Customers are saying

Customers find value in the overall sound quality, particularly the Dolby Atmos feature, which delivers an incredible sound experience. The soundbar also offers an easy setup process and includes rear speakers, making it a great value for the price. However, some customers have experienced connectivity issues between the soundbar and subwoofer, and the remote control has been criticized for its poor design.

I purchased this open box and it was damaged. I returned it and bought the smaller 5.1.2 unit. I hear this is very good for a large room. The smaller one is awesome and I would recommend saving the money.

VIZIO 46" 5.1.4 Home Theater Sound System with Dolby Atmos Review. This review is for the VIZIO 46" 5.1.4 Home Theater Sound System with Dolby Atmos soundbar with wireless subwoofer and satellite surround speakers. It is a 5.1 system. The .4 designates the upward firing of the end speakers on the soundbar and the satellite surround speakers. Included in the system are two adjustable speaker stands. The bar is 46 inches long and contains Atmos compatible speakers at each end and a dedicated center speaker whose volume is independently adjustable. The subwoofer is approximately a 15" x 15" x 15" cube. The subwoofer is wirelessly connected to the soundbar and the satellite speakers are connected to the subwoofer by approximately 25' long dedicated speaker cables with a molded plug with RCA jacks that plug into both the speakers and subwoofer. The subwoofer has to be connected to a 115 volt outlet. OK, how does it work? Great! My space did not allow for the desired rear speaker setup, but the Dolby Atmos sound is great. The base will shake the house, the quality of the sound and the surround effects are more than I expected. The individually adjustably volume of the center speaker is great for combating the seventh grade sound geniuses that make it impossible to understand the dialog above the all the unnecessary loud background music that they insist on using. Got my rant on that issue out of the way. We just moved and I have a whole surround setup with a Dolby receiver and after using this in my now smaller house I see no reason for having to setup all that equipment. I may not qualify as a true audiophile but I do have experience with a good system to compare this to. You naturally have to have the equipment to decode Dolby Atmos. My 6 year old 4K Blu-ray player which doesn't list Dolby Atmos, still played and produced the atmos effects from the demo Blu-ray disk that is included. If you want both 4K with HDR10+ or Dolby Vision and Atmos you can research the devices that will allow this. The list is limited, but attainable for everyone. Do your research. Programing and content is limited, but is out there on Blu-ray and Premium streaming services. I did thoroughly test this with an HDR10+ capable TV and Gamebox. I played Blu-ray disks and watched Dolby Atmos 4K media from streaming services The soundbar has both an HDMI in and an HDMI arc port. It also has digital, optical and analog sound in, although you only will get Dolby Atmos on the HDMI in port or the ARC port, if your device supports sending Atmos back to your receiver, which not many yet do. Early adopters will have to be satisfied with limited content for awhile, but I suspect that media with Atmos sound will grow at a much faster rate than true 4K is as broadcasting it will be cheaper than a full blown conversion to 4K and it will be a big draw for providers to use. It is pretty cool to be watching a movie with a scene that is in the rain and you can hear the rain falling around you. If you are into action and sci-fy with all the elaborate sound tracks, you will love this. OK. I recommend this Visio soundbar for what it can do and although it isn't cheap, it is way less than a conventional system. Saying that, I recommend you read on as the nuts and bolts of the system may reveal some negatives. I will start with setup. First you need a flat hard ceiling from 8 to 12 feet high. Acoustical ceilings naturally will not work as bouncing the speaker frequency waves replaces the need for ceiling speakers. The recommended setup is having the rear satellite surround speakers equal distance to the sides and the same distance to the rear of the seating area as the seating area is from the speaker bar. They recommend the subwoofer placed next to the seating area, but the sub has to be placed where ever the need is to allow the wires to reach the desired surround speaker locations and the human ear really can't detect the direction that low frequencies of a subwoofer are coming from anyway. The satellite speakers come with wall mount brackets. The plugs will require a one inch hole if you are thinking about running them through a basement or crawl space. I suppose they could be extended with RCA jacks if you can wire the jacks. The setup can be very easy if you have no problem with cords on your floor or rather trying if exposed cords are a problem. The system does not show an on screen display when you use the remote and the display on the remote is useless in the dark, so installing the phone or tablet app to control it is a must. Volume is not a problem as your tv, cable or satellite box will control the volume. The adjustments include three equalizer modes. Music, movies and direct. Also Surround to speaker bar distance balance, surround volume and center volume. The left to right balance is fixed. The ceiling firing feature of Dolbly Atmos is on or off and there is a virtual ceiling speaker mode that can be used with non Atmos sound, which I suspect, from my experience with it, will not be used by many people. The virtual ceiling setting only emits from the front speakers. The speaker bar needs to have clear space above it as it needs to fire up towards the ceiling. I would have given it 5 stars based on performance, but I knocked it down to 4 stars because of the poor remote and the lack of an onscreen display for the audio adjustments. I also don't like the large speaker wire plugs. They should have used single RCA jacks on each wire in the two wire cable and left the last foot split so you could snake one wire behind the other through a small hole. Also the speaker wires should be 10 feet longer so you can get the speakers where you want, when you have to follow the perimter of the room. I know, you can lenghten the wires, but it is supposed to be a plug and play system.

It’s a good Dolby atmos soundbar but not the best because the subwoofer keep losing connection if the subwoofer can continue connecting and not losing connection then it will be the perfect Dolby atmos soundbar

There appears to be a low hissing sound that comes from the rear surrounds when there is no audio (ex:voices, explosions) being produced from its source.

Very impressive soundstage. Only reason why I returned it was to get the Samsung HW-Q90R, which is much more costly, but in reality, this Vizio had almost the same sound, which was pretty impressive.

I was skeptic because I read a lot of the reviews and saw repeated complaints of static, I bought it anyways because it was a good deal at the time and I believe in Vizio, so anyways. They sound flawless, got mine hooked up via HDMI ARC and the sound is freaking amazing, I jumped on my girls butt because I thought she farted when it reality it was thunder from the surround sound (had to rewind the film) but yes overall I’m impressed, upgraded the 5.1 vizio system and I am impressed, it’s a huge jump in quality

I am still debating whether or not to keep this setup or not. When it works it produces fantastic sound. Vicious has been updating this system routinely and I hope they get some of the glitches fixed. I have had to reset several times and it is not happy with changing inputs. I have an Xbox, PS4 and AppleTV and who knew that to play Atmos they have to be connected directly to the sound bar with HDMI and the sound bar only comes with one connection.

I have this sound bar system connected to a vizio television. The sound bar will randomly shut off and sometimes raise the volume for no reason. You would think it would sink seamlessly as they're the same brand but I'm not too happy with the functionality over all. The sound is pretty good but I would just recommend buying something else
