one connection, everything locked in app

This bar does not have HDMI passthrough (or any audio out) which made a wired connection impossible. So I wanted to try bluetooth, but all options are locked behind the vizio mobile app, including a simple bluetooth pairing. I should not need to create a vizio account and download their information stealing app to simply connect a bluetooth speaker. Shame on Vizio.

Great Purchase
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got it on clearance for $85. I bought it to pair with a projector I also ordered on Best Buy. Although the projector doesn’t get here till a few more days, I tried it out with one of my home tvs and the sound was great! I questioned the subwoofer at first but when its cue came in during the movies it did its job very well and gave theater quality. Do be aware that if your tv is older and doesn’t have some sort of bluetooth capability it will need to have a specific Hdmi port (hdmi ARC/eARC) its not a regular hdmi port. The tv I tried it out on was an older model but I use a chromecast on that tv and through the chromecast I was able to connect via bluetooth and got the soundbar working. I also connected to my macbook. I had a little trouble getting it on at first but I figured out that once its paired to the tv or whatever device you’re using you just have to press the bluetooth button on the actual soundbar and it will activate the connection. I’ll come back to leave another review on how it holds up over time, but I assure you that right off the bat it’s spectacular!

It takes a bit to figure out the setting so that all the sounds are clear because at the start most things are pretty quiet and you’ll think the tv speakers might be better. Just mess with the settings a bit

I just followed the instructions that came with the box and everything worked. Volume control via HDMI ARC meant I didn't need the phone app.
