I've had my p50 for over an month now. I couldn't be happier sold my curved samsung to buy this set and haven't looked back. I will never own an edge lit display again and companies that sell them for way more than this set without hdr or dv should be ashamed. the casting from tablet has grown on me. watched pacific rim on vudu in 4k dolby vision and was blown away by the black levels and detail. if you having trouble deciding don't think twice.

Picture quality on this display is amazing! Just upgraded from the m-series 4K and this totally blows that away. 4K and ultra hd content looks incredible. Really enjoy the vizio Cast android tablet as well. Easy set up and easy configuration. Roku 4K looks really nice on here too as well YouTube, Netflix, and amazon video. The tablet is fun to play with as you tweak tv settings. You can adjust everything from the tablet and create your custom picture settings. Once I found the settings I liked I couldn't get off the couch. I was blown away by the picture quality. Have not had any issues so far, no light bleed in the corners, ect. Colors and blackness are amazing. No bright white or cloudy spots on screen everything that's supposed to be black is pitch black! This is a great quality display! Only regret, not being able to buy the biggest screen

First off this is a great step into the 4k HDR arena for a moderate price, there are better choices for a few hundred more but I wanted to stay below the 1000 dollar ceiling with tax. The p50-c1 is a 60hz display I didn't let that scare me off I personal don't see the difference between 60hz and 120hz I know there is one but It doesn't affect me. Once out of the box and set up on the stand I plugged it in to the Xbox one s with the hdmi cable provided,I fired up the tablet/remote and started the setup process that went okay the tablet does take some time updating it is android lollipop, where it started to get off the tracks was when I checked what firmware the display was running and it was no where close to 3.0.13.5 the latest you need for HDR10 to function, so I repeated all the steps again the display updated again went back to check and still not the newest closer 2. something but not 3 UGH...So I ran all the steps again this time the display did not find another update??? so off to the vizio site you can manually grab the firmware and slam it on a thumb drive wich I did and once plugged into the USB on the display it loaded up and updated to 3.0.13.5. Next fire up the Xbox it see's the tv is 4k capable turned on subsampling and I'm off to the races.

What more can be said for this specific TV besides that it woks perfectly. Whether it be for games or for film the TV displays a great picture with minimal input lag. The tablet remote is useful but not a necessity for my self, I personally favor a user interface on the screen over the tablet to stream content (aka an xbox one).
*For Gamers: I have also used this TV via HDMI with my PC (sporting a titan x) to play in both 4k and 1440p. It works well and the colors are great, but I ran into two annoyances. First was input lag. Especially during first person shooters (like DOOM). I am sure with enough knowledge & research you can fix this, but at the moment I wasn't willing to put in the effort. Secondly, at this screen size (50-65 inches) 4k AAA games without 4k textures looks comparable to 1080p. This is my personal opinion, but after playing AAA titles at 4k and at this size (I sit roughly 2-3.5 from the 50 inch screen) you can see the blurriness of the textures being used. It is truly unfortunate, however there are 4k texture mods that you can use to offset this issue.
*Audio Enthusiasts: The audio speakers on these TV's is enough to hear whatever your watching and that is pretty much it. Not to say that the speakers are bad but they are truly just standard speakers, nothing special. For those that want more fidelity in their audio, I can recommend Vizio's new 2016 line of 5.1 sound systems. I personally have the Vizio SB4551 D5 (flagship model). The audio from this system completely trumps the standard speakers. It easily connects to your TV, supports bitstream, Dolby DTS, and bluetooth (I often use these as my computer speakers as well). If you are used to super high end audio then this system is not for you, if you are looking into an entry point into surround sound then this system (and like models) is for you.

If you are in the slightest Tech Savy then this is for you, BUT if this is for you mom or dad or just someone who doesnt really deal with electronics much this remote will make you want to break something. Its a really cool android touchscreen that doubles as a remote and is easy to use for most, say anyone with a smartphone, but for those who still prefer a lan line or their flip phone or blueberry look elsewhere because you probably wont even get past the calabration setup. Everything else is perfection for the price to value ratio. Get a $100-$250 soundbar and youre golden as the TV speakers are no bueno, as are all TV speakers so thats to be expected.

The black levels on this display are incredible and almost OLED-like for a reasonable price. I paid 799.99 on Memorial Day weekend and do not regret buying this display in the very least. This tablet remote isn't as bothersome for me as it apparently is for others. Colors are fine, Marco Polo in Dolby Vision on Netflix looks great and the colors pop. Non-HD sources look sub-par, but its not like I paid 799.99 expecting the upscaling capability to be on the same level as a high end television. Looking forward to the HDR 10 update. I say, wait until its on sale for 799.00 again and definitely pick one up! If my pics look bad its because of my cellphone's camera - not the Vizio P 201.

Lemon that lasts less than a year

I had the TV less than a year and a distortion affected the screen where it became unwatchable. Vizio support sent me the same exact model and again, less than a year later, it had the same exact screen distortion fault. This time Vizio support will not replace this TV and wants me to pay them more money to get a replacement.
Why should I ever trust Vizio brand again?
When I had an issue, they sent me another TV that would suffer from the same issue in less than a year again, but long enough that they would not have to replace it with a TV that was not another lemon of the same model.

Best 4K TV in price range

I did a ton of research before making this purchase and ultimately came to the conclusion that this was the best 4K HDR UHD TV in its price range by far. You will not find a better TV for this price that has all the features and options with the multitude of positive critical reviews that this Vizio P50-C1 has. If you need a 50" 4K UHD TV with HDR look no further than the P50-C1. I could not be more impressed. It blows away my friends TVs that cost them hundreds more.
Pros:
-Unbeatable price
-Best picture in its class
-Every option you could ask for and more
-Thin, sleek, modern lightweight design.
-4K UHD, with HDR, Chromecast
-Comes with FREE Andriod Tablet that is used as a remote. (It can also download apps, games, browse the web etc. all while casting the picture to the 50" TV where you can see it all in real time wirelessly through Chromecast)
Cons:
:Though it doesn't bother me, I can understandably see how the Android tablet is a confusing and difficult remote to use when it comes to calibrating and changing the settings of the TV. Though the TV does have a regular remote it only has the basic functions and everything else must be done through the Tablet. So if you're from an older generation or just not very tech savvy this might be somewhat confusing or difficult.

First Unit was a Lemon, Second Unit is amazing

My first unit had issue after issue. Setup wouldn't work without manually installing a firmware update by USB (I had to research and get it from the Vizio website), then casting, the main feature, wouldn't work. After much research and trouble, I realized that this unit must be a lemon as others have not had this much trouble with it.
I exchanged the first unit for a new unit and the second one was a breeze to setup, with zero issues. This is an incredible TV, with incredible picture quality and build. The price is also a nice bonus.
Minus one star for the first unit being a dud, but even more because of the poor customer service I received from Best Buy.
They allow exchanges, but you have to gamble and hope they have another unit in stock to exchange. They won't hold a unit for you, ship one to store for you, or even ship it to your home unless you buy another unit and have a refund for the older unit. Initially, they didn't have any in stock close to me and it would require me to drive one hour one way to another store and hope they don't sell it by the time I get there since they won't hold units for me. The "manager" told me that they had no plans to receive more units at the store I bought it from. If it wasn't for the online website showing that they just received some the next day, I wouldn't have known that they received more. They also have a policy that they cannot tell me how much stock there is.
Overall, the customer service policies need to be adjusted for situations like this. If a customer purchases a high price item and it doesn't work, the business should be responsible for providing a unit that does work and make it so it isn't a significant burden for the customer.

High Quality, Great Price

I got this TV for a bit under $800, and it was worth every penny. The quality is great (even though 4K looks better on screens bigger than 50-inch, imho) and the setup was easy. I like how I don't have to rely on a clicker and an onscreen interface to pick my movies and TV shows. Even though I use my personal phone to Cast movies and shows to the screen, I have installed a bunch of media apps installed on the included 6-inch Android remote when I am sitting down for a movie night or want access to apps like FX Now. I suggest turning off Eco mode, as that will allow you to turn on the TV with your personal phone once you have successfully paired the Smartcast app with the TV.
Vizio also worked directly with Google to bring 4K content support to its new line of TVs, since the first and second Chromecast TV dongles do not support 4K. Apps like Netflix, YouTube and Vudu support 4K streaming (more in the future). I have yet to experience the HDR due to a lack of streamable content, but I'm happy this display supports both major formats (HDR10 and Dolby Vision).
The sound is okay, and was bummed when I found out I couldn't just plug in my old Big Jambox since the display doesn't have an auxiliary port. I ended up buying the 38-inch Vizio Soundbar, subwoofer and satellite speakers.
Read below to see how to get Amazon Video working on this TV.
Pros:
- Price
- Ease of use
- Picture quality
- Built-in Google Cast
Cons:
- Speakers
- Lack of Auxiliary port
Amazon Video workaround: Amazon still has yet to bring its Amazon Video app to Google Play. But you can still get the Amazon Video app by downloading Amazon Underground to the Vizio Android device included with the TV. But Amazon has yet to implement Google Cast functionality to its app (I wonder why). Not to fear, simply swipe down the notification tray from the top of the screen and then click or swipe down from the top back to access the Quick Settings. There should be a "Cast screen" option. Once you've clicked "Cast screen" simply open the Amazon Video app, pick your show and put the device in landscape mode!

I did a ton of research and found on more then one website that this was said to be the best TV. Right now for a TV with HDR it really is at this price range. I say go with this or spend $4k for OLED.
Positives: Chrome cast works with everything on android, colors are beautiful, HDR 10 (promised) and current Dolby HDR support, super bright, 4:4:4 chroma support, 4k at 60hz.
Bad: Narrow viewing angle, no 3D, no TV tuner, HDMI 5 has problems when using with PC.
Please also keep in mind the 55 inch has a IPS screen and all the others have VA. IPS means wider viewing angle. VA is better blacks. I hear many say the VA is beautiful in comparison to the IPS, but have not seen myself.

I had been watching the Vizio 2016 monitors for awhile, as they featured HDR and jumped at the chance to get it when BB had it on sale for $200 off back around Memorial Day.
Pros:
Picture - I went from an LCD with CCFLs to LEDs and local dimming
Design - I really like the aluminum finish, and how it stands out against everything else I own that is either matte black or shiny black.
Tablet remote and internet features - they work well, and easy to setup
Some people might dislike the tablet and Google Cast, but it's just software that runs off an iOS or Android device, and the software is upgradable.
Cons:
This monitor lacks a TV tuner, so that is a separate purchase, but the ATSC standards supposedly changing next year, so it's not a full con, and it's easier to replace a cheap tuner box than the whole TV or having to buy a new turner regardless.
The viewing angles aren't as good as IPS panels, my previous LCD holds colors better at extreme angles.

First off, excellent picture quality. The best inky black levels you will find outside of an OLED display. Great HDR, Dolby Vision. Excellent motion capabilities.
Second and probably the best idea for TV/Displays is the cast ability. Most people have smart phones and or tablets today. This is a great extension to cast almost anything to the big screen in the room.
If for some reason you don't already have a smart phone or tablet, a really decent 6" tablet come right along with this great display right in the box.
It really shows that VIZIO is in the heart of California right next to all the other great American tech companies.
I plan to buy 2 of the 65" P Series also to replace more TV's in the house.

10-bit panel, great color and contrast, lots of inputs, can get REALLY bright. Sound is very good. Still waiting on firmware update to improve HDR compatibility with Xbox One S. Netflix and Amazon still look horrible, gamma and colors get crushed and lose lots of detail. Vizio PR confirmed one was in the works October, would be out by end of November, it's almost 2016 and still nowhere in sight. Frustrating, but aside from that, a very good purchase. It wasn't even on sale at the time, and I do not regret it at all.

The Vizio P50-C1 is a great 4K tv with phenomenal black levels and a sharp picture. If you want to watch 1080 p content and higher (4K), or want to play video games with low to barely noticeable input lag this TV is the for you. For those looking to upscale 720 p and lower content (360 p and below) this TV may not meet your needs. Though the up scaling of content is adequate, when compared to other high end brands of 4K TV's (Sony, LG) the Vizio does fall behind. Overall though for the price point, quality, & features of this TV, the Vizio P50-C1 cannot be beat.

This tv is insane for its price point. It has some of the best blacks on any tv, nevermind anything in this price range. The colors are awesome when you get it calibrated correctly. Having 5 hdmi is incredible as well. Most people's complaints with this tv is the fact that you do everything through the app on the included tablet (which is pretty good btw) but let me tell you, the only time you're going into that app is to calibrate the tv etc. there's no need to open it otherwise. The included simple remote is a little plasticy but it gets basically every job done. The casting on the tv works great, but remember, you don't HAVE to use it. Get yourself a streaming box and your life will be much simpler and streamlined. Another thing worth noting about the tv is its INCREDIBLE build quality. Just amazing how nice the aluminum frame is. Bottom line is that you should get this tv if you're looking for a full featured tv at an awesome price point.
