If you have the cash and are looking for an outstanding sound experience, than look no further. Once everything was connected and I turned it on, I was blown away with the crisp quality. I’ve had my fair share of soundbars, and this is by far the best I’ve owned. The difference is extremely noticeable, especially if you’re going from tv speakers to this setup. This unit is extremely easy to setup. Once you find where you want to position the speaker, the only thing left to do is turn it on! Pros: Sound, wireless subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, Google Assistant, wall mounting capability, Bluetooth, WIFI enabled, easy setup, clean look and lightweight. Con: 1 HDMI ARC output, 46 in. sound bar so it was larger than anticipated and remote seems cheap. Overall, this is by far the best sound system I’ve had. Best of all, I don’t need 6-8 smaller speakers placed strategically around my room to get the best sound experience. One sound bar and one subwoofer, and boom it does everything I need. My only ding is that has one HDMI output. Don’t get me wrong, it has other sound connections, but you want only the best option for a bar that’s $700+ after tax. The soundbar is 46 inches long, so it’s a bit larger than I thought, but it’s super lightweight so it makes up for it. You can’t go wrong with the wireless subwoofer. It allows you to place it exactly where you want to, so I’m super happy with that. In the end, I highly recommend this setup! *apologies for the poor quality photo. I have this in a darker room, so making the photo lighter without flash was my only option.

Cinematic sound in the space of a sound bar

Bottom Line: If you want cinematic sound without a multiple speaker setup, buy the VIZIO 3.1.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar System. Pros: Immersive sound, Dolby Atmos, clear voice/dialogue out of the box, great remote, host of ancillary features including Google integration and multi-room streaming Cons: on-board buttons difficult to see/use, only 1 HDMI input Review: I’ve owned several 2.1/soundbar home theatre systems over the years, and, without a doubt, this system comes the closest to providing a cinematic audio experience. The sound is remarkably immersive, and I was particularly impressed with the distinctness of the center, left, and right audio channels. Notably, left and right channel audio sounded like they were actually to my sides, which is surely a benefit of having the speakers further apart in the 46” bar. Overhead audio (the flagship feature of Dolby Atmos) is created by two up-firing speakers, where the sound is then bounced off the ceiling back down to the viewer. These speakers definitely add to the audio experience by creating a “fuller” sounding space, even though my living room is not ideal for the Atmos setup (we have fissured drop ceiling tiles, which are designed to disperse and dampen acoustics rather than reflect them). One of the standout features for me was how clear dialogue was out of the box. For anyone who’s used a home theatre system, voices and dialogue tend to be too quiet compared to other audio effects, which often leads to constant volume adjusting (turning dialogue up and sound effects down). With this system, the audio is balanced well, and provides a natural listening environment. I was also pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and thoughtfulness of the remote control. Instead of housing dozens of buttons for specific features, the remote includes and LCD screen and toggle button so you know what mode/task you’re working on at any given time. The soundbar also includes a host of ancillary features with tight Google/Chromecast integration. Personally, I tend not to use most of these features, with the exception of Bluetooth streaming, but they’re nice additions for those who want them. I only have a couple of minor complaints. First, VIZIO designed the bar to be as visually unobtrusive as possible. With the exception of the aluminum sides, both the soundbar and subwoofer are completely black boxes. The bar has onboard controls, but the buttons blend in so well with the rest of the unit, I can barely see them or what they do without shining a light on them. Second, the bar has just one HDMI input. It’s not a huge issue, but some other sound bars offer multiple passthroughs, which can help with ease setup and use.

Owned It Long Enough for a Review

I've owned this soundbar for a couple of years now. I've had similar issues that others have had when I first starting with the unit. Audio going out in the middle of no where. Sometimes the unit itself would turn off. App (still does) not respond correctly. But through time everything just started working out by itself. Not the most user friendly soundbar but I eventually troubleshot any issues I had with the bar. I believe that the issue of it going off randomly had to do with it being connected with the internet. Once I switched my internet service and had a different password all the issues seemed to work themselves out. I did the initial update for the soundbar and nothing else. I only use it on my Xbox One X and my TCL 6 series TV with the apps built in, both with Dolby Atmos content. For a small space, this is the perfect soundbar. Good for bedrooms, apartments, small living room spaces. A great way to test out the unit is getting to play the 4k Dvd of the Lego Batman movie. The explosions from that movie was the first time I noticed how dolby atmos really transformed how a movie could be presented. John Wick is also another movie where the gunshots sounded bassy enough to sound like they were actually coming from the room itself. The soundbar does have too much bass even adjusted to negative two. It drowns out the mids and highs sometimes, but perfect for action movies and video games. I've been happy with my purchase. Even with the initial issues it worked out to be the best first soundbar I could get for my bedroom, and have been considering to buy vizio elevate to upgrade.

I have a very large room with high ceilings where atmos wont work so well, which is why i went with the 3.1.2 vs the 5.whatever.(but i havent really tried it yet) . but i can hear the difference when turning on/off the up fires. plus this one had a wider freq. range. bass sounds nice, movies and music sound just as good as any system i ever had (well almost any). connected rather easy to the arc & synced with my visio tv. the remote is blah with a dark lcd, the dot matrix display type deal on the bar is rather lame, though nice looking in a minimalistic way. im sure ill get used to that.

I own and use other Vizio soundbars so I was familiar with the setup, display and remote. But this soundbar is on a whole different level. The sound and sound field it creates are stunning. There are a number of variables that contribute to getting the most out of this soundbar. First off to truly experience the height channels you need a smooth flat ceiling, preferably 8-10 feet. I have this in a large great room with just such ceilings. The height channels really shine with Dolby Atmos content, there is no doubt that they add a true sense of theater like immersion. They also add an expanded sound field with non-Dolby Atmos content when left on. Another variable is knowing your settings and when and how to use them, as well as using the correct cables and taking advantage of the ARC HDMI input. The base from the subwoofer is outstanding and very clean, I own a Definitive Technology SuperCube that I use in a separate full component surround sound system and it is one of the best subwoofers you can get, it costs more than this entire soundbar, and honestly this Vizio sub can compete with it, it's shockingly good. For some that don't enjoy such low frequency punch they may want to turn it down just a touch as it is very powerful. I like it at default level as it is well balanced with the soundbar for most content. I was most surprised at how good the midrange is from this soundbar. It is really strong and yet balances perfectly with the highs and low end from the sub, Vizio did a great job of tuning the crossover frequencies and it really shows. For music switch the EQ to the music preset and it does a fantastic job with music, another surprise I didn't expect as many soundbars that shine with Dolby and movies are often lacking for music. Not this soundbar, it is excellent for music! I researched every Dolby Atmos soundbar on the market for months and finally decided on this Vizio to fit my needs and get the most for my money. I could not be happier, it is all I hoped it would be and more. Don't hesitate to buy it, IF you know what your doing and how to use it, you will love it and get the most bang for your buck.

So I went through a plethora of soundbars. 1 after the the other because for some reason couldnt test audio at best buy but on top of that even if you could you cant tweak the settings. So I kept bringing home soundbars and taking them back because I was unsatisfied. Including multiple Samsung and LG soundbars. Then I went with this guy and holy cow this thing pounds. I'll admit that other sound bars may have been a little more clear but if you want a true home theater experience you need bass to back it up for all the explosions and deep rumbles. I also used to have a vizio soundbar and I hated the dot display they used but they fixed that by putting a digital display in the remote. 15/10 recommend.

Awesome sound bar and sub. It sounds amazing in my apartment living room. Bass is very powerful, and the soundbar can get as loud as you need it. Vertical sound channels aren't amazing if you don't have a flat ceiling though.

This product sounds amazing. However, if you do not want to constantly have problems, stear clear. Everytime I switch channels from my cable box, it has 5-20 seconds of hard static. I have switched hdmi cables more than a few times to try and get it to stop the static, to mo avail. I have tried everything and cannot get it connected to the internet. It randomly stops channeling sound all the time. I have to power on and off several times a day. I consider myself pretty savvy when it comes to electronics and cannot troubleshoot any of these problems. I spent hours on the phone with Vizio tech support, and no fix.

CONTINUED FROM MY TV REVIEW. THIS SOUND BAR AGAIN HAD GOOD REVIEWS, FIT THE NEEDS I HAVE FOR SPACE AND MATCHED WELL WITH THE PX65-G1 TV. FROM THE OUTSET THIS BAR WOULD JUST TURN OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHOW. CALLED VIZIO AND THEY SENT A NEW REPLACEMENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO 3 DIFFERENT UNITS!!!! ON THE THIRD NOW THE VOLUME JUST TURNS DOWN BY ITSELF. YOU CAN WATCH IT ON THE TV AS IT HAPPENS. ACCORDING TO VIZIO, THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND TESTED THE LAST UNIT I RETURNED TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY DID AND CLAIM IT’S A SOFTWARE ISSUE. IN ORDER TO FIX IT THEY WILL HAVE TO CREATE THE UPDATE AND WHO KNOWS HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE. OH, AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS TO USE THE SOUNDBAR REMOTE TO TURN THE BAR BACK ON. THE VIZIO TV REMOTE CONTROLS THE VOLUME, BUT CAN’T TURN IT BACK ON. SO I HAVE TO HAVE BOTH REMOTES JUST IN CASE. THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRONICS I HAVE EVERY HAD.

    Impressive directional sound quality!

This system is definitely one that you can hear and feel! The sound quality is most impressive, with extremely deep bass and overwhelming object based sound. This sound bar comes with 3 straight firing speakers, 1 wireless subwoofer, and 2 upward firing speakers. Dolby Atmos in the theaters can provide up to 128 different sound objects, creating an incredible level of depth and sound direction. While home systems are a little more limited, they can mimic virtually the same amount of depth and direction, based on the quality and amount of speakers included in your system, up to 24.1.10. This system is 3.1.2, yet it delivers the impact of a system at least twice as large. The bass literally vibrates through my floor and can be felt at least 2 rooms away. The sound at just 30% is enough to start to hurt sensitive ears, yet everything comes through very clear, and full of impact. Videos that actually utilize the directional sound are amazingly very accurate with the sound direction. It's crazy how easy this system throws sound around the room. For true Dolby Atmos output, it is recommended to connect your sound bar directly via HDMI. If you are connecting from your HDTV, you can use the optical or coaxial outputs, however the best and full potential of the system will only be heard through the HDMI(ARC) input. To enable the audio return through the HDMI, you must have the (HDMI Anynet+ /CEC)feature enabled on your tv. If you were using this port as an actual input, you will need to plug that cable into the HDMI input slot on the sound bar, and plug the other HDMI cable from your HDTV with ARC to the other HDMI slot in the sound bar. Make sure to select the HDMI source in your sound bar settings. The system also comes with a Blu-Ray sampler disc, that will help you to sample some true Dolby Atmos, or Dolby Digital plus. If you have everything configured correctly, you should be able to hear the Atmos tracks on the disc, otherwise you will only hear the Digital Plus audio. The system also has a Bluetooth receiver to stream music from phones or other sources, it also works with Chromcast, and your Google Assistant. The sound bar also has an ir learning feature, that lets it learn your TVs volume controls, so that you can easily change the volume of the sound bar with your regular TV remote. Vizio really did a great job with this sound system, it's full of high quality audio and features!

I already have three surround sound systems , two Samsung and one LG with similar setup as this one. I really couldn't wait to get this hooked up which took all of five minutes, and the first thing I noticed unboxing the system, was how big the speaker box was. After turning it on and going to YouTube, the first thing I look for, was videos with a lot of bass. Oh my God! I could not believe the bass that came from this speaker! I was equally impressed with the soundbar on how clearly everything sounded with the highs and mids. I didn't really experience much sound bouncing off the ceiling and I didn't really like the fact that if you pause a program for too long the system automatically shuts off. I also really didn't like the feel of the remote, it feels really cheap. I also didn't like the fact that the bar didn't have the digital screen on the bar itself. But I have to admit, it is pretty cool having it in the remote, but if I had a choice, it will be on the bar. I still really like this system because it blows my other three surround sound systems out of the water with the best highs the best mid-range and definitely the best bass I've heard so far. The other systems cost more than this one is priced at and now I feel cheated. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a small surround sound system for their bedroom or any smaller area!
