The TV developed a ring around the edges after only 3-4 months of use. It frequently does not respond to the remote or to the buttons on the back of it. I have to plug/unplug often just to get it to work.

I deeply regret having made this choice. I don't think it might be all Vizio products, but this model is terrible in everyway, sound, image display, system getting frozen and slow start, no navigation system built in. Tried to change it directly with Vizio customer service and they would only give me the same TV option model substitution.

Overall, the 40" gives a great viewing space for mid-range distance between 3'-15' away from the tv. It does not do best when deep deep blacks of The Dark Knight come on the screen but it does well for most other things, it is also a nice gaming TV. I would say it's not the best for mirroring computers because the warmth and contrast settings are too tricky to allow for true-to-life colors like skin tones on photos and home videos. Again, it's a TV so it does the job well. The built in vizio smart hub software makes managing streaming platforms very simple and easy to access without purchasing any additional products.

Fantastic display with a decent assortment of options.
I mainly used it to play videogames, and it almost never disappointed. (Speakers and low screen brightness aside)
Constant updates made sure nothing was broke or broken for long, plus the stream of new features was fantastic.
I honestly miss this model compared to the new younger siblings. (120hz as an option over 60hz with a VRR function that rarely gets used is a major buying point.)

So I bought this TV about a month ago and so far it has been great. We were replacing our old bulky tv in the living and this one was just the perfect size. Aesthetically, it has a great picture and presentation. Probably could use a sound bar, but the volume isn’t too much of a concern. My only qualm is that they don’t have SHOWTIME ANYTIME Or HBO MAX as some of the streaming apps to download on their Smartcast. Instead you must stream it from your phone to the tv, which even though it’s not hard to do, it seems like a simple fix to just make it possible to have those apps on the tv already. Also for whatever reason when using Amazon Prime Video, the sync always is like a second between what’s actually being said. I’m sure there is a way to address that but not the biggest issue in the world. Overall I’d still suggest anyone getting this TV is getting a great buy. Vizio doesn’t miss with their products and they didn’t miss with this one either.

An excellent value with a great set of features. I especially appreciate the built-in AppleTV and AirPlay support.
The one negative is that the off-center viewing is not good. Even from a 60 degree angle, the flesh tones are off. Direct on, the picture is fantastic.

Really nice TV. Easy to set up and use. Lots of features, apps and free channels. If you get an actual 4k broadcast it looks amazing. Local channels on cable generally look awful in spite of having a 4k box. Live news is the worst of all but it's the news and I don't recommend watching it anyway.
The real reason for knocking a star off is because of the sound. It's absolutely terrible. Pocket radios from my childhood sounded better. Ridiculous that they can make tiny sound bars sound incredible but won't put it in their TVs. Just another way of getting money from the consumer.

Paid 200 and some change for this in 2021, and so far so good. I bought this over other options because it has inputs for my PS2, plus the built-in chromecast meant I could give my external chromecast to a friend that didn't have the disposable income to get one. I wish there was a spotify app and that the google ambient mode (or something comparable that could be programmed to show AQI/pollen count on a scheduled basis) was available, but other than that.... nice. I have an external soundbar that I bought because the built-in speakers were too quiet, but that could just be an issue of the background noise from air filters. If my immune system worked better, the lack of spotify app might be my only real complaint. :0

The display does not offer a pleasant side viewing option. It appears blurry and washed out. The setup process is tedious and does not allow the user to “opt-out” from any of Googles privacy EULA agreements. Although it stated an option to “opt-out” after completion, this is a falsehood. If you try to change your privacy choices the television forces you to reset everything and start over.
I’d recommend attaching a sound bar to enhance your listening experience. The two tiny speakers embedded into the television itself barely produce enough volume to watch normal programs. The price paid for this 40 inch screen was reasonable.
The internet ready option allows the user to cut the cable cord and connect using WiFi exclusively without Ethernet cables.

I have a 43 inch Vizio of the same year Mode and its just as nice except the side view is terrible. Even if its just a bit it get washed out like which is odd considering my 43 has the same issue but no where near as bad. Also they still have not produced a UPDATE on the limited picture settings. Can only use Picture Mode, Backlight, and Brightness, the Contrast, Color Tint and Sharpness are faded out and are not usable. Same on my 43 inch but Vizio said they were aware of this and will be doing a firmware update !! WAITING. You can use the Vizio Smartcast downloaded from thr google app store to do these functions which i do but is a pain in the butt. Color is very good and so is using the apps like netflix, amazon etc. Connection is also good. This tv is good for the price and quality .

I wanted a Smart 4K TV for my office living room to replace an older 720p Sony Bravia and this Vizio did not disappoint! Picture quality is pretty good for the price and I prefer VIZO smart TV user interface over an Amazon Fire TV (Amazon bombs with you too much of their stuff and content). That's why I didn't care for INSIGNIA TVs Best Buy had for cheaper. Of course, if I could have it I would prefer Google TV like my parent's Sony but hey I don't want to spend an extra $400 more for that even if you are getting better color reproduction and picture quality. This Vizio gets 4K content done in a reasonable manner but it took a few system setting configurations to get the TV to run faster (it has a power saving mode that makes the processer runs slower) and get its volume to be louder (need to turn on surround sound), and get the right amount of picture color and brightness for myself. Best part of it is that it's made in Taiwan (the next best place to be made in other than Japan).
