I've already reviewed previously but since I kept the TV for reasons I'll explain below, I wanted to give my update. As I mentioned before, there are better alternatives if you have the $$$ but for the price and actual quality, picking this product is a no Brainer. The picture out of the box is OK but you can always calibrate to your liking. I played with the color settings and I'm totally happy with my picture. The black as you've probably heard is the best black aside from an oled TV. Viewing this TV in a dark room is a must. It's amazingly beautiful & I'm just talking about cable/satellite signal. Upconverts quite well. 4K movies are jaw dropping. HDR does work well with this set even though it doesn't have a wide color gamut. I've seen better HDR sets but who wants to spend thousands? This set does its job and does it well. There are only a few HDR content on Netflix and if you've upgraded your acct you'll see "ultra 4k"on them. If you go to Netflix on the included tablet though you can get to see" dolby vision" on certain movies. I picked the Do Over. Looks terrific. I'm not a gamer so I don't have any of the issues most people have when connecting a new Xbox One S & trying to play a UHD game or watch a movie UHD bluray... VUDU has alot of UHD titles but you have to pay premium cost. So to sum up... Looks great. It's definitely a 4K, Has HDR, Dolby Vision, ample hdmi inputs, nice look and nice looking stand. End result : I got it on sale for $797 & I'm very happy.

M55-D0 4k UHD TV Shadow

I bought the Vizio M55-D0 4K UHDTV. Upon delivery and setting it up, I couldn't get the settings right (or so I thought). I kept noticing a shadow on the lower left hand corner. I did research and found out that the pixels on that quadrant were burned! It's a brand new television set! I called Vizio and they asked me to provide pictures of the shadow as well as the serial number. Upon review, they promptly sent a new one, had it installed and took the damaged one away. This is above and beyond their manufacturers warranty, so I'm pleased! Now the picture is brilliant and vivid as it should have been in the first place. However, I'm more than satisfied with the replacement TV and the picture it displays.

I bought my tv a few weeks before Christmas.. I did a lot of research on TVs and brands and I decided that for my price range this was my best option and boy was i right! This tv does everything, and it's fairly easy to work. It is a flat screen so if you want "booming" sound then you will need to buy a sound bar but for me and my son this is perfect.

This tv is awesome, with 2180p resolution and HDR the picture quality is great, but the sound can use some amplifying. I use to watch 4K movies and to play on my Xbox One S.

Thoroughly enjoying this Vizio. The picture is amazingly sharp and clear; colors are vibrant. One of the reasons for purchasing it is because a family member bought a Vizio a few years ago, and has been very pleased with its performance and gave a good recommendation. Good value for the price.

We've had this TV for 6 weeks and it's just great! We got it for our bedroom and these Vizio M-Series TV's are the best! The picture is beautiful, the tablet remote is awesome! And I love that you can cast from any smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

I recently bought a New Vizio Smart Tv from BestBuy because my Sharp Aqous had developed Green Pixelated Lines through the picture.
I am still learning about the TV since this is my First Smart Tv.
One thing I am Not Happy with is that the GeekSquad Tech did Not Bundle all the Cables Neatly as to Not Present Eye sore when looking at the TV itself.
Also the Main Remote is an actual small Tablet computer which is a Neat Idea.

The Vizio TV was great for several months. Now it's unwatchable.
Unfortunately, 3/4 of the screen is now dark. I called Vizio, but since the TV is just barely out of warranty (13 months) there is no support.
No grace period. Nothing. Their only offer was a discount on a new TV.
I've learned my lesson.
Do not buy Vizio. Ever.
With a little research I now know that Vizio sells "disposable" TVs. They're not cheap -- this was almost $1,000 and very much in line with competitor's prices.
If i can help anyone to avoid purchasing there products I will feel some vindication.

Most things about this TV are perfect. I'm impressed by the picture - the quality, the black levels, the colors in HDR and even without... I really only have 2 complaints - the tablet and the speakers. I like the idea of a tablet as the main remote a lot and the execution is usually decent but it's not without its issues. It sometimes loses connectivity to the TV and will show as off even though it's on. The only way I've found to resolve it is to turn it off with the other remote, then turn it back on with the tablet. Sometimes casting can be a pain too. Since the tablet isn't very big it's sometimes difficult to be precise when trying to select something to cast. All in all, it's not enough to make me want to take it back, not even close, but I am considering invested in a larger tablet in hopes that it will be easier to use when casting, though I don't expect it to help with connectivity at all. The speakers are pretty terrible. You can't really expect all the much anymore since TVs are so thin; it really limits the speaker size. That being said, I've certainly had better sounding speakers in smaller, thinner, and cheaper TVs. I bought a sound bar a day later so that isn't an issue anymore, prepare yourself for that though because you'll probably want one too...

I give this Vizio 5 starts for having a beautiful picture, nice HDR, and having a good range of inputs. For the TV specs I think it's a great value. It connects easily with other casting devices in my home (cell phone, computer).
Only miss on this TV is the remote. It's a basic Android tablet, which as as far as it goes works fine, but the interface with the TV is a little buggy. The casting function for apps like Netflix, PBS kids, and Google Home works a little erratically, leaving you to press extra buttons, close and reopen the apps, or reset the remote's connection to the TV. It's not a deal breaker, but I would recommend getting a basic Roku just for sake of ease controlling the smart TV functions.
Otherwise a great set for its price.

The Vizio M series is a great option for the "normal" consumer. Most everyone are receiving their content through a device that supports HDMI, so the lack of a built in tuner only means that it saved me a couple hundred dollars by removing something I wasn't going to use.
Picture: Quality is good, this model is the VA display panel, or vertically aligned. This translated to good black levels and nice colors when being viewed head on or slightly off center.
Sound: For being built in speakers is also better than I expected it would be. The speakers in this 55 inch are actually a higher wattage than the larger 60 inch model (15watt vs 10).
Control: The included android tablet works well once you've figured out the user interface. Again, not a big issue when you figure that more often than not you'll be using the remote for your cable/sattilite box. Bonus, there is a small "dumb" remote that can be used for power on/off and input selection, meaning you may never use the tablet.
Overall: Are there better tv's out there? Absolutely. Are they worth 4-6 times the price? That's up to you. With 64 zones of local dimming, HDR, 4K, and plenty of HDMI inputs, this television checks all of the boxes without breaking the bank.

Ok tv, bad viewing angles.

If you are viewing this TV directly from the front its a good TV, but if you are moving around the room much i would consider a different model. Not only do the colors shift quite fast off angle, but blooming appears as well (pics below).
The best part of the TV is the interface, i know its a preference thing but i love chromecast functionality and this is the same thing with 4k capability. I never opened the tablet, im just using my android phone with the vizio smart cast app installed. Remember guys the smart cast app is basically only there for fine tuning settings, i highly recommend if you get this TV to just use the standalone apps for casting (netflix, youtube, hulu etc).
The speakers are barely acceptable, if you get this TV home and are wondering why its so quiet you need to turn on "volume leveling" in the settings, this boosts dialogue volume quite a bit. Its fine for a bedroom, but it will 100% need a soundbar in a normal sized living room imo.
If you are sure you are going to be doing the vast majority of your viewing straight on this TV is worth saving 300 dollars from the P series it has very similar black levels straight on.
Pics below are netflix casting screen, first one is from an angle second one is straight on (of course with active LED's enabled in both shots). Its really fascinating how bad the blooming is from an angle but disappears when viewed straight on, the P55 i owned prior did not have this issue.

Vizio M-Series with SmartCast

I have been a fan of Samsung televisions for the longest time but after a recent issue with a 2.5 year plasma where the cost to repair was as much as I paid for the TV I decided to research another brand. In the end it came down to either an LG or Vizio. I choose Vizio based on the many positive reviews I read. So far I have been happy with my choice.
The picture quality of the M-Series is very good, though I must admit, even with HDR, not as dynamic as my Samsung 4K set in my living room. Set up was a breeze. I had read that some had issues connecting the M-Series to their home network and a harder time using the included Android tablet. I did not have any problems. SmartCast replaces apps on the SmartTV by streaming content from the Android tablet (or other mobile device if you choose to download the Vizio App) to the TV. It works most of the time. I have had Netflix content freeze causing me to restart the app on the tablet. Also, the buffering of content may cause a muddiness to the picture for a few seconds before you receive a clear HD or 4K picture. I can not speak of the sound quality as I use a surround sound system.
Video games look great and live sports (just watched the Summer Games) were impressive.
All in all, I have been very satisfied and would easily recommend.

This 4k tv has a ton of great features. It supports HDR as well as Dolby Vision which makes it future proof. But if you're a gamer you may not like it so much. It has excelllent black levels even close to OLED black, but sometimes it carries into shadows more than it should. And it has a strange gradient coloring that sometimes you can see in 4k video. The upscaler isn't great either but if you tinker with the colors you can get a pretty good picture. It's a little hard to get proper bright levels since it seems like it's under a light filter that makes everything look a little brighter than it should. Ultimately it's not gonna give you as crisp of a picture as a Sony , LG or Samsung but it will get you a satisfying picture. Just keep in mind the remote doesn't do much as they aimed at electronic access so using your phone can be better but also more annoying for some including the initial setup. All in all it's a nice tv with great features.

I've had the tv for anout 1 1/2 months now and havent had any issues with it. It has a great picture and the darks are really dark so the picture is very vivid. The only issue i have is with this remote that comes with the tv. It has a small memory and after a few days i had to delete apps nefore i could download anything. Chromecast works great. Overall I'm very pleased.

I've been using this 4K TV for a several months now and I don't regret my decision at all. With the included tablet remote and perfect function with other devices, taking full advantage of this TV hasn't been difficult and has been more than satisfactory. I've easily and quickly noticed the difference in the picture quality of a movie, or while playing a game, compared to when I saw or played it last on a 1080p HD TV. This thing has a handful of HDMI and USB ports, as well as other audio/visual ports, plays with HDR color, AND comes with Chromecast built in. I literally don't want or need anything more out of a TV. I did not run into these issues, but want to keep the word going out there that my only caution to anyone is not particular to this 4K TV model, but if you're considering buying any kind of 4K TV to make sure you get one 50" or larger (preferably larger) especially if you sit 10+ feet from the screen; and that any devices playing/streaming can do so in 4K as well as the HDMI cable connecting them (and if you're streaming it that you have the proper amount of bandwidth from your network). 4K with HDR and other features is incredible, but every piece of tech running the data has to be able to keep the quality as it passes it on until you see the image on your screen. Aside from that forewarning about 4K purchases in general, I could not have asked for more from this model, and the price was shocking, too (a cheap shocking, not expensive shocking).

This TV has been amazing in every way except for one. Great picture quality, beautiful colors, (can’t really speak to sound as we are using a sound bar), and works great with all the different things we have connected - 4K Roku, Blu-Ray Player, etc.
The one gripe is the tablet remote. It is constantly losing connection to the TV and is very clunky!

I have now had this TV for almost 6 months. I have collected my thoughts and can thoroughly recommend this to anyone in the market for a new 4K home theater display. The picture quality rivals that of more expensive brands but instead of packing in smart TV functions, the M 55 offloads those features to the built in Smart cast and included android tablet remote. I have used both Amazon/Netflix 4K HDR streaming and a PS4 Pro for 4K HDR gaming and the tv holds up extremely well. Colors are vibrant and sharp only when compared to an OLED would you be able to notice a difference. Streaming is very simple using the built in SmartCast feature though it is much better when used on my iPhone than the included tablet. The tablet is nice enough but it's inconvenient if you already have a smart device in your pocket. The included standard remote is simple and gets the job done also. Overall a very high quality display that supports both 4K HDR formats after firmware updates and handles everything thrown at it. My only gripe would be the included stand is so wide it barely fits on any entertainment center so plan on wall mounting it!

I have always had Vizio TV's. They have the best quality at their price point and each one has gotten progressively better. Unfortunately I've been having problems with this TV's smart features. When they work they are great to have, built in chrome cast has all but eliminated the need for a set top box (fire tv). Unfortunately, I experience connectivity issues practically every time the TV is restarted, leaving them unusable. This almost always means walking through the setup process to reconnect (until the next time). Hopefully Vizio fixes this and I can move this to five stars.
In short: Great value, picture and performance, not ready to replace the smart set top box yet
