This rig sounds amazing in a medium size living room. Very immersive. Don't get much height effect but that's the nature of these reflective sound bars. Still the upward firing drivers do add something.
If using with a ps5, be sure to set ps5 to output dts. Channels can cut out using pcm, and Dolby output usually has some latency.
I use it earc from a Sony x90j tv, ps5 plugged into x90j, and x90j outputting the audio 1 format. Usually can't even tell there is any latency.
Low end is bananas. Might need to dial down the subwoofer a bit.
This thing was a killer deal at $699. One of the best purchases I've made. Very happy.

I bought this with a new TCL TV in Nov 2020. I think it sounds great and I haven't had any reliability issues with the Atmos speakers rotating or anything. I do have connection and sound popping issues pretty much all of the time.
I normally watch TV with a Tivo and with HDMI eARC the soundbar has pretty much always stayed connected. However, every time you change a channel or pause TV or skip through a commercial there is a variable delay of something like 4-10 seconds before the sound starts up again that just drives you nuts. It's definitely long enough that you can miss dialog and have to rewind the video enough to start it early enough before the content that you want to hear, hoping that you guessed at the right amount of delay for it to start again. And regularly when you switch tuners or channels you just don't get any audio until you change something else. I haven't done the research to see if that's a Vizio problem or an eARC problem but whatever it is I'm just about ready to pitch this thing.
Also whenever you switch apps on the TV it almost never connects again and you go through a cycle of powering the soundbar on and off, which sometimes works, and then switching it to a different input and then back to the eARC to make it connect to the TV again which typically but not quite always works. And yes if you just pause the video source for a break you frequently have to go through that process again.
I recently bought a new optical audio cable and tried that. The delay issues with eARC went away but the connection / power cycling / input switching problems are even worse. And of course I lost the ATMOS functionality, not that I can tell that much difference. I am now spending less time piddling with rewinding video but I'm more unsatisfied than ever.
Finally the random very loud popping sounds can be quite unnerving. I've never seen a pattern or a cause buy when they turn up for an hour or two or a week or two it's a real pain in the neck. or ears.
So overall the sound is pretty great but it's not worth it. I see that Vizio always chimes in on these reviews so I contacted Vizio support just now. One support chat suggested that if the audio and video are in sync then that's about all we can hope for and I got cut off. A second tech tried a couple of steps with me and said it's broken and I should file a warranty claim. If it's broken now then it came new from the factory broken. At any rate, if I get a refund on this from my credit card I consider it a win.

Overall sound quality is real good, worth the penny. Only concern has been with frequent disconnect to the HDMI-eArc. Have to turn off and on the sound bar to connect to eArc. At times it become so frequent and makes it frustrating.

I upgraded from a Vizio 5.1 system and frankly, the Elevate is a world apart. Immersive crystal clear sound with a true movie theatre experience. You gotta get one easy to set up and dial-in.

Great sound for filling a medium-sized living room or slightly larger. The tiny rear speakers put out some good sound including height. The subwoofer adds a great depth to explosions and bass. The rotating speaker is neat but doesn't seem to rotate up that much (maybe it's the movies I'm watching?) That said I'm really impressed with the sound this puts out.

I’ve been a fan of Vizio forever. Don’t get me wrong. I try every brand of sound bar. There is including Sonos and I come back to Vizio . But the Vizio Elevate is like nothing. I’ve ever heard before the smallest of detail when it comes to sound you can hear in the system and it gives you so many options depending on what you’re watching or listening to.. its worth every cent and I will put this up against any of the so-called top brands because in my opinion, the only top brand is Vizio !!!!!

Great sounding system with performance equal to that of much more expensive systems. Dolby Atmos sound with the rotating speakers really adds more depth to the sound of everything that goes through them!

Out of the box one of the best dolby atmos sound bars you can get for the price. The build quality is great the brushed metal just works and the sound quality is great without dtx or dolby atmos. but when those speakers start to rotate it like another world experience sound from the front the side the rear and overhead and the bass wow the sound just fills the room. This sound bar is amazing never thought I would recommend a sound bar that costed a thousand dollars but is worth it and I got it on sale best buy ever.

Got the Elevate open-box, but probably would not have paid full price. The Atmos performance is meh at best, but as a 5.1 system, this thing is a beast. The sub kicks very hard, I had to turn it down to about -10db to balance things out.
Definitely crank the levels on the up-firing speakers to max, otherwise you probably won't notice the "Atmos bubble" effect. Still love the added dynamics, but sometimes I would just prefer a wider soundstage as opposed to the height, luckily that is an option.
Can be buggy at times, hoping for future updates. Clicks right in to the base of my Vizio OLED. That thing is a buggy mess, so honestly I can't tell whether its the TV or soundbar causing issues sometimes. Overall, the Elevate was a welcome upgrade to my old V51-H6. Crisp, clear surround with some extra depth I was missing before.

I’m not necessarily an audiophile, but I previously tried a Samsung Q850T (5.1.2) which had very weak bass, even with settings adjusted to the max. If anything, you get the opposite problem with the Elevate. I leave the subwoofer & bass set to 0, and it still rumbles very heavily. The soundbar gives fairly wide sound, and the surround sound is pretty crisp. While not a lot of content features Dolby Atmos yet, it does work for some Xbox Series X games & is definitely a neat feature. I would highly recommend this soundbar if on sale, but not sure I’d go for it at the current regular price of $1,099. If I had to mention a hangup, it’s that the SmartCast app frequently has a hard time finding the soundbar when you want to adjust its settings.

Dolby Atmos comes alive with this soundbar and subwoofer. The remote gives you control of equalizer, inputs, and all speakers, even the up firing. Non Atmos movies sound rich and full. Music is well defined with full dynamic range. Forget the app, it’s hard to setup, and use the remote to modify all parameters.

I had a Vizio 5.1.2 sounder. I had some issues with the soundbar going to sleep after long hours of watching TV plus due to my setup at the moment I couldn't stream HBO & Disney +. I wanted to upgrade in the near future but decided to upgrade the whole system including the TV and the soundbar. I am very happy with this purchase. It is definitely an upgrade over the older system. It does have some clipping and popping every once in a while but its not enough to drive me crazy (it the reason for 4 stars). I have this setup in my bedroom and it definitely fills the room. If you don't mind an occasional pop during some of the content then you will enjoy these.

Very satisfied with my purchase, this is by far the best 1 they have at Best Buy especially because I live in an apartment 2nd floor & the upstairs neighbors do a lot of stomping but this set i bought has been doing a great job!! I no longer hear them stomping & now i can watch tv more comfortably i use to hate watching tv cause you could hear the neighbors upstairs & it would be louder than the tv but I’m very very happy i bought this, its so perfect i hope they keep making this 1 for years & years in case i need to buy another in 20 years or so, just heads up you will have to turn the bass down cause it will shake the walls & im talking about all the walls (if your living in an apartment)…..this is the greatest thing made!!!!

Sounds great and looks great, too! Setup was easy, having no issues setting it up with my Vizio TV and Apple TV. Everything just worked. I thought I had a good soundbar before, but this one blows it away. You can really feel the subwoofer. Not a fan of rear speaker wires which can be a little cluttering. Overall, highly recommend!

How Vizio is unable to produce a better app than SmartCast is beyond me. It is, and has always been, a hideous piece of software.

This is my 3rd soundbar, LG was pure junk, didn’t have pass thru, then the original Vizio Dolby Atmos which had a few minor issues but now works fine. And Wow now! This Elevate blows everything on the market away. 18 speakers plus a massive down firing subwoofer. The dialogue follows one around your room, you don’t lose those speaking on the screen. I was hesitant to purchase because of the price even at $699.99, but with the generous holiday return policy I said why not. Now that I own, I’m definitely keeping. It’s as good or better than going to the theatre, plus it’s in the comfort of your own home, so it will eventually pay for itself. Well worth it!

Really good sound bar! Seen a few bad reviews about the app and connection issues but I never had any of them problems. Everthing connected as synced as soon as I plugged up the subwoofer and the sound bar. The app wasn't the greatest but in my opinion the app is useless anyways. Everything you need to do when setting up or adjusting things to you're liking can be done with the remote which has a little screen on it to navigate the menu. I mainly purchased it for the dolby atoms feature and I do good bit of gaming and this sound bar makes you feel as if you were in the game itself. I love that it has e-arc and that it has 4k HDR pass-through so it doesn't kill you're video quality. It was definitely worth the money and I'd recommend if you have the budget.

Wow, this thing sounds awesome! We replaced a 12 year old Sony surround sound system with the Elevate. Setup was quick and easy and the Vizio plays nice with our new SonyXR TV. The sound quality is excellent and the Dolby Atmos is incredible. Highly recommend this soundbar!
