Bought this for my grandmother and set everything up for her to cast and watch shows. the whole casting system is way more complicated than it needs to be. Buy a smart TV and move on with your life.

I love the style and set up of this TV. However, the picture randomly goes in and out - usually at the worst times! It's tough to watch sports (or anything else) when you have no clue when the image will disappear for a few seconds! We're currently in the process of dealing with both Best Buy and Vizio to see how they will handle. It's been under 2 months and the problem started almost immediately. We've done hard resets multiple times to no avail.

We purchased an open box tv (discounted bc of open box policy, but not used). 4 days after the extremely short return policy expired (like 14 days) this TV started flickering. We have reset the tv, unplugged it.. blah, blah, blah. Still flickers and Best Buy won't even exchange their products. I wasn't looking for my money back, but a good working tv would be nice. Hopefully Vizio can help out. Would not recommend this TV.

The VIZIO SmartCast Display does come with a traditional IR remote for basic volume, power, and input selection. To connect it to the internet, and access advanced settings the Display does require that you download the SmartCast app on a compatible Android or iOS device. The experience of using the app to control the Display is quite different from using a basic remote with an older TV, but we are constantly updating the app to make sure you can use the latest features, and we can continue to improve the interface and button layout.

Returned this item as we could not get a good picture out of it. Be aware that all the adjustment functions have to be accessed with an app on a smart phone. The picture and audio went out of sync and needed to be adjusted via the app as well. To much hassle we returned it after a few days.

This HDTV's picture is far from high-def. Fuzzy, dull image. Requires phone app for most smart functions but the app won't work on one of the family phones. An overall disappointment despite positive reviews from Best Buy users and CNet. I'm returning this TV after one day.

Thanks for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you saw in the store. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark.
