I just bought the system and from the time that I installed it, I saw a big difference. It changes the way I hear music in the living room and watch TV show. The bass it definitely deep and the front face speaker really make you feel like you in theaters and are getting hit from every direction. The connection process it really easy and doesn't need professional installation. The Google cast it an amazing add on as I already have the whole house fill with Google speaker. It a great system. A little pricey but it worth it. You definitely feel the difference.

So close to great. The audio is fantastic, the subwoofer is boomy but not distorting, and the surround sound experience is wonderful, all for (bought at $300) an unbelievable price. As of this review however, they seem to have went up to $449, and their successor (which featured DTS:X, this model doesn't) seems to no longer be sold.
My biggest problem, and in general for VIZIO soundbars, is the app. It's awful; disconnects constantly, struggles to connect to your own Wi-Fi network, and is a requirement for some settings such as channel balance and subwoofer volume. Annoying as heck but I guess it's a good thing it's pretty good out of the box. Fixing the app would make this an incredible setup, especially when it's back down to $300.

This soundbar is perfect for a smaller space.
It's got a great clear sound and the bass is powerful for how compact it is.
The dolby atmos feature works great with an Xbox One X/S and the PS4.
Running the TIDAL music with HiFi music through this soundbar sounds phenomenal. Listening to music on this sound bar is perfect.
TV shows are great with this device, I love the settings and options you get to adjust with this soundbar.
Truly a great product if you want to have a great product but dont want to break the bank.

This was a replacement for an older Vizio soundbar system which worked fantastically. Setup was easy, sound quality is quite good.
The app is laggy on my phone (which, in fairness, is a few years old) and could be more streamlined/intuitive. The subwoofer/rear speakers will occasionally drop out (firmware is current), but automatically reconnect within a second or two. An annoyance for something at this price point, especially since the older system never had this issue. Not frequent enough to warrant returning it, but disappointing nonetheless. The LCD on the remote needs a backlight for nighttime use...badly.
Ordered online, picked up at my local store the same day without issue.

Full disclosure: I am not a home theater buff by any means, but I do thoroughly research products before I commit. This is my first venture into sound bars / home theater systems, and I have only owned this one for a month. To summarize my feelings on this product: Absolutely worth it for the price.
This VIZIO sound system has so much going for it. It's sleek, has a small profile and will not take up much space, the rear speakers are light weight and can easily be mounted almost anywhere, and the sound is a 1,000% improvement over any TV speaker. Now I will admit, It's not a perfect sound experience, even to the average listener like me, but that type of sound is not necessary in my opinion. Yet at under $400 w/ tax, this provides a full surround sound experience in an attractive package that is easy to use, and it is capable of all the latest sound advancements (e.g. Dolby Atmos). I think you'll be hard pressed to find another product with more value packed in.
A few things to note: Rear speaker cables are RCA cables that are 26.5' long. My set up required an additional 6' in order to run the cables behind the walls, but I was able to buy an RCA adapter and additional cable in order to extend them. Second, the rear speaker wall mounts are fixed, meaning you cannot rotate the speakers. It's important to rotate the rear speakers so that they are facing your seating position so you can hear the surround sound. This was easily remedied by purchasing universal rotating wall mounts online for under $10.
So to sum up one final time for those still on the fence: if you're new to home theater systems or you're looking for something inexpensive but value packed, this VIZIO system is 100% worth the dive. I am so glad I selected this system over other more expensive systems.

Despite a few quirks, this soundbar is an amazing addition to any TV and its big soundstage belies its relatively small size. The rear speakers, about the size of a can of pop and mostly for ambient sound, and the two upward firing Atmos speakers help provide a deeply immersive listening environment.
As much as I enjoyed this soundbar system however, I was prepared to return it. The sound kept shutting off in the middle of movies or while binging The Expanse. Google searches indicated turning Eco Power Mode to Off using the supplied remote would fix that. It didn't. Additional searches noted that the Energy Star was also enabled by default and turning it off would prevent sudden shut-offs. I followed the manual's instructions (copied below) and that hasn't happened since. If it does, I will update this review.
Bottom line is that this soundbar system makes a huge difference in watching movies, sports, or streaming media. Easily worth the money at retail but a complete no-brainer if you find it on sale.
"When the Energy Star setting is enabled, the sound bar will automatically power down after a period of inactivity. When disabled, the sound bar will remain powered on until you turn it off. To enable/disable this function, Press and Hold the Power ( ) and Volume Down (—) buttons for 5 seconds. Note: Energy Star setting is enabled by default."

So, I was going to give this system 3 stars... that is, until I experienced something else...
I bought this system to replace my Polk Signa S2 that I had. I decided it was time to upgrade from 2.1.
I got it home, set it up, very simple. I had it up and running in less than 30 minutes. I turned it on and I have to admit...I was IMPRESSED. For $300, this system DELIVERS! Bass, excellent quality sound, and an EXCELLENT surround sound stage. I played Ghost of Tsushima on my PS5 and this system seriously brought the game to life completely immersing me in sound!
However, within less than a week of owning it, I had issues... I’d adjust the volume on the bar, nothing would happen, sound wouldn’t change. The SmartCast app is trash. Disconnects all the time. There’s also severe delay in switching inputs. I switched from my PS5 to Netflix on my TV and had no sound at all for a good 5 minutes. I thought something happened so I did all the troubleshooting necessary. Finally I switched back to my PS5 and back again to Netflix and a minute later out of nowhere I got sound. That was extremely frustrating to me and last straw that caused me to return this awesome sounding system.
NOW, here’s the shocker, upon returning this system, I picked up the Samsung Q850T for $950!!
Got that system home, set it up, and I was IMMEDIATELY disappointed... the sound was SO flat in comparison to the $300 Vizio I just returned! I have had to crank EVERY possible speaker up to 6 to actually get dynamic sound from this $950 Q850T system! This is ridiculous! And it STILL doesn’t produce the surround stage of the $300 Vizio!! The rear speakers are garbage in comparison! The SMALLER rear speakers of Vizio performed twice as good!
After hearing this Q850T system, I honestly have a TON of respect for what Vizio achieved with their $300 Atmos system.
I’ll be returning the Q850T and either getting the Vizio Elevate system considering it’s only $50 more, or I’ll just get the $300 Vizio Atmos system again and call it.
The sound stage on this Vizio is FANTASTIC for the money! It might even be worth the quirks considering what you’re getting in sound. Seriously, it’s remarkable what Vizio achieved with this!

This sound bar is very easy to setup using the app on your phone or tablet. Volume is easily controlled via my Roku remote.
And.... the sound is fantastic. I put the wireless subwoofer near the wall on opposite side of the room and connected the rear surround speakers to that. Fills the room with great sound. Base sound is really deep and strong. Great deal for the price!

The Vizio system was not too bad in price and provides great value for a Dolby Atmos sound. I really like love it. I attached it to my 55" Roku tv so that it swings out when I move the tv on a full motion arm, that way the sound it always direct to you. The bass speaker is about 4 feet behind my gaming chair and the two little speakers are at my left and right angle, 5 feet back. Lots of nice thumps and bumps.

By far, the best soundbar/sound system I've ever owned. I was skeptical as Dolby Atmos has been so expensive, but this far exceeded my expectations. My room is completely filled with sound - left, right, up, down, everywhere! And the bass shakes the entire house. It really transformers the viewing experience, especially when watching movies.
Pros: Dolby Atmos, big bass, easy setup, great price

Overall it’s a good system, but does have some connectivity issues. I’m somewhat of an audiophile and for what the system is, I’m impressed by the quality of the sound. It’s not perfect but much better than I would have believed. I’m still experimenting with the sub placement but it seems adequate.
I have issues with the HDMI-ARC working when I first turn it on; the unit turns on but with no sound. If I cycle through the inputs it will work on optical and then if I go back to HDMI-ARC it will work.
Setup is pretty straight forward and the rear speaker wire is plenty long for my modestly sized living room.

I’m a huge audiophile so this system is temporarily in my home theater because I spent the majority of our budget on the television. That said, it’s quite possibly the best sounding sound bar I’ve heard for the price. It does come with one HDMI 2.0 cable but it’s basic quality and worth upgrading if you have an extra $20-30. You absolutely have to have the 2.0 or higher HDMI cable or you won’t be able to get Atmos sound. The system is supposed to be a “smart device” but it will not connect to Alexa as it’s advertised to do so and I’m not the only one who has this problem. I’ve read hundreds of reviews and 99% of people have the same issue and Vizio doesn’t seem to care to correct it but the TV has better features anyway so I’m fine with just using it for a surround sound system and don’t need it to do those things but if you were wanting to have those features then this is not the system for you. As for the sound, the clarity is quite remarkable and when you want some serious volume it’s happy to oblige without much distortion as long as you reduce the bass of the sound bar and the two rear channel speakers. The subwoofer has great bass and never sounds sloppy. It’s punchy so watching things like action movies, etc. sounds great. For a living room, this is an excellent system but it’s not going to be the greatest if it’s a very large, open floor plan as it’s not designed for large spaces but that should be obvious to just about anyone with a pulse. As I stated above, I have this in my basement in the area of my home theater which is 14’ x 20’ but the ceiling is currently a drop ceiling with the ceiling tiles that actually absorb sound which significantly reduces the effectiveness of Dolby Atmos since the whole idea of Atmos is to direct audio at an upward angle and bounce back down to the listener but with the ceiling tiles absorbing that sound, it’s pretty disappointing but I’m removing the drop ceiling soon and having a drywall ceiling installed which will correct that issue and increase the ceiling height by 18” so that will make a huge difference. To sum it up though, if you have a fairly average space, need a Dolby Atmos surround sound system that produces quality sound with no to minimal distortion, has more than enough volume for the average home (but more volume than needed for an apartment as you’ll have angry neighbors), and working with a tight budget, then definitely consider this unit. In fact, I’ve seen this model listed in PCMag and other top rated magazines as one of the best Atmos systems for the money and I have to agree. I’ve never owned any Vizio products before but I have friends who have and they say that Vizio is easy to work with when any warranty issues arise so you can feel comfortable in that regard.

Purchased this at a sub $300 price point .This sound bar and sub packs a punch. It’s exciting to watch Netflix and Disney plus movies with this sound bar. I’m certain that other speakers perform outstanding , but if you have a small house or apartment.. you can’t go wrong. Set up was simple. There are occasional problems with dialogue here and there. I just restart the sound bar which seems to fix these rare issues.

I got this to replace a Vizio. 5.1 sound bar setup for my bedroom. That Vizio had dolby digital+ and dts which was all I needed with my 1080p tv but then I stumbled on this beauty packing the often overlooked but oh so amazing lossless truehd and dts hd ma audio capacity! I'm not sure why this isn't highlighted in the reviews and advertisements of this product but this is a great way to enjoy the best in lossless Blu-ray audio without breaking the bank! The bass is nice and extensive, suitable for the bedroom (where I have it, and trust me, it's more than enough) but it should sound great in a small to moderate sized living room as well. Vocal audio is clear and the surrounds are great if only a slight bit subdued but that can be remedied by individually increasing the surround volume.
While I own 1080p tv and atmos is usually associated with 4k, some select hd blu-rays do include an atmos track (a small number... You'll have to find them). The atmos on this is serviceable, giving me the desired bubble of sound feeling but with selective directionality. What that means is depending on the movie, overhead directional audio objects vary from easy to locate to sounding a weird cloud of sound that you can tell is coming from the sound bar in front of you. This will not replace dedicated home theater atmos speakers anytime soon but, it's serviceable and the 5.1 lossless sound and bass seriously makes up for the atmos deficiencies. Toss in a well mastered track and prepare to enter a world of sound heaven. That's the secret to enjoying this... The right expectations. This will give you average atmos but excellent and real (not that pseudo, faux nonsense) lossless 5.1 audio. That's where this shines. The combination of both makes this worth the cost. So make of that what you will.
On another note, as many reviews have stated, the wifi connectivity for the vizio smartcast app is quite rubbish. Luckily I have an echo nearby so I don't really need the smart functions but you're likely screwed if you need to connect to WiFi. I got connected using bluetooth so that might help but I only do that to sidestep the other weakness of this soundbar: the remote with it's dark lcd. Prepare to strain your eyes or trot out your handy phone torch light if you're using this in the dark... Because the visibility is non-existent. I don't think it would've been that hard to add a lit lcd on the remote but what do I know? The smartcast app suffices as a remote and allows me to see the necessary functions so I get buy but if feels like a hack rather than the intended user case.
In summary, I got this for the sound which this does perfectly well so I'm not disappointed. I docked a star for the remote and smartcast wifi issues which I think is fair but honestly that shouldn't discourage you from picking up what is in essence the most affordable way to experience lossless sound and maybe a gateway to true atmos. This will keep you satiated for a while. Enjoy!

For what it is, it’s a great system. I haven’t had it for long, but it does a decent enough job for the price. As long as you haven’t heard any high quality Atmos sound systems, then you’ll be blown away by this.
The sound is booming and that subwoofer is surprisingly powerful. It’s not fair to compare this to other systems, but something I need to mention is you’re not going to get the same level of Atmos immersion from this as you would a 5.1.4 system.
The height speakers (the speakers that give you the overhead sound) are only in the sound bar. So, while you’ll still hear some stuff overhead, it doesn’t always quite feel like there’s actually something above you. A 5.1.4 system has height speakers in the sound bar and the satellite (side) speakers. So it can deliver more full array Atmos sound.
I listened to my friend’s 5.1.4 system and it sounded like rain was actually hitting his whole house. It was intense. If you have the money for the $999 Vizio 5.1.4 (or whatever brand), but you’re looking at getting this because you think, “Well, how much better can Atmos really be on more expensive systems?” do yourself a favor and go with the higher-end system.
This one is great if you’re like me and are on a budget, but since I’ve heard that other system before, I’m having a hard time with this one. Again, there’s nothing disappointing about this system’s sound, it’s just that once you’ve heard full array Atmos, it’s hard to go back.
Aside from the sound, I have had issues with the HDMI ARC. I have my Roku Ultra plugged into the ARC hub that’s built into the bar, but when I switch my TV input to play my PS4 Pro, the sound cuts in and out as if I’m turning the bar on and off really quickly. As soon as I remove the Roku HDMI from the bar, the sound goes back to normal.
There was also a time where I lost all sound in the side speakers and had to do a hard reset on the bar to get the sound back. So, this system certainly isn’t without some issues.
As far as setup goes, it’s super easy. You just plug everything in and change your TV’s sound input to whatever input you plugged into. The subwoofer is automatically paired with the bar and you just plug the satellite speakers into the subwoofer. Then download the SmartCast App, because it gives you way more control over the settings. Sometimes the app doesn’t like to connect, which is frustrating, but it’s still the best way to control the bar.
In conclusion, it’s a great system, for the price. It has some minor issues and won’t give you the full awesomeness of Atmos, but if you’ve never heard better, this will be amazing to you. If you have the extra money though, those $999+ are absolutely worth it. It’s a world of difference.

The system has great sound quality for the price point. The UI is a bit clunky in app and LED indicators are very confusing when switching between inputs or changing modes.
More often than not the system is unable to switch between inputs automatically and has to be manually set to the correct input type. There seems to be a lag in volume control where you see the changes take effect a few seconds after pressing the buttons.
But again the sound quality is terrific for the price point. The height speakers are a bit of disappointment but the sub and satellite speakers are pretty decent.

The sound quality of this VIZIO Atmos system performs much better than the Samsung Q6 and is much cheaper!. We originally purchased the Samsung but the sound was poor and you could not control the rear speaker volume level. This sound bar has superior bass and dialog is clearer. My only issue is with the HDMI TV/ARCH input. Since I have the Xbox hooked up directly to the soundbar, when I switch from the XBox to the TV air for local channels I lose audio. I have to change the input selection on the soundbar from HDMI/ARCH to HDMI and then back to HDMI/ARCH for it to work.
