    Great Picture; Poor Software

For a 32” TV, the picture and black levels were really good due to the full array local dimming backlighting. The sound was also decent for a 32” TV. Google Chrome casting worked great from apps on a tablet too. However, we ran into a couple issues which made this TV a pain in the butt to keep. If you turn the TV off while Netflix is on, turn the TV back on and change inputs to watch over-the-air antenna channels, you will not be able to change channels using the remote or the phone app remote until going back to Netflix then back to antenna. When you’re a cord cutter like my parents, who primarily watch Netflix and local TV, this is a big pain to do on a regular basis. We reset the TV and it started doing it for both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. We exchanged it for another unit, same thing. (We ran through remote and TV reset steps with support on both.). A Vizio technician came out and verified that it was a software issue. It wouldn’t be as annoying if there were a TV button on the remote, instead you have to select the input button and push it 3 or 4 times. My mother was going to keep the TV and just deal with the above until it stopped connecting to the apps. It was connected to the internet but it didn’t register it as such. Nothing would reconnect it allowing it to open Netflix except for a 30 minute long factory reset process. There are other interface, settings and remote nuisances which were annoying such as the no TV (antenna) button on the remote. It was slow to open apps taking up to 5 seconds. This time we exchanged it for the just released Samsung N5300. Not as deep darks but it’s better in just about every other way. Zero problems and a lot of conveniences. The smart and antenna interfaces are much better. You just hit exit on the remote to get to TV and there is a built in guide for local stations which is really convenient. My mom likes that the remote has a sleep timer button. It’s zippy - entering an app is instant. Note that you need to change sound to Optimized but I’ll probably get my mom a small sound bar. Cannot recommend this Vizio with all of the issues it had aside from a good picture.

on screen display teeny tiny and other things

I chose this 32" Vizio Smart TV for my bedroom because of the pricepoint and that it was one of the few 32” models that had 1080p display. I use an HD Antenna for my broadcast. There are 3 things that I do NOT like about this TV. One is the on screen display. Even with my glasses, I cannot make out the channel numbers on the screen. They are very very tiny, and basically unreadable as well as all the other on-screen info. What was Vizio thinking? Knock 1 star off for that. Another is the remote. It is small and cumbersome. May be ok for someone with tiny hands but it literally takes me 2 hands to type in a channel number because of where the keypad is located and the buttons are the size of pinheads. I like a remote that I can pick up and use with 1 hand. At least I can buy a universal remote that has a lighted keypad and bigger buttons at Walmart for $12 to remedy this. Knock another star. The final thing I do not like is the fact that there is no built-in TV guide in the Vizio menu. When you use an antenna, you are not blessed with a TV guide channel. My Samsung offers a wonderful TV guide for HD antenna. It takes a few taps on the remote to get there but at least it's there. Vizio doesn't even offer this TV guide anywhere in it's menu options like Samsung does. Knock another star. For these reasons, I would not buy another Vizio TV. I will say that the picture quality is great. But when you cannot even read the on-screen display with your glasses on because the numbers are so microscopic, I do not like that. I guess I will stick with Samsung for future TV purchases.

Good picture, poor sound, Smartcast is intrusive

Picture quality is good for the money, but sound quality is pretty bad. And for someone who uses it with cable service, not as a Smart TV, the constant requests for agreement with Vizeo and Google terms and conditions, which I do not wish to agree to, are intrusive. Futhermore, the constant attempts at signing me up for Smart TV fucntionality, every time we turn the unit on, get in the way of basic cable TV -watching . Apparently, the TV is not smart enough to figure out, after two weeks of watching, and about 30 attempts to get us agree to Smartcast terms, that we connect to a signalvvia HDMI port I every time we turn it on, because it never returns to HDMI port I input, and we have to reset that every time we turn it on and want to watch TV. And, as others have said, the remote control is way too small. And did I say the audio was poor; do not buy without a sound bar or surround system to use instead of the internal microscopically small speakers. Thus is it apparent that Viseo really only markets this TV, at least at this low price point in order to monetize a record of your TV watching habits. I do wish there was an equavelent TV without the Smartcast feature, but if there was, I expect they'd have to charge more for it.

    Scratchy Sound

At a moderate/typical sound level this vibrates. There’s a reverberation with higher tones. The app set up (Vcast) is a hassle compared to my other smart TVs (Insignia/Roku & Apple TV). Vcast requires an app on my tablet or phone if I want to watch something on the Vizio tv that wasn’t preloaded by the manufacturer. I have to open CBS on my phone & use Bluetooth to stream to my vizio tv. This is not necessary with my other two streaming TVs/devices.

I've used this TV for a couple of months now and find it very annoying. Here's why. The remote has to be aimed very accurately at one small spot else it will be ignored. There is no adjustment for the sound tone quality other than volume. The picture brightness is very limited. And, there is no "grid" function to show you what's playing now and coming up. If none of this bothers you then you may enjoy this TV. I should have stuck to Samsung!

Hello Sparks, there are a couple setting in the TV's audio settings tha adjusting to off may result in a better sound quality for you. Turning off Surround Sound and Volume Leveling in the Audio menu helps some people find and audio performance they prefer. We have removed the guide functionality on our TV's as most people get that functionality through cable and satellite boxes. If you are having trouble with your back light not being bright enough and you remote please give us a call at 877-878-4946. VIZIO

I have had to factory reset this crappy tv numerous times and I’ve only owned it since August. It’s constantly not working with the apps . It also likes to shut itself off when you click on an app. Good thing I purchased a 5 year warranty. I’m gonna need it !!! But hey. Positive note : the picture clarity is still great after 7 months !

there's something wrong with the picture quality on this model. it's just not clear. the default picture settings are just horrible, and it's hard to correct them because the menu will tint half of the screen while you're making changes. I'm just very disappointed with this model compared to the Sceptre TV i replaced this with

Hello krissrock, thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. VIZIO

I just purchased this and I should have bought the Samsung. I am replacing a 3 year old LG that died. Compared to that one the color on this is awful no matter what setting I use or adjustments I make. The smart tv portion is not the best I’ve used and ther isn’t a lot you can do besides use their apps or cast. I will still need my Roku.

We are continually updating this input with more features (like Amazon Echo compatibility) and applications. In the meantime you can cast the thousands of Chromecast enabled devices from any mobile device. While this is going on because your TV is connected we are able to update your television as time goes on to improve your televisions features and performance. VIZIO

Purchased for a spare bed room, tested out for a few weeks. Slow user interface and poor options for streaming. Requires a separate device to play DTV Now despite the logo being right there on the box. I returned for a TCL Roku TV. Much better. Don’t buy this for the smart features.

For $200 I expected more. The first day, I wanted to watch Netflix, but the remote would not click on my name but the menu and settings button worked, had to turn TV off and back on. Next day, it buffered for about 30 min, I could not exit, back out, anything. Had to turn tv off and on again. Returning!!!!

Our TV often drops words which are being spoken. This happens on many occasions and on all channels. I sent back a Verizon set-top box because I thought it was the problem. It was not. The TV does the same thing with the new box. We do not have it hooked up to a sound bar.

After my 2010 Vizio XVT323SV 1080p the quality is less, the Xfinity Guide is blurry, while the picture is not, only 2 HDMI ports vs. 4, & no bluetooth. As a 32" TV I would only recommend this over the TCL 1080p, which I returned for the Vizio 1080p.
