Great sound but 4k passthrough not working and ARC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've spent about seven to eight hours yesterday trying to get the soundbar to work and the Ark in the 4K input and it will not recognize a 4K device like an Xbox One X. I'm reading this is a problem for a few other people and supposedly there's a firmware update coming. When will the firmware update be available I've been trying to download it all morning but my bar can't connect to the internet supposedly. I'm also having the same issue with turning on the TV and no sound until I unplug it and replug it in again. I had a previous Vizio soundbar before this without Dolby Atmos which works fine and I'm really upset right now that I switched for my LG OLED TV. Vizio support please help.

this is currently in the dumpster (100% serious)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this in July and within a month the issues started. -random shutdowns and very common (just do a quick search online) and will need to sent in for warranty repair. imagine the fun of finding a box. -if you would like to split video & audio from a Blu-ray player, just forget it and save yourself the time. Vizio support will just keep saying 'factory reset'. the short version is that it won't work -DO NOT use video passthrough. it will look TERRIBLE. I dont mean washed out, I mean boiled in bleach washed out. this is not a cable issue, a nice coworker actually has the testing hardware and checked 4 cables for me. - I finally got fed up and replaced it. I really should've sold it to recoup something but I would honestly feel like a dirtbag giving this to someone

Awful Firmware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My unit has been experiencing the issue of becoming unresponsive until reinstalling the firmware. This is reportedly a common issue and happens seemingly random on startup. It's a hassle to deal with when it occurs and Vizio has likely ended support for this model so we are stuck with it.

Stopped working in less than 3 years.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought in 2020 and stopped working mid 2023. It would come on, connect to the tv but will produce no sound. I tried different cables, inputs and tvs with no luck. Total waste of $360

Good but huge lip sync issue with Xbox a
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a b8 oled , if I use my arc channel from my tv I have lip sync issues with my Xbox. If I use the hdmi in on the sound bar the picture goes in and out. Contacted Vizio and they just checked to see if I had latest firmware. Hopefully this can be resolved or I will be returning soon.

Issues Need to be Address
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will adjust be review if the following issues are fixed, some of the issues are deal breakers with this new product. The Sound, when working, is good. 1- Main issue, when turning on tv the soundbar should turn on itself, correct? I get no sound at all and have to manually unplug the HDMI from the soundbar and plug back in to get sound. I have an LG C8CPUA OLED 65 and HDMI ARC connection with CEC enabled... this is huge issue 2- Unable to power off the soundbar using google assist, it said power control not supported, hopefully gets fixed with update. 3 - Have to sometime reload the atmos content for it to play in atmos, this is another huge issue. I do not see any WiFi issues with streaming and several others on forums are facing issues with keeping Atmos on through the whole stream 4 - The Sub makes a funny noise when some content stops playing

Excellent System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall Great Sound Sytem with sub woofer, It works well when you directly connected with Roku and from Sound bar to TV. I wish sound base would be more crispy & bluetooth connection more stable.

Good (borderline Fair) when it works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this last year on Black Friday. I can honestly say there was not one day for it without some sort of issue. Majority of those issues are related to the bar restarting in the middle of us watching TV. In the beginning, it was annoying but, I thought, with time and updates, I could learn to live with it (30-60 seconds, not a big deal). Unfortunately, over time I noticed more and more issues - the bar wouldn't wake up, turn off and not turn back on without a hard restart etc. I decided to exchange it. The second bar did not do video passthrough, period! Just did not work. So I had to return that one and kept the old one. I did a lot of research on it - it seems like this particular model has A LOT of issues and A LOT of people complaining about it (no wonder it is on sale all the time). On a separate note - rear speakers are meh. May be it was the speakers themselves but it could also be my calibration abilities (I tried though). Updating software on this thing is a nightmare (Vizio app for this thing is an afterthought. You have to spend time just to even connect it to the internet. But even after the full, completed setup, it doesn't work they way you think it should. It "sort of" works) Bottom line - if you are lucky and get a good unit, it will be a cheap 5.1.2 setup (with Atmos) and you will enjoy it with certain limitations. If not, it will be a hassle.

Posted .Hello Naps, Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the sound bar restarting. Have you tried connecting the sound bar with a different cable? While it's possible that there's a problem with the sound bar, cords/cables and audio setting from the device that the sound bar connected into can also cause the audio drop out. If you'd like any assistance, you can reach out to our customer service team at 1-855-833-3221.

Had Potential
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a long time Vizio customer and had high hopes for this sound bar option but was let down. It sounds great when it is working properly but it is plagued with handshake issues and heavy static and popping sounds coming from the rear speakers. More disappointed was the response by customer service which after multiple firmware installs and trouble shooting was for a return as they are not carrying replacements for warranty (makes me wonder if its going to be discontinued).

Great sound but the tech not there yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love my 2017 Vizio 5.1, so quickly got on board with this. The set-up was easy, and the sound was great. But there seemed to be some trouble with this talking to my Sony TV through ARC. Whenever I’d play Atmos, DTS-MA or True HD, it’d trigger a message on the TV every 5 seconds saying “invalid audio format”... even though that shouldn’t be an issue—the audio was coming in through hdmi 1 and playing fine through the sound bar. It wasn’t supposed to be sending audio through the TV. I downloaded the firmware and updated, and it did NOT work. So this will have to go back.

Posted .Hello ChiMMS, Thanks for taking the time to review our product. It seems like the TV might be having a hand-shake issue between your source device, sound bar and TV. There are a few possible remedies. When using ARC & Atmos you’ll want to ensure you’re using a high speed HDMI 2.0 cable. You should also confirm that your TV is running the latest firmware, please consult your TV manufacture’s user manual for the firmware update procedure. Also, depending on your model of television, you may also be able to adjust your TV’s audio settings. If you have a moment to contact our support team, we’d really appreciate the opportunity to help you troubleshoot this issue. We’ve got phone agents available at 855-833-3221, as well as chat & email representatives you can contact by visiting support.VIZIO.com.

Disappointed, any help?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.my previous vizio sound bars sub stopped working in just under 2 years but having a vizio TV I wanted to stay with a vizio sound bar, I purchased this one excited to try it out and it was working great, until I started using the TV's built in chrome cast and then the sound became choppy every time I casted to the TV, using the apps directly on the TV the sound is fine but every time I cast its choppy. Any thing that can be done about this or am I going to have to return and try something else?

Stay away from this speaker system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is worthless. Oh, when it works... it is fantastic. When it doesn't which is 90% of the time it is worthless. Well it collects dust very well. Want to connect it to your blue tooth? nope the system will skip. Want to keep your subwoofer on all of time? Nope the thing is mercurial. You will have to reset it almost every time you use it. It will do google cast... sometimes. Other times it will play nothing. It is the most infurating thing I have purchased in the last year and a half. Oh, and this doesn't include the remote. The remote sucks. You can barely see the info display on their 1990 LCD screen. Why? Because they want you to download the app. Why? Because instead of connecting via wi-fi or via bluetooth or NFC they want to make sure they know your location, they can access your data, and a host of other things. And if you try to read their fine print.... bring a lawyer with you. It will help. Their system is set up to access your data while providing you something that will infuriate you 90% of the time. Avoid like the plague. Avoid like the in laws you don't like. Avoid like that professor that gave you a D because they just didn't like you. Find something else to spend your hard earned money on. And not this.

Save your money and time!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design and quality of the product is good, but the one star rating is because it often shuts down on its own while watching TV, casting, or using the Bluetooth. My TV is a Vizio P659-G1, which has its own trouble with casting, but while watching TV through the sound bar, the bar often turns off randomly. Vizio pricing might be fair, but I don’t think it’s worth interrupting your shows/movies/music multiple times (to pause the show, reset the sound bar, re-sync, until the sound is working again). I recommend to spend your money on other products with less or no trouble shooting.

trash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trash. Set up was easy, speakers sounded crackly and popping sounds with music playing. Don't know if I got a dud or if people deal with this but it turned me off the Vizio products for sound. You get what you pay for, that's why this is the only 5.1 sound for $200. Returned and going to get trusted JBL soundbar

Updates may stop it working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For some reason when it tries to update itself, it gets stuck. (Lots of online reviews mention the 7 lights, 1 blinking loop). Downloaded the update off vizio's site, did a manual usb update, got it working again. Now, weeks later, same problem, even though the version hasn't even been updated. Avoid frustration, pick another brand.
