Great little TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV may be small and inexpensive, but I am happier with this purchase than any of the other TVs I’ve purchased in the last several years (bought six over the last 3 years). I bought this to replace a higher end 50” 4K Samsung because I wanted a smaller TV in our bedroom, and I thought it would be a big downgrade, but this is a GREAT little TV.

Good affordable, versatile option for small space
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is a great option for a small space, as it can be used as both a TV and a computer monitor. Really great value for money, which is why it gets 5 stars. Obviously, at this price, this is not a super high res/high end TV, but a really decent and affordable option for most purposes. It is WiFi enabled, easy to set up yourself...basically “plug and play”, and just light enough, despite its size, that it can be moved by one person. I use mine on a basic wall mount as a second monitor for my laptop, a video screen for exercising, and occasionally move it as a second TV for guests or an outdoor TV on hot nights, etc. Works great with a mesh WiFi system. Have had it a year now with no problems. Notes: remember to change modes/resolution in settings when flipping between uses. When using as a laptop monitor, the resolution/clarity may be limited by your laptop settings. Get a good quality HDMI cable to connect it to desktop or laptop, and you won’t have any issues.

Good value, audio syncing problem, limited apps
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the cheapest 40" 4K HDR TV I found that includes Dolby Vision. The feature set is incredible, given that it includes both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, which are the two dynamic HDR formats. It's rare that a TV would support both, at any price. I was looking at 40-inch models only because this was going into a bedroom, not the living room. The big caveat is that this TV isn't capable of doing much with those formats because it's not anywhere near bright enough to make HDR source material pop. To experience HDR video properly requires a TV that can display huge brightness ranges within the same image or sequence. Cheap TVs aren't good enough for HDR even if they technically support the formats. "Cheap" here means roughly under $500, maybe $600. At that price point, you start to get TVs good enough to deliver meaningful HDR. The problem is that there are no TVs of that quality in the 40-inch size class. Good TVs are generally only manufactured in 55-inch and larger sizes, with some outliers in the 49 or 43-inch classes. So my decision to buy it was more a "might as well" decision to get a TV that supported these formats over one that didn't if they were the same price or if it was only a $10-20 difference. Also, this 40-inch Vizio was replacing a 32-inch Samsung 720p TV that had glitchy and super-slow Smart TV software (Samsung's Tizen OS), so 4K and at least theoretical HDR were a big upgrade, along with a much snappier Smart TV platform (Vizio's SmartCast OS). So far it's a decent improvement in image detail over the Samsung, and it's nice to see 4K HDR source material now on Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, etc. Before were presumably getting a 1080p stream, which the TV downscaled to 720p. I can't tell yet if broadcast HDTV looks better. I have an antenna and get lots of channels. Some broadcast networks are 720p, while others are 1080i, and I wonder if the 1080i signals will look better on a 4K TV than on a 720p TV. The one problem so far is that audio is out of sync with video on Amazon Prime. I've tested it with different kinds of content and it doesn't seem to matter. Both legacy HD TV shows like Unforgettable and new Amazon 4K HDR shows like Bosch have the audio syncing problem. I'm still researching and troubleshooting it. I've tried changing a couple of audio settings. I changed "TV Speakers" from Auto to On, and I changed "Digital Audio Out" from Auto to PCM. The latter step I got from Vizio's Support website. Neither has worked. I might try changing "Digital Audio Out" to Digital (the three options are Auto, PCM, and Digital). The problem only seems to happen in the Amazon Prime app. Netflix seems okay, though there might be a very subtle syncing problem there too – I need to test it more to make sure. App selection is probably a net loss compared to the Samsung. We lost both the Sling TV and HBO Max apps. We gained Peacock. Not having Sling is a big hit since we subscribe to it (our main TV in the living room is a TCL Roku TV, so now we can only watch Sling in the living room). We also subscribe to HBO Max, so losing that app is a bummer. However, we get it through Hulu, and we can watch it in the Hulu app. The problem is that the Hulu app is one of the worst streaming apps, and the HBO interface within Hulu is awful – unbelievably, there is no search function within the HBO interface. I probably wouldn't have bought the TV if I had known that there was no Sling app on Vizio. I didn't think to check exactly which apps are available. I'd probably rather have Sling support than Dolby Vision, since the TV isn't good or bright enough to leverage Dolby Vision in a noticeable way.

Vizio is the best on the market!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My favorite TV. The Vizio brand is easy, reliable, and just an overall great product. I have now had a 48 inch, 50 inch, 43 inch, and 40 inch. The smart cast is an easy set up, plus makes it a smooth process to stream. Plugging in a gaming console with the 4K makes it the best overall experience. The 48 inch I have had since 2015, and all the other ones have been this year. And I have never bought a different brand ! Vizio is the way.

Excellent TV for PS4 Slim gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best TV I've owned. The picture and color is perfect. I've had 65". 55", 50", and 43" 4k TVs that were nice but this 40 Inch Vizio tops them all. I play PS4 Slim on it and it's like the games all look new and crisp. The sound is nice (low bass like all TVs are these days), but has a surround sound effect coupled with my Sound bar when I place it off to the side a bit. The Dolby Vision combined with the HDR/4K on a 40" panel makes this TV stand out. You can stream with Amazon Prime, Disney, and all the favorite networks if you need to but I just do that on my PS4 slim. Get this: Settings gives you option for HDMI 2.1 which is pretty cool for next gen gaming. I am now saving for a PS5 to use on this cool TV. If you want to get an awesome TV that looks just as good or better than many of the higher priced names brands out there, this is the one.

Great Entry Level 4k TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Brother got a series S and ps5 and was playing on a 720p TV. Hooked this bad boy up and it's like night and day. You seriously can't beat the price for how excellent the picture looks. Sure more expensive models will look better but this is the best bang for your buck if you're looking for an entry-level 4k tv.

Great price of entry to 4K
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4K but limited to 60hz. For the entry price this is a fantastic set. If you’re just looking for something that can run 4K content and you don’t need high end features (120hz), you’ll be plenty happy.

Would buy again.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup. I have only had this TV about a month and so far it shows a good quality picture. Sound is adequate, l added a sound bar which enhanced it. There are enough hdmi connections to attach other devices plus its wireless. This is a smart TV so it has streaming apps. However I did connect my fire stick.

Great value for solid product! No HBO hurts
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros- Light, easy to use/set up, and the perfect size for what I needed. Sound is solid, and the picture is legit. Cons- Angle viewing is a no go. Doesn't support HBO as an app (have to cast it from another device)

Great for the Price Does not support 120fps at 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV for the Price. Got this for my Xbox Series X due to the HDMI 2.1 technology . Unfortunately this TV does not support 120hz in 4K mode. It can do 120 fps at 1080p or 60fps at 4kUHD. Other than that its great little tv for the office/game room that I'm currently setting up along side my gaming PC.

Best of the two 40” class TVs that fit in my space
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would prefer to be able to go to inputs by the name of the input, ie antenna, rather than the call sign of the TV station that I last watched. “HDMI 1” rather than “direct tv genie”. The sound on this TV is certainly nothing special. The picture is fine. When you go to input on the remote and start pushing arrows to choose an input, you better hurry because it will time out and disappear. Otherwise remote is acceptable. This TV is compact for its picture size and fits in a restrictive installation space that I am stuck with. The young man that approached me to assist with my purchase was helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice TV at a good price. Very good picture, decent sound, and very easy to set up and use. We only stream programming - no cable any more. Easily as good as Samsung TVs we’ve had.
