Amazing surround sound. This is the second vizier sound baar system I have purchased. Great product, set up is easy, connects seamlessly with vizio app and Google home system. has an array of setting to get the sound exactly how you'd like it.

UPDATE LOOP ISSUE and Temporary Fix -

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First and foremost, DO NOT download the SmartCast app or try to connect this soundbar to WiFi until Vizio fixes whatever is wrong with their software/firmware. I've had this unit for less than a week so far, and twice now it got itself stuck in an updating loop where the LED lights on the left commonly show 7 solid and 1 blinking before all 10 light solid and then begin again at 1 blinking light, repeating this process endlessly (I "fixed" it - more on that below). The unit is totally unresponsive during this, and my initial interaction with tech support was to do all of these common steps that did absolutely nothing (that I'd already tried before calling) and then basically "we don't know so we're going to send you a replacement." I took matters into my own hands after that call and did some further internet research, stumbling across a Reddit thread with others having the exact same issue, even with their replacement units from Vizio. That's where it was determined it was an update loop problem. Now onto the steps I did to "fix" it - 1. Download the latest firmware onto a clean thumb drive (nothing else on the drive) that is FAT formatted. You must download, unzip/extract the file folder, and then drag the two separate files within the folder onto your clean thumb drive. https://support.vizio.com/s/article/Firmware-Information-3118?language=en_US 2. Unplug the unit from power, and insert the thumb drive into the unit's USB slot. Plug the unit back in. It will go back to where it was in the update loop. 3. Wait until all 10 LED lights are lit and hold down Power, Volume Up, and Volume Down on top of the unit at the same time - keep holding until you see the LEDs all flashing, even if it takes a minute (you're trying to catch the unit before it self-reboots the update cycle) and then let go only after the flashing lights happen. Done successfully, this will finally factory reset the unit. If you miss it, you must wait until this point happens again. 4. The bar should then turn back on and begin loading the update from the thumb drive. This will look mostly the same as the loop issue lights but it'll take about ~15 minutes or so and then the lights will flash to signify it is complete. 5. Hold down the Bluetooth and Volume Down buttons for a few seconds until the unit shuts off (I think the Power button was still unresponsive at this point and the unit didn't auto-reboot after the update). Let go and then remove your thumb drive. Can't remember if the unit powers itself back on or if you must press Power again at this moment. Either way, it should be working again once power is back on. I gave this bar 2 stars because as I said, I've had to do this twice now in less than a week and it's very frustrating to spend that much $$ to have annoying issues like this. I chose to delete the SmartCast app and all its data and not attempt to connect to WiFi this time around - I really hope that will fix the problem of the unit trying to auto-check for an update or whatever it does to get stuck like this, but I'll know in about 2-3 days (how often it seems to happen) and if it happens again I will be returning it and getting something else that isn't a Vizio product. I had called to share this info with a Vizio tech agent and they seemed grateful for the info, but cancelled my warranty replacement setup because at that time it was working again, so I assume that means if I were to keep this unit and have to submit another ticket that the tech will try to make me do all of those redundant steps again first for over an hour on the phone. All that said, when the unit IS working, it does sound pretty good (better than my previous soundbar) and I can see the green light when Atmos content is supposedlybeing decoded on Vudu or my Xbox One connected to the HDMI pass-thru (and HDMI ARC port on my LG TV). Although, I haven't heard much in the way of something sounding like it is "coming from above" with the upward-firing speakers. I have been adjusting the angle of the bar, and yes the Height speakers are set to On and I have a flat ceiling. I don't know if you can update a review on here once posted, but if I find out any further info after a few days (such as not connecting to the app or WiFi actually preventing the issue from recurring like I hope) then I'll try to add it to the book-length post above.

Decent sound at a great price. Can never have a TV without a sound bar again. I expect more from this vizio. I considered returning and getting the non-atmos version as I have upstairs as that one is a bit more user friendly with the remote/setup. Was always concerned about vizio quality, but both sound bars saved me a lot of money for a good sound.

I really wanted to like this set up from Vizio. I got this product at a very great price from best buy and for it to be Dolby Atmos I think it was a steal. For 499.00 it is not worth it. Set up was easy. You wont have issues and it is very easy to control. The sound is amazing when it works. What I have an issue with is the wireless sub cutting out more often than not. I have tried different connections not just ARC, digital connection and different wires. The Sub cuts out at high volumes and it is annoying. Sub was exactly 6 feet away from the soundbar. The excuse is always, "Well you may have some wireless interference." Not a good answer. I moved my wireless router and it still had the same issue. I ended up moving the Subwoofer to my front but guess what, that takes with it the wired satellite speaker which defeats the purpose of the 5.1 surround. And even at less than 1 foot away from the soundbar the sub still cuts out from time to time as if it were trying to pair. Not happy. This is my second Vizio System going right back to Best Buy.

Overall I'd say I really like this soundbar system. The sound quality itself it truly terrific...one of the very best for the price! The only thing that bugs me about it is using the app to control it. The app is more user friendly than the remote control, however, sometimes it takes FOREVER for the app to recognize the soundbar. That's the only reason I won't give it 5 starts...but I still recommend it.

I initially connected all of my HDMI devices to the TV (Sony OLED -A8H) and the SB36512 for audio only on HDMI-ARC. I occasionally experienced the no sound issue and would have to cycle through the inputs on the sound bar to get the sound back. I decided to move things around and put my Roku Ultra on the HDMI-IN on the sound bar. Now when I turn on the Roku or select it from the inputs on the TV, the SB36512 automatically switches from HDMI-ARC to HDMI-IN. Likewise, when switching to another HDMI input on the TV, such as my Xbox, the sound bar switches back to HDMI-ARC, so cool! It's been in this configuration for a few days and working great. The sound has always been awesome, and now having the sound bar switching inputs automatically makes this a 5-star winner!

Product is good. Set it up and worked perfect. The next day only sound bar worked and had to troubleshoot issues with other speakers. Working today (2nd day). Hope there are no further issues. When working sound is great! Able to manage background music to balance with volume odmf speaking. Hope this continues to work. If so, I would give 5 star review.

Great sounding soundbar system for the price. I still don't understand why the HDMI cable that came with the system was unable to pass Dolby Atmos to the soundbar. I had to buy a better HDMI cord to get that to work. Other than that inconvenience it's been a great addition to my theater/video game setup.

Easy setup. Loud sound in my small/medium living room of my 2 bedroom apartment. I can hear it on the 1st floor as I’m walking up the stairs to the 3rd floor at only about 75% volume lol ( iPhone at about 80% sound bar system at about 65% ). A small issue with lip syncing when playing from the tv but my tv has an option to sync sound bar so at lip sync 3 it works perfectly.

Works well for the room I have it in. Little over power but you can adjust that in the app. Had a problem with it not wanting to respond when using ARC but it seemed to be fixed with an update and new HDMI so not really sure what the issue was. Glad I got and an have had a couple of friend purchase this after I did nd we all are happy.

    Sounds Great, But Randomly Disconnects

This soundbar sounds great, especially with the surround speakers. It also has an ARC HDMI input, which I look very much forward to using once I get a compatible component for it. It was easy to set up, especially with the speaker stands (sold separately). I really love the surround sound quality. It's especially spooky when watching horror movies and it sounds like there's someone literally right behind you. I do have one issue with this system, and it's a pretty annoying one. It randomly disconnects and turns off. There is an eco mode setting that makes everything turn off after about four hours, but I turned off that setting and it now does it at random times. It could be 20 minutes into a movie, two hours into a movie, six hours into a binge-watching marathon - we never know when it's going to happen. It also happens across different connections whether it's the TV itself running on its Smart features, a PS4, or a Switch - any device at any time. I contacted Vizio and they are going to send a replacement because it's still under warranty. I'm hoping that fixes it.

What can I say? Vizio knocks it out of the park with this soundbar system! Gets pretty loud, subwoofer is effective, dolby atmos at an insane price point. Oh and lets not forget google chromecast support! I love this unit so much that I actually bought two of them! I also have the Nakamichi Shockwafe pro bundle and I would say you really can't go wrong with either. I will say when it comes to build quality and audio control adjustments the Nakamichi wins hands down. I honestly believe the Vizio and Nakamichi go head to head and both come out as the clear winners in this dolby atmos soundbar space. Go with whichever you like more aesthetically or whichever is on a better sale in my honest opinion. Unless you really need the chromecast of the Vizio or the extra speakers of the Nakamichi you will not be dissapointed with either!

I have owned this sound bar for 8 months now. It was very easy to use and set up. When it works, the sound is great and for the price is hard to beat. I started experiencing issues with it about 3 months ago hoping it was a fluke. The sound bar will randomly turn off when in use with no prompt, usually turning it back on resolves the issue but not always. Now when it turns itself off it doesn’t respond to power input from the remote, requiring it to be unplugged and plugged back in. It will only then randomly come back to life, even then it still won’t always work. Overall it has been a very frustrating experience, one that I hope Visio will rectify.
