Apps don’t load all the time even if Wi-Fi connection is 100% working. Tv randomly shuts off in the middle of watching something. Picture and sound is good.

I recently picked up the VIZIO 40" D-Series Full HD Smart TV (2023), and I’m really impressed with the overall performance, especially for the price. Here’s a breakdown of my experience: Picture Quality: For a budget-friendly TV, the picture quality is fantastic. The Full HD resolution provides sharp, crisp images, and the colors are vibrant without being oversaturated. Watching HD content looks great, and even standard definition videos are upscaled surprisingly well. Smart Features: This TV comes with VIZIO’s Smartcast platform, which gives you access to all the popular streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and more. The interface is easy to navigate, and the TV connects to my Wi-Fi quickly. The remote control is responsive, and I like that it includes shortcut buttons for streaming services. Sound Quality: The sound is decent, though not groundbreaking. It’s clear and gets loud enough for a medium-sized room, but I’d recommend pairing it with a soundbar or external speakers if you're looking for a more immersive audio experience. Design & Build: The TV has a sleek, minimalist design that fits well in any living space. The bezels are thin, and the stand is sturdy, keeping the TV securely in place. It’s lightweight and easy to mount on the wall if needed. Connectivity: The TV has all the necessary ports (HDMI, USB, Ethernet) and works seamlessly with my other devices like game consoles, soundbars, and streaming sticks. No complaints in this area. Overall: If you’re looking for a reliable, affordable smart TV that delivers solid performance without breaking the bank, the VIZIO 40" D-Series is a great choice. It offers excellent value with good picture quality, an intuitive smart platform, and decent sound. Highly recommended for those on a budget or anyone looking to upgrade to a smart TV without spending too much.

I'm not giving this 5 stars because it has 5-star quality picture and sound. I'm giving it 5 stars because for the $220 I paid at the time of this writing, it was by far the best value among other 40" TVs I've sampled - from Samsung, Vizio, TCL, etc. Picture quality is very good, and although Vizio had a 2021 model (D40f-J09) also available at Best Buy for $20 cheaper than this 2023 model that I'm reviewing (D40fm-K09), this new for 2023 model has addressed the one big flaw the 2021 model had: sound quality. The 2021 model was a great TV but the crappy sound necessitated the addition of speakers or a sound bar. This 2023 can definitely get by without additional speakers as its built-in speakers produce good full sound with much less distortion compared to the 2021 model at higher volumes. Don't get me wrong, it still lacks bass but you can't really ask too much from small speaker drivers built-into the slim TV cabinet. It has decent smart TV features, casting features, bluetooth (for pairing with headphones), and Apple AirPlay. Picture quality and color accuracy out of the box was decent once you place it in "calibrated" mode and easy to make tweaks as you see fit. It has 2 HDMI ports and one of them has ARC functionality, which works great with sound bars should you decide to use it with one. The plastic stands are pretty flimsy but should provide adequate support since the TV is very light at just around 12 lbs. I've wall-mounted this using its 200x100 VESA screw holes and because it's so light, you don't even need a heavy duty mounting bracket and even an articulating computer monitor arm will work, as long as you get the proper VESA adapter.

Good tv for streaming. My first smart tv; easy to set up. Very lightweight. Will eventually hang it on the wall, but the base feet are perfectly fine. Great picture—full HD with direct backlighting—my old eyes have no trouble seeing this.

I had purchased a Vizeo 32 inch TV for My kitchen. After trying it for several weeks, I decided to replace it with a 40 inch TV. The Two TVs were alike except for the size, both full HD. I was happy with the smaller TV, but I felt like a larger screen would work better for our viewing. Thanks to Total Tech for letting us exchange our purchase after almost 60 days! The price was great for the quality of TV. My main complaint was that the spects in the description never gave the distance between the legs. BestBuy people couldn't find that information, and they didn't have one on display to measure. I saw one on display at another store, so I was able to measure. I wish manufacturers would include that very important info. This is the only TV I could find that would fit on my stand.

For the price I paid I think its an excellect purchase. I will say I love tech, but im not an expert on specs. It sounds great to me, loud with a good bit of base. Admittedly so I fogot that non 4K tvs exist when i purchased it and I can definitely see the difference here. YouTube looks great, some of the other apps leave room to for desire when it comes to the picture quaility. Main reason I couldnt give 5 stars though, is the software. It can be slow at times. I've had it for about 3 weeks and 2/3 times now its been slow to respond or the picture overlaped/jumbled. I may consider exchanging, or I might wait and see if an update improves it. In the world of tech, nothings perfect and stuff happens so ill give it a bit longer and update my review if things dont improve or get worse.

Picture and sound quality are great for the price. Features and apps available are pretty much all or most of what you will ever need. I especially like the fact that you can connect any headphones directly to it just like you do it with any other device (although I haven’t actually tried it yet). Only issue with this TV is responsiveness to remote control's buttons, you click to change a channel and you have to wait a second for it to respond, it does not feel instant like with other TVs. Also, there does not seem to be a way to flip between the free view channels up and down without it opening the TV schedule, which makes going from channel to channel even slower. Finally, this only happened once so far but on one occasion it would refuse to connect to WiFi and no restart or any other sort of debug helped it. I tried for half all sort of options but with no success, it just would not connect. O then left it for an hour and came back to it, it connected as usual, so not sure where the issue was. Other devices were successfully to WiFi at the time this TV was refusing to connect.

A good replacement TV for an old set used in a guest bedroom. The size is good for a small room and the picture quality is very good. Being able to use headphones is a plus. The negatives are setting up the TV with a cable box, not very intuitive, the Vizio software changes the name of the cable box so instead of seeing HDMI you see a nondescript option, searching online found the answer to that. Until I was able to connect to the cable box the onboard software was pushing you to use free and paid programming. The female voice is very annoying when navigating through the menus until you find where to turn that option off. The remote device is tiny and hard to hold and control, a larger device with more options would be better. Overall happy with the quality especially for the price.

We're very pleased with this TV. Set up was easy, picture is sharp, with life-like colors and (I'm hearing impaired) audio settings include separate treble and bass levels - and other things - which helps me out a lot. Very affordable. No buyers remorse here, I'd definitely buy from Best Buy again thanks to their super knowledgeable and friendly sales folks and competitive prices.

The TV was a definite upgrade from what I was using. The picture quality is far superior. Since we were using a ROKU stick before it took me a bit to learn to use the streaming guide built into the TV as opposed to the ROKU menu. The only real issue I have it the volume button on the remote sometimes sticks after being pressed. Other then that the TV has been a big improvement.
