Ok, so I bought this as a gaming and PC monitor for my game room so I could put my second gen Samsung QLED back in my bedroom. So it looks AMAZING and I'm sure having read that you're probably wondering why only 3 stars, well that boils down total port accessibility, only one port can do 4K at 120Hz and 1080p at 240Hz while the others can at least do 4K at 60Hz and 1080p at 120Hz which is weird for them all being HDMI 2.1 ports. So while it fits the bill for my PC as I like to game at 4K and 120Hz it does no good for my Series X.
In the end it's honestly probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to graphical quality if you have a next gen system or PC and especially if you're not wanting to drop the money on an LG C2 or an actual gaming monitor which while mostly superior I prefer more visual real estate when I game. That being said since an LG C2 will take this ones place in the near future and the kiddo will upgrade to this one. So yeah, 3 stars because it only partially fit the bill in having only one port that did what I needed so that was a bummer on top of the legs and how they are mounted, it feel like they stopped designing them halfway through, they do not feel sturdy at all and I recommend mounting. Where's the G-Sync compatibility, some sites show it and some don't and sadly in the end it is not, c'est la vie.

Hello MollyG, open box items are more likely customer returns that cannot be sold as 'brand new' anymore. These items are inspected, cleaned, and sold at a discount by the seller. Open box items have varying conditions that will state whether the item is 'like new' all the way down to 'functional but missing necessary components, think a laptop missing a charger as an example. Most open box items can be inspected in-store by you before purchasing. If you have any questions, we are available through text message, chat, or over the phone. 43 days in and screen is bleeding on a bedroom TV. Only watched for short time at night. Very low on features and no program info over antenna and no guide. This one is a dud. Maybe the replacement will have a screen that last. My first disappointment with Vizio.

50" tv as a computer monitor with my experience

I'm currently using this as a desktop monitor. Having used many different brands such as Vizio, Lg, Samsung, Toshiba, and Onn between 32' and 55' on Pc. The Vizio 50" Max Series I'm extremely pleased with. I'm currently even running Amd Freesync and Hdr as well.
With the other brands a few years ago I would have to overclock the refresh rate by forcing 1080p at a higher refresh rate that would run stable between 80 and 120hz (depending on brand, price, and max default refresh rate)) at 1080p to get a higher refresh rate above 60. With this Tv I'm running native 1080p at 240hz refresh rate which is something you used to typically only get on gaming monitors. Sure 4k looks great, but I prefer performance over slightly improved visuals and would much rather have a higher refresh rate over 4k. I have not attempted overclocking and forcing the refresh rate higher on this Tv as I find 240hz at 50" to be more than sufficient for my needs.
I have always preferred bigger screens over gaming monitors because I'm more immersed in what ever game I'm playing. If I'm mixing music I can fine tune whatever any automation with ease without having to get closer to the monitor or blow up which ever window I'm currently looking at.
This Tv has excellent color vibrancy, balance between contrast, and saturation. Older Vizio's had the issue of being a little to dark with shadows and darkness in scenes but I feel like they've corrected those issues and truly developed a beautiful looking screen.
As always when I get a new Tv the first thing I do after initial setup is tune the screen to my liking and turning the brightness down to an acceptable level for the room environment of the Tv. Adjusting the brightness and having curtains go a long way to extending your Tv's life. As for the rest of the features included with the smart Tv I can't really speak on since I can do everything I need from my desktop computer.
I can't speak on the quality of sound too much because I use Beyerdynamic Dt 990 pro 250 ohm studio monitor headphones through a dac amp. Through a quick listen to music through the speakers right now the speakers are of good quality for tv speakers. While listening to Ganja White Night x Subtronics - Womp Portal which has a very dynamic sound I feel like it conveys the music well. With Surround sound off or on the music sounds fairly well balanced and you have a sense of space within the song for each instrument. Virtual x sounded a little weird but has increased depth, but unwilling to crank the Tv louder for the sake of other people I didn't test that specific surround setting too much. Virtual x would probably suit movies or shows substantially better than Dubstep. If you want better sound quality then I suggest getting surround system or a dedicated sound bar and subwoofer combo.
With all that being said on my interesting and particular use case if you find this Tv on sale it it well worth the money in my opinion if you are looking for a similar application.
With that being said I will leave you with one final piece of information for use as a computer monitor. Before you decide on getting a big screen you have to consider your distance, relative high to center on the screen on where you're placing it and sitting. (I'm sitting just above center in the middle of the screen). I'm currently sitting far enough back that I don't have to turn my head at all really unless I just feel like doing it when I'm using the Tv and can just continue on using it as a normal computer monitor with the added benefit of increased awareness to what I'm doing. Decide if you have enough space for your setup and what screen size is efficient for you before diving into the world of using a Tv as a computer monitor.
Who knows. You may never be able to go back much like I have

Really happy with this purchase so far. I'm using it as my main monitor for my computer setup. It looks great for my graphic design work and looks awesome as a gaming monitor. Once you go 120hz you really can't go back. It gets really bright, almost to the point of it being too bright on a really white webpage or Word document.

I have looked at the features on this TV compared to others in the same price range and you can't beat this TV, with 120 hertz and local dimming. This TV is primarily used for my son's PS-5 and the motion is fast and the colors deep and rich. The bonus is the sound is pretty good considering how things TV's are today.

Great Television for Gaming

I purchased this television to compliment my Xbox Series X, and am happy with the results so far. After some tweaks in personal taste, the picture quality is solid and looks good with the Series X. The sound from the television itself is not the best, but I mostly use headphones through the console so it's not really a big deal for me. I like that it has an audio output that I connect to my stereo receiver for when I want to crank up some tunes through the console as well. I don't watch cable television, so I'm happy that it does include the ability to connect a digital antenna for local news/sports. The HDMI 2.1 port with 120hz and variable refresh rate has been working great for me so far. My previous television was an older 1080p, and the difference in quality and detail was immediate, and looks great. All in all I'm happy with the purchase as this is a good medium-priced television that is serving it's purpose for me. I can't comment much on the SmartCast, as I don't really use it.

I didn’t want an expensive TV since I don’t watch TV as much. I chose this over the Samsung 7 series and Sony x85k due to the price, quality, and reviews. The picture quality is crisp compared to my (older) Samsung LED tv. I like how the brightness is maintained when it’s well lit or when the sun faces the living room. There are various picture settings you can choose to your preference. I haven’t tested the 120ghz with my gaming console, so I can’t speak on that. Only downside would be the black pixelation when the room is dark, but I figured that would be the case for a budget non-OLED TV. No issues with the volume. I recommend connecting it with a sound bar for better sound quality for movies and sports. Overall, this TV fits my need and it’s aimed for people looking for a budget TV.

Good TV. The colors and gaming performance are excellent! There are a few things that make it a 4-star and not a 5-star TV.
The main reason is the software. This is my first Vizio tv, and personally, I think that SmartCast lacks important features such as a store and the ability to remove applications. There are also some apps that I wish it had such as NBC Sports, Xfinity Stream, and Spotify. The apps issue is solved by the built-in Chromecast, but I do wish they had more integrated apps.
Second, sometimes my tv does not turn on after I click the power button. The light indicator will blink multiple times and then turn off. Almost as if it is rebooting. Although this only happens once in a while, this really should not be happening on a new TV. I believe that this is a Vizio issue because I've seen reports of other models (even new ones) having this issue.
Overall, good gaming TV if you are on a budget. If mid-software and some minor bugs are a dealbreaker for you, I do advise spending a bit more on another brand TV.

Ive shopped around for a larger television with specific specifications that i wanted that wasnt going to cost me 1000 bucks. I had a 40” 4k vizio i bought for a gaming monitor and its been working great for a fews years now so i didn’t mind vizio as a brand. The specs i wanted were 4k, full array loval dimming, and 120hz refresh rate and this had all of tht for an affordable price. It has much more articulation for video settings then my 40” to tune in how i want my picture and has been looking great. I put 4 stars because a lot of time i skip reading the 5 star reviews because they dont seem believable but im very happy with this purchase. I also had it shipped to me and it arrived undamaged and on time. All around great purchasing experience.

The quality is great and the 120hz is also great. I use it as a monitor for my pc and I have found some minor problems. Out of the box it did have the option for VRR but when I enabled it in gsync every game would start up with a glitched and unplayable screen. I thought it was my nvidia drivers so I reinstalled them but nothing worked. I then decided to update the TVs firmware and the option for vrr was gone. With gsync off it was working and to be honest this tv handled lower fps in games very well. I don’t notice any lagging or screen tears. One more negative is that only 1 port has 4k 120hz.

Awesome picture with stunning color. It's hard to take your eyes off while watching a 4k movie. The picture is very clear and the color is really vivid. For the price you can't find a better TV. Sound quality is good, but Vizio makes a surround sound that matches perfect. Still all together cheaper than Samsung.

Do not buy if you have PS5!

Yes because it is advertised as 4k 120hz. And that is a big lie. Save yourself from all the headaches and get a true 4k 120hz TV. Watching movies on it? Cool thats fine. But gaming on Ps5 woth spiderman Miles Morales for example is literally unplayable. Not only does it lag, but the PS5 reads it as 1080p 48-120hz.
It is unplayable if the game can 120hz! Im telling you ive tried every solution. It still lags real bad. If you dont mind 60h, this Tv is ok.
But for those 120hz 4k fans, this aint it.
