The picture is fine. Takes a bit more tweaking than an E-Series to get right, esp. w/ saturation.
Off-axis just as bad as any -VA type panel.
Great that it's 1080p
Supposedly most Ex-C2 Series and lower Vizio panels are -Native- 60Hz (not "effective"), so maybe 60Hz isn't so bad in this set.
.
I didn't notice any of the Cable TV, or VOD playback blurriness attributed to D-Series in other reviews, ex: by rtings.com. It looked fine.
Bootup-time & Smart functions are just as fast to start, or maybe 10% faster than my E40-C2, so that's also good.
.
Haven't tried them, but headphone & VGA on the back is pretty good to have. I've read mixed-reviews using it as a computer monitor, though.
.
The real problem is the Audio System.
It's not that it's tinny-sounding.
It just distorts the Bass frequencies of all the music I tried on it. Anything like a bass-guitar, or something low & more sustained than ex. a kick-drum hit.
.
-I also verified this on 3 separate units in 2 different stores with the exact same settings, and same music, at reasonable (not crazy) listening volumes.
This is with surround on or off, and even Volume-leveling on or off, Eq: flat. Obvs. volume-leveling makes it much much worse.
.
I'm guessing it's an Underpowered Amp with power-stiffening caps that are way too small.
I found photos of the E40-C2 and D24h-C1 motherboards online (because the D1 is so new, it was unavailable) and the caps near the 4 220nH output inductors (bottom left on each board) do look smaller on the D24.
More evidence in that you have to turn the volume up -a lot- when vol-leveling is off, to get any loudness out of the set at all.
And when vol-leveling is on, it seems like too much preamp, into not enough power-amp, into small speakers== bass frequency distortion.
.
I A/B'd this against the E40-C2 and the E does not distort. -Funny b/c the speakers are the same width & only about ~1.25 inches longer.
I emailed Vizio, but I'm sure they'll just ignore it, instead of making an improved Rev.2 board.
.
The only temporary fix seems to be going into EQ and turning the 100Hz and 300Hz bands all the way down to -12.
.
So, fine I guess. With some compromises. The SmartTV functionality will be better than the 24" Samsung 4500-series.
If you don't need/want any Smart-functionality, maybe the regular 24" Samsuing 4000-series might have as-good/better picture and possibly better (at least non-distorting) sound. -If you can put up with 720p.

I use this primarily for TV app development, and thus far it meets my needs. Even at this size 1080p was important to me. Don't use the smart features, so have no strong opinion on them.

Researched and this is the perfect choice for a small space like a kitchen or bedroom. It's a Smart TV and easy to set up and the price is just right for the additional TV often needed around the house.

This is a nice, small, smart TV! I wanted something small for the garage workbench and wanted wi-fi built-in. After comparing a few 24" models, I kept coming back to this model based on: built-in WiFi, SmartTV, 1080p, and price. I got it on sale and have some reward dollars to put toward it and it included free shipping to my residence. No-brainer. Setup was relatively easy with the only complaint being that there is no keyboard functionality on the remote so entering ID's and Passwords for the WiFi and Smart functions is tedious, but that's pretty standard except for a small portion of TV's that include a keyboard. I have this hooked up to a Mohu Leaf HD antenna and can pick up all of the local channels in HD. Due to its small size and light weight, it'll be a very nice, portable TV for using on the patio this summer also! Audio quality is as expected for a small TV and picture quality is good. There is a small amount of ghosting during fast-movement on screen, but I've been able to fix most of that just by adjusting the TV's settings. Overall, for the sub-$100 I paid for this, it's a great TV!

Ever since Time Warner Cable went to all digital access in our apartment, I stuck with a converter for our spare room. Now that its Spectrum, they do not support the converter, so I had to bite the bullet and get a cable box. What does any of this have to do with the TV? I had an older TV in the bedroom, and since that TV ran its use of a tube TV, I needed to get a newer one, so I could watch my Netflix.
This is a great TV, I actually have a 32" Vizio for my bedroom. Easy to operate, easy to get it all hooked up to cable box, dvd/blu-ray player. As with all new TVs, the speakers are on the backside on underneath. I did not hang the TV, its on a Wire rack. The sound does take some time getting used to because without a soundbar, you are constantly upping the volume. I am not worried about that because after all, it is my spare bedroom, used as my office.
It has great picture, connects to Netflix quickly (1080p Smart TV). I highly recommend getting 1080pm. For the price, it was well worth it.

I wanted a small smart TV for my bedroom. It was easy to install and connect to the wifi and computer , so I can switch anytime between the TV and computer . You need to buy the HDMI cable though . The quality of the image and sound is great for the price. So far so good!!

This Vizio 24" 1080p Smart TV is a basic model which is what I was looking for. This is our first Smart TV and we didn't need a big screen for where we would be using it. I was very satisfied with the set up and the ease of connecting it to our wifi as we are not the most technically advanced folks. We were happy to find it easily streams from our Amazon account. At times the picture gets very dark even with making changes to settings; I am still working on getting this right. I've used only a few of the smart apps, but plan to learn more about them soon. It's neat to see weather reports from the cities I've added to the on-screen app. Overall it's a decent TV and when we are ready for a bigger screen model, I wouldn't hesitate to go with another Smart TV now.

I was looking for small TVs to replace an older one in the kitchen. This 24" Vizio was the perfect size for that spaces and was easy to wall mount with a small swing-arm bracket. Being a "smart TV" was not important, but it's a great feature to have at this price. After tweaking the adjustments, the picture quality is excellent with clear off-center viewing. The remote is the standard Vizio model, but I use DirecTV remotes, so I can't comment much on that. My biggest complaint is sound quality - it's like listening to a 1970's RCA TV. For my needs, that's OK but it is noticeable. Overall, it's an excellent value and I'd buy it again (in fact, I did - I put one in the bathroom, too).

Great little TV. Perfect for small places. I bought it in case a storm comes, I can have a TV in the bathroom. I just keep it on the kitchen otherwise. I did a lot of research especially for how little I use it but it was the best tv out there with it's size for the price at the time.

nice small 1080p TV/monitor with many features

Needed a small monitor/TV that I could easily carry around to set up & maintain surveillance systems. Also wanted to be able to use as monitor for my laptop, and having built in digital TV tuner a plus.
Saw this Vizio in Bestbuy, right size, and one of few that was 1080p or better in this class. Had the features I wanted, so bought it.
Was glad to find it works great as a monitor, having HDMI, RGB component, composite (A/V) inputs, as well as RF input for over-the-air TV broadcast signal. Everything worked as it should, with a sharp, clear picture as expected. This unit also comes with internet connectivity for online streaming content such as Netflix, Hulu, iHeart Radio, and more (have not tried those as this is just a monitor for my purposes).
This tv has a good internal tuner that picks up digital HD local channels. I was surprised how many stations it picked up just with a small rabbit ear antenna, even though my area is a poor signal area due to terrain. Reception of over-the-air TV stations was excellent (in HD when broadcast). As expected, video was excellent from HDMI and RGB sources. There is some noticeable pix smearing and artifacts on fast motion, typical of LCD type screens... but isn't bad, and most people probably wouldn't notice unless using it for gaming. There are a host of settings and adjustments, including a game mode. I found the default settings adequate for most uses.
My only gripe on this TV is it defaults to wanting to connect to internet and streaming sources upon power-up every time it is plugged in, and the input source tab does not wait very long to select a video source. In fact, once you press "input", you have to rapidly press up or down arrow to select the desired source... and do it QUICKLY, else it will default back to last setting, or select whatever you just scrolled past. It doesn't wait for you to press enter, or give you much time to think about it... you have about 1/2 second to find and scroll to the desired input source before the unit selects what it thinks I wanted. VERY VERY irritating. For most people, that may not be an issue; but as I use this unit for multiple purposes, I am constantly moving it from location to location, and selecting from multiple video sources. There is no excuse for poor firmware programming like this, but all too common.
Two other issues to report -
One is a small thin white line (screen defect) across the top 1/3 of my screen, but only visible as viewed from above. As I don't view from above, it's not noticeable during normal use... but irritating to know it's there. Lastly, audio is typical for LCD TV's/monitors - not great. Acceptable, but sound quality is not the forte` of this unit (like most flat panels). Not important for my primary use of this unit, but don't expect full range audio or even something approaching what many older CRT type TV's had... but that's typical in flat panel LCD units these days.
Overall, seems to be a nice small tv that I use more as a monitor than anything else. So far, after a month of use, no failures or significant issues to report. It's lightweight, easy to carry around. Works great for my needs as a multi-purpose monitor, which also happens to be a TV!

I was in the market for a replacement TV after the one I received as a gift from family finally ran it's course. I checked many places for info about some decently priced HDTVs better than the one I had before. I happened across this TV. It was a good value as it was also a smart TV and it had features I needed such as a headphone jack for my little audio setup (as I do not own a surround sound system).
After using it for almost a year, it's still going strong. The smart TV functionality isn't the best but I don't use it for that anyway since it was meant for playing my video game consoles on. It has modern proportions in comparison to the previous TV I had (as the old one was a bit more square). Even the sound quality is decent without external speakers. I'm also happy it retained the component cables in case I want to bring out older consoles without having to purchase an HDMI converter box.
There are also many different settings to customize the picture and sound quality. I had trouble deciding on what settings to use, especially for sound (as sometimes this equalizer function drowned out sound too much). Also there is a setting for "games" where it adjusts itself to actively smooth out potential lag (I found this setting useless when playing rhythm games like Project Diva).
All in all, I think this is a great TV for the price, there are decent custom settings, you can have a custom audio setup, you can play old and new game consoles, it's travel sized and lightweight and even the cord is nice and durable for long-term use. I would definitely recommend this to any of my friends looking to purchase a cheap but good quality TV.
Also, one would have to be mindful of how the TV is set up. The stands are small and are on opposite ends. There's nothing to worry about if you have a traditional desk, TV stand, etc. setup. but if you have smaller surfaces, the switch from a middle stand to separate stands may pose a bit of a setup challenge sometimes (at least for me).

We have cable in the house but not in the bedroom, something about not being able to run cable through ceiling and walls as per code. IDK but this tv saved us. It's a smart tv so we can run externals off it or use it to connect to any one of about 20 different services, including Hulu, Amazon prime, Netflix, visual, you name it. It's on there. We get a strong signal, picture quality is very nice. Setup was super simple, and it's lightweight.

Looking for a small digital tv to place on my desktop. 32" screens plentiful, but most hard to find smaller screen. This Vizio has quality image at 1080 and is a Smart TV as well. Very good value for money. Only comment negative is I don't like the "feet" of the television. Easy to have one move off desktop making room. Center stand much more secure. The hand controller is rather cheap an not that logical. Ended up using the cable box control. Overall most pleased.

Getting harder and harder to find a TV of this size for those smaller spots where you don't have room for a big one. This one is high quality picture, good enough sound for its size and very easy to set up. Visio apps make accessing network sites easy. In the end, I did add a Visio sound bar but only because I got an incredible deal on one. This would be a great purchase for anyone.
