The pinnacle of sound bars...and true surround!

    |
    Posted .

In this case, bigger IS better. To start with, the extra size garners you the extra power that results in the highest dB output of any of Vizio's sound bars ever - 104 dB to be exact. And the largest woofer - an 8" cone. Simply put....this system will rock your socks off. Combine those with its wide size creating a truly expansive front sound stage, and it's already a winner. But, there's more! Second, the extra size also gets you the most connections that Vizio implements into any of their sound bars - 2 HDMI's, 1 USB, 1 RCA, 1 Toslink, 1 Digital Coax, and 1 accessory 3.5 mm. If you decide to focus on any of those, it's the 2 HDMI's. This allows you to send your audio/video signal unmolested direct from your Blu-Ray player to the sound bar's first HDMI for decoding within (meaning: true Dolby Digital and DTS, not PCM), and then the video to be passed out to the TV through the second HDMI. And that beautiful Dolby Digital or DTS? It arrives to serenade your senses from 2 true rear channels, making this sound bar system a true 5.1 surround sound experience. Finally, consider that this sound bar was rated a CNET Best Sound Bar of 2014 and is now a classic. Vizio decided to discontinue this 54" model and, even with its new line of sound bars, hasn't since released a model with as many inputs or as high a power output. So, grab the last ones that Best Buy has and secure your bragging rights! By the way, the Bluetooth streaming is super and a wonderful feature. Thought I should throw that in :)

Tried the zvox but had to return it.

I moved to a smaller place. I used to have the Harmon Kardon dpr 1001 with a 7.1 surround sound. I had Polk speakers/sub/center and the sound was awesome. After moving into a 710 sq ft condo the space the system took up was way too much. I tried a few different systems. Thanks Best Buy for being able to return them. The vizio is by far the best! Having the sound bar along with the sub/2 rear speakers is great. It's not what I had but very close and I spent over $3000 for my original setup. This was $400 plus change.

    Recommended Purchase!

When I bought my TV, I listened to a couple soundbars and was very impressed with the Vizio 5.1 Soundbar system. Plenty of volume, tight and well defined Bass, especially coming from a wireless Sub. I still need to fine tune it a little for my room, but all in all a highly recommended soundbar, and a great value. I found out after the purchase and setup that Sound And Vision Magazine gave this system a glowing review and Recommendation. Enough said!

    Awesome Sound!!

This sound bar is AWESOME! Visio really out did themselves with this thing. Bought this for my 55 inch LG. I originally purchased a 2.1 Samsung sound bar but searched the Internet afterwards and came across this one. I was kinda on the fence because I didn't want to mix brands ( I am a little obsessed at times). After reading all the reviews I knew this would be better ( I never opened the Samsung 2.1 because I figured I would be disappointed). The other thing that pulled me towards Vizio was the satellite speakers for a true surround sound. The satellite speakers have to be connected to the subwoofer but the subwoofer doesn't need to be connected to the sound bar. Setup was pretty easy. Because I have a set top box, blue ray disc player, and other game consoles hooked up to the TV, I plugged the HDMI cable into the arc port on the sound bar and the other end to the HDMI arc port on the TV so that whenever I was watching any of the devices the sound would automatically come through the sound bar. It really sounds great people, well worth the money. As a matter of fact, I'm surprise it doesn't cost more. The remote is ok. The subwoofer will make your floor rumble... I love this thing. So look no further, I do not believe you will be disappointed!

This is the perfect piece of equipment for any system. No need to spend a thousand dollars. I mean if you want the most high end system go ahead and spend the money but personally I was so impressed with the Vizio that I'm so glad I purchased it. I did quite a bit of research so it wasn't just an impulse buy. Sounds great with my Samsung 7100 series tv. Setup was real easy. Also, system sounds sweet when using pandora or I love radio, can really turn it up and the whole house is jumping, no distortion no buzz just some great sound. You won't be disappointed !

Rear speakers make this my go to sound bar

    |
    Posted .

The rear speakers make this my sound bar of choice. I like that you don't have to rely on sound reflections to recreate surround sound... As with the majority of sound bar systems, I wish the subwoofer were more substantial. Vizio has several models for this line and this has the largest subwoofer (8" driver) as well as an expanded bar (I believe the drivers are upgraded). Very easy to setup and at $499 ($399 on sale) is still a great value. There are systems with better bars and subwoofers (mostly more expensive) for sure - but none will give you the rear channel. Can't compete with a true 5.1+ setup, but I think this is among the best compromises if you want great sound and surround effects without cluttering up the living room with wires. Adds great depth to the audio of a home theater and makes for a nice, clean, sleek setup!

The Vizio 5.1 Channel Soundbar System with Bluetooth was super easy to set up and use. The subwoofer and back speakers are connected to each other, but wireless from the main soundbar, and the soundbar "found" them instantly. My cable box remote also was able to instantly find the new sound system, and adjusting volume from the master remote was easy. This system is comparable in sound quality to systems I have listened to costing hundreds of dollars more. Saying a lot, I know, but this system compares favorably with Bose.

    Overall a good choice

First off, make sure you have the room as the sound bar is large. I had the space and C.Net rated it very high so I gave it a shot. It does sound really good with a nice center balance to the front, so conversation is easy to hear in TV and movies. I will say that the remote and crazy small screen ( that doesnt light up) is a little more anoying that I expected. The really small on-bar display is okay but also a little anoying. This combined with the huge volume difference between TV/DVD functions and connecting to a bluetooth device make me choose 4 stars. FYI when using a bluetooth item you need to turn the sound way up...then you switch back to TV and whammo, it's super loud!

This sound system awesome. The surround sounds is so clear that you can hear what's going on your left and right. sometime it feels like something is happening right next to you. Bass is nice and no wire cluttering as rear speakers are connected bass woofer and woofer is connected wireless to sound bar.

I got a good deal on this sounder. Amazon had it on sale, and best buy had no problem doing a price match, they made it very easy. This is a good sound bar, it has everything you want it soundbar, bluetooth, wireless sub, all that good stuff, and the rear speakers are a nice touch, it adds a better surround sound experience. However, I will say the sound quality is good, but not outstanding. The sub puts out good bass, and the speakers are loud, but voices sound muffled almost, if people are talking fast or quietly, then its not very clear, it can be hard to understand them. Also, one of the speaker in the sound bar has messed up, idk if it was because I turned it up too loud or something, but I hear a faint whining noise when there are higher pitch sounds. Luckily, since I got mine on sale, I was able to purchase insurance, still spending less original price, so i should be able to get that fix. Overall, its a good sound bar, the speaker being messed up, is a little annoying, but other than that I'm enjoying it, definitely worth the money.

Easy Setup, no clutter, not the best sound

I read a lot of great reviews about this Vizio sound bar and decided to give it a try. It was really easy to set up (I used HDMI ARC) and I really liked the handy remote with the LCD display. Bluetooth connectivity was good; however I had to re-pair my iPhone each time I restarted the speaker. The Vizio comes with all mounting hardware which makes it really easy for those who want to wall mount their soundbar or/and speakers. The wireless subwoofer makes it easy to place it anywhere in the room. The speaker cables though were a little short (only about 13.5') and if I had to mount them I'd have had to buy a 25' cable. The system had good bass and surround sound...however at times I felt that the clarity it was not that great (I was comparing it against a Bose 5.1 surround system and this Vizio was not up to the same level). I personally have decided to return the Vizio (because I got a great deal on the Bose) but for anyone else looking for budget surround speaker system I would definitely recommend giving this a try.

I can't say anything bad about this unit. In general is sounds much better than the 7 channel surround sound system that I have. They have great sound that comes from all round the room. Had to tone down the sub and the fine tuning was very easy, straight forward and most of the time I keep the speakers at the 2nd level. Much easier to hear people talk and can even make out the higher pitch tones that I can't usually hear. Not a complaint in this house as my wife agrees that we should have bought them along time ago.

Convenient 5.1 channel sound w/out so many cables

I had researched a lot of options for a soundbar, but was not willing to give up having 5.1 sound. This was the perfect fit and had one other equally awesome feature. It has the HDMI ARC input that unifies all of the various inputs you may have going into the TV (PS3, Tivo, DVD player) so that they all go through one cable from the TV to the Sound Bar.

Incredible Sound for a Great Price

I went for the bigger soundbar even though my tv is only 50 inches, and the larger subwoofer certainly packs the punch I wanted to hear in my movies. You get true surround sound with two rear speakers that plug right into the subwoofer for easy access, and you can't beat the quality, since I've been using this system for almost five years with no problems at all. Highly recommended!

    Lowest volume level kinda loud.

    Posted .

Lowest volume setting on remote is not a low, quiet listening level. It's actually a normal listening level then just drops to zero from there,weird.E-mailed Vizio support, they just replied with a"huh?don't know what you're talking about.Oh well. Other than that,at this price range and whats included, this is awsome for small to medium sized rooms.Rear satellites connect to the powered bluetooth subwoofer, very clean just two wires for left and right and plug in subwoofer to wall outlet.Subwoofer automatically links to soundbar via bluetooth. This won't shake the house off the foundation like $1,000+ plus system, but it will get pretty low for its small sized sub 8"? The trick I think is the very low impedence, like 2 or 3ohms,very efficient. I get max bass from my sub by pointing the port side into the corner of one wall behind me,a little trick I read about once in the past to get the most bass. The 5.1 channel separation works independent and perfectly and very adjustable via remote. My Galaxy S5 links via bluetooth easily so I can listen to my Spotify catalog. The soundbar has separate amplifiers for each channel I think, center, left and right channels, and there is also a little square shaped subwoofer in the soundbar as well. I can control the volume of the soundbar with my Samsung t.v. remote with this Anynet+(HDMI-CEC) thing, really cool. There's that and also a FIBER OPTIC-IN I use for an old PS2 when I'm feeling nostalgic. There's a COAX-IN and RCA-IN as well as another regular type HDMI and a USB-IN. Lastly, there is also a white noise generator feature on the remote for adjusting speaker output? I highly recommend this product for what you're gettin in this price range, you just have to turn off the unit when you want to hear the t.v. at lower, quiter listening levels like late at night, which I have found to be not that annoying as I thought it would be. Maybe someday Vizio will discover this small flaw in this product and will send me an update on a USB stick and I'll be able to update the software, which I think is what the USB port in back is for. Hope this helped, I would buy this again.

Sound is great! Easy set-up! Love the Bluetooth Subwoofer. The only negative I can say is I must have misread the description, as I though the Satellite speakers were also Bluetooth. These speaker must be plugged into the Subwoofer. Other than that, it works perfectly with my new 70" Visio TV. Glad I got this!

its a good soundbar. Bought it for the 8in sub. Haven't tried the 5.1 yet, but it's a nice feature. Bluetooth works well. I use the optical connection from my tv to the bar. The connector on the bar broke so the cable doesn't snap into place. It stills stays where it should so it's not a big deal, but a bit of a bummer.

I wasn't sure exactly what I was looking for when I decided to get a Soundbar System. I looked at a lot of different products and ultimately settled on the Vizio 5.1. The sound quality was awesome and it provides multiple hookups depending on what your connecting devices have available. It would be nice if the satellite speakers were also bluetooth, but thankfully the subwoofer is bluetooth so I was able to hide the cords away from the tv.
