that really isn't saying too much.

When I renovated my den my wife would not allow me to put my 5 Bose speakers and a subwoofer back in the room because of the space they took up and in her words the ugly wires. I won't say the sound is better but for tv viewing I don't miss my former surround setup.and the Bluetooth is fantastically easy to use and great when I want someone to listen to something off my phone , i am quite impressed with the sound quality and the price value.

To replace my surround sound system.

For the price this is the best sound I have had in years. I have a moderated high frequency hearing loss and at times have considerable trouble hearing dialog without having the background sound pealing the paint from the walls. I have been able to adjust the Vizio sound bar to compensate for that with most TV shows and recorded media. I was so pleased with this that I did not return it back to Best Buy after I received it even though I found I could get it about 25% cheaper at a major discount chain. I have heard rumors in the past that electronics are inferior at this other retailer because of their purchasing policy. So I decided to keep the known good thing. The sound is so good for me that when I wear my hearing aids others in the room ask to have the volume turned up. That is a real switch for this house hold. As for the remote I think Vizio could have spent an extra couple of bucks to make the display a bit bigger and thus making the set-up just a little less confusing. To make setting changes you definitely need the instructions to know what codes the bar is displaying. Overall I am very pleased with this equipment. It replaced a surround sound that I paid 2x the price for less than 2 yrs ago.

    Vizio 2.1 Soundbar

    |
    Posted .

I purchased the Vizio 2.1 soundbar and was impressed with the sound. After a week of looking around on the internet, I saw that Walmart was selling the Vizio 5.1 soundbar for a few more dollars than this 2.1. I immediately boxed up my Vizio 2.1 and exchanged it for the 5.1. BestBuy matched Walmart's price. The Vizio 2.1 sounds great, but I prefer a dedicated center speaker for dialogue. That's what the 5.1 Vizio gave me. You still can't go wrong with the Vizio S4221w-C4. All the other soundbars on display looked rinky dink. The Vizio soundbar has a nice larger cabinet. Looks better under my tv than having a small size soundbar. And the Vizio soundbars are pretty loud for my medium size living room.

    Must-have for upgraded sound

I bought this as an open-box item, and I lucked out as there seemed to be no issues with this product. It has performed perfectly using the optical cable to my tv and pairing with various bluetooth enabled devices. I replaced my broken receiver and two nice bookshelf speakers, and I don't miss that setup at all. This has streamlined the look of our tv and entertainment center. The sound quality is pretty top notch, one of the best at this price range. Don't look over the Vizio name.

    Great bang for buck!

Overall, this soundbar has great sound quality. Very accurate reproduction of sound while being just a little treble heavy. The SRS virtual surround is convincing. I wish it had at least a 3 band EQ or some presets, however. Lots of connection options with all included cables! The LCD on the remote is a difficult to see. Definitely needed a backlight. All in all, one of the best in this price range.

Best dollar for dollar sound bar available

I upgraded my several year old Vizio and sound bars have come a long way since then. Sounds our crisp and deep for this price point and the bar looks great next to any TV (mine is a new Panasonic plasma 60in). Setup was a breeze and pairing of wireless sub and Bluetooth were seamless. I'm not going to complain too much about bass, don't buy a sound bar if that is your main desire. This does put out a lot for the money and works great at my home. With all the sound options and a tiny remote, Vizio had to jam a lot with only a few buttons. Not very intuitive, but my Harmony remote synced perfectly. I've listened to a lot of bars and searched the Internet far and wide. You will be hard pressed to find a better value/performance combo out there. I rarely give 5 stars to anything, this should be 4.5 if I could.

An outstanding upgrade for the money.

We picked this sound bar to match up with a Vizio 55 we had recently purchased and had mounted to a full motion wall bracket. I was able to fabricate brackets from some steel bar to mount the sound bar directly to the tv base and it looks professional, follows the tv direction and sounds fantastic! The wireless bass is the defining element. Good sound with no hard 'thumping'. I'd give it 5 stars, but the remote, though very easy to use, is not back lit making it difficult at best to read the display. It would have polished this product off perfectly!

    Excellent for the Price

Pretty simple review here. For the price, this was one of the better sounding sound bars for its intended purpose...improving the sound of a flat panel. Has plenty of power for medium sized rooms and dialog is very clear. Also was impressed by the sound quality of music streamed via Bluetooth. No functionality or connectivity issues like other sound bars I've used. It just works and sounds very good. There is better out there, but not at this price point.

    Good Product For The Price

I am happy with this sound bar after using it for two months. It gives a quality sound for my samsung Tv which I didn't get before. However I like if three features of this sound bar is improved. 1. It couldn't pair this soundbar with my samsung 55 LCD Tv with its pairing instructions.. Fortunately my tv had its own feature to pair soundbar with it. 2. I use the optical cable to connect them. How ever soundbar is still not turn on automatically when Tv is turned on. I hate it. 3. This is not a fault of the soundbar but personally I need more base from subwoofers.

TV Speakers are like icing on cake

I was not thinking of a sound bar, but when it found out it was a Bluetooth capable unit I was sold. I am extremely pleased with the clarity . I often have to use the closed captioning to watch movies and hear them, but this Vizio clear sound makes it good for me . The bar looks very good sitting below the screen ;love it!

Best $300 and under sound bar

    |
    Posted .

Exceeded expectations, it's a little on the thick side but the sound makes up for it, the remote is awesome but if you have a universal remote its hard to tell what input you are on, I have the harmony hub so it displays the input but if you have a non-display remote may be frustrating, deep bass, easy setup. The surround sound setting makes a difference but I choose to adjust the settings manually. Sounds like a $500+ sound bar

    Very good soundbar for money

Purchased this soundbar to replace Toshiba bar that I always had sub and bluetooth issues with. This bar is as advertised. Super easy install(optical cable that was supplied was to short for my setup but nice that did come with one) Bluetooth pairing was simple and range is easy 40ft. Sub works great. Overall soundbar sounds good for a low price unit and fits my needs well. If you are looking for better sound than you get from poor flatscreen TV speakers with a minimalist look then this bar fits the bill.

I bought this system to go with my recent Vizio m-series purchase; setup and integration with the Vizio TV was seamless and I had everything up and running in minutes. The sound quality far exceeded my expectations with crystal clear highs and clean lows - to the point that it sounds better than my older Kenwood 7.1 receiver setup. Other notes: The wireless subwoofer paired immediately, no issues. The TV remote works with the soundbar and does not cause any interference. Bluetooth pairing and playback worked seamlessly and had the expected wireless range of around 35 feet.

    Great Speaker for the price

I love the speaker for the price. I got this for my man cave. Wanted a little extra in there instead of just the tv speakers and this was it. it comes with a Bluetooth subwoofer to give it some power but not to much that the wife is yelling at me to turn it down. works great for a smaller space like mine. The speaker itself is even Bluetooth and I can listen to Rhapsody and Pandora on it if I like!

Great, and be careful with subwoofer placement

    Posted .

I researched sound bars for days before finally picking this one. The experts all seem to agree that this one sounds the best for under $300, and is competitive with sound bars that cost twice as much. I agree, it definitely sounds great (best sound system I've ever owned by far), as long as you find a good location for the subwoofer. I initially placed my subwoofer such that the fabric covered side was pointing at a flat surface a few inches away. The sound reflected in such a way that it was very easy to tell which sounds were coming from the subwoofer, which was distracting and annoying. I relocated the subwoofer to a more open area on the other side of my TV and now I can't tell where the bass is coming from at all; all sound seems to be coming from the sound bar itself, as it should. So if you're having trouble with directional bass, or deep voices sounding muddy or boomy, this could be your problem. I do have some minor complaints. One: basically the entire front of the bar is wrapped in fabric, which makes it super inconvenient to pick up without holding at least part of it by the fabric. Two: there's basically no clearance around the port for the power connector, so you have to force the power cable in at a slight angle, which feels like very shoddy design. Three: the remote is very good but it seems like it should have a dedicated Bluetooth button for those of us who switch between TV and Bluetooth inputs frequently. Four: if you pause a movie (sound) for a few minute and then un-pause, the sound fades in over ~2 seconds, which makes it easy to miss some dialogue. Overall these are small complaints and not nearly enough for me to deduct a star from this excellent product.

Sounds Good especially for the Price

    |
    Posted .

Soundbar set up easily. Volume controls synched up with TV remote per the instructions. Sound is good. It seems a little weak in the very large room it is in, but I haven't "turned it up" to test it. Works well for what I intended, which was to postpone or completely avoid buying a receiver and surround speakers for the TV. It's good enough for that especially considering the price. Only complaint would be a need for more gradation in the volume levels with the remote. Goes from can't hear it to a little too loud in one step.
