    Great picture/OTT support; lousy controls

Agree with others that the picture is great; sound is ok, but routing to an amplifier/speaker system is best. Nice that it supports Chromecast (fine for me as compared to another reviewer's experience it seems), and big plus that it supports YouTube-TV as well as (if not better than) the Roku Express that we have on our big TV. Con: definitely the remote! The controls on it are hard to see, and use due to faint markings (back-lighting much needed), and smallness of the buttons. The user interface (UI) is not very intuitive, and takes a lot of "practice" to figure out - i.e. switching inputs takes multiple passes to get to the desired one, and "translating" what the non-HDMI ones names mean takes some trial and error. For example the antenna input "name" is the currently tuned-in station number/call letters, so it is not the same on the menu choices from one time to the next if channels are changed much. MUTE BUTTON just stopped working! Will check with Vizio support to see if I can get a remote replacement...

Cheap Remote and No Users Manual

Pros: TV is wonderful - great picture, easy to set up. Cons: Cheapest remote I've ever seen - too lightweight and the tiniest buttons I've ever seen on ANYTHING. And seriously, how cheap does a company have to be to not put a paper Users Guide in with the TV? I would not recommend to anyone.

Television has a good, clear, crisp, picture. Easy set up, and easy to handle. Remote is a bit convoluted (especially for shut off time), and it would be handy to have it backlit. Non-remote function buttons are located in a precarious position on the rear of the TV, that could be difficult to find if TV is located towards a wall.

doesn't work out of the box

We purchased this tv for our daughter for her college dorm room. after giving it to her, we wanted to show it to her and see the really nice picture it had. Well, so much for that. We got it out of the box, plugged it in. It started the setup and got to the first screen where it asks what language. We couldn't get the tv to do anything. changed batteries in the remote, held the remote inches from the tv sensor, still nothing. We looked up online to see what trouble shooting we could do. turned it off and on by the switch on the back of the tv., unplugged the tv and held the power switch down for 15 seconds, took the batteries out of the remote and pushed all of the buttons. put everything back together and tried it again, still nothing!! We called the 1-877 number on the back of the remote, the woman had us do all the things we already did, still nothing. There is supposed to be a light on the remote when you push a button, guess what- no light. so at the minimum the remote is dead, This tv is going back and we are getting the Samsung we were looking at. What a waste of time and a big disappointment for our daughter. GREAT GIFT!!!!! thank god we wanted to test it before our daughter went to college.

    Great Picture; Poor Software

For a 32" TV, the picture and black levels were really good due to the full array local dimming backlighting. The sound was also decent for a 32" TV. Google Chrome casting worked great from apps on a tablet too. However, we ran into a couple issues which made this TV a pain in the butt to keep. If you turn the TV off while Netflix is on, turn the TV back on and change inputs to watch over-the-air antenna channels, you will not be able to change channels using the remote or the phone app remote until going back to Netflix then back to antenna. When you're a cord cutter like my parents, who primarily watch Netflix and local TV, this is a big pain to do on a regular basis. We reset the TV and it started doing it for both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. We exchanged it for another unit, same thing. @@@@@@@@ We ran through remote and TV reset steps with support on both. @@@@@@@ . A Vizio technician came out and verified that it was a software issue. It wouldn't be as annoying if there were a TV button on the remote, instead you have to select the input button and push it 3 or 4 times. My mother was going to keep the TV and just deal with the above until it stopped connecting to the apps. It was connected to the internet but it didn't register it as such. Nothing would reconnect it allowing it to open Netflix except for a 30 minute long factory reset process. There are other interface, settings and remote nuisances which were annoying such as the no TV (antenna) button on the remote. It was slow to open apps taking up to 5 seconds. This time we exchanged it for the just released Samsung N5300. Not as deep darks but it's better in just about every other way. Zero problems and a lot of conveniences. The smart and antenna interfaces are much better. You just hit exit on the remote to get to TV and there is a built in guide for local stations which is really convenient. My mom likes that the remote has a sleep timer button. It's zippy - entering an app is instant. Note that you need to change sound to Optimized but I'll probably get my mom a small sound bar. Cannot recommend this Vizio with all of the issues it had aside from a good picture.
