So far I'm enjoying this TV. I do notice the dimming zones and it's pretty obvious with white content on a black background. Also this TV doesn't actually support Dolby Vision with my Xbox so that's pretty annoying. Honestly if you are debating, I might would go with TCL's 6 series with more dimming zones. But still a great TV

TCL Panel Lottery all over again

On my second television. First had three or four noticeable dark zones causing significant uniformity issues. Network adapter which was directly hooked up to my router could not obtain a good enough bandwidth to play 4K HDR content. On my second TV...panel is worse. Horrible noticeable banding, light bleed, and extremely laggy local dimming causing shadows to trail behind moving bright objects. Local dimming feature is essentially unusable on my second set. Probably going to return for the TCL...if I'm going to get banding and Dirty Screen Effect issues, I might as well pay $100 less.

This tv has local zone dimming which really helps the HDR and Dolby Vision shine. I was looking for a set to go in my home office across from the desk. It's got a good picture, nice features, and some Alexa integration. If you are torn between 55 and 65 I'd say the 65 would likely be better, as there are more zones for driving the HDR and Dolby Vision.

What a great TV! I went through four of a different brand and every single one of them had issues, but my first Vizio has been excellent. Colors are spot on and HDR is nice and bright. I do have one issue and that is that the relatively small number of dimming zones can lead to some cases of blooming with bright things in front of darker backgrounds. I don't see it regularly so I hope its something Vizio can tune with firmware. Other than that I am very happy.

So I had gone through about 6 different TVs before buying this one and it better than the Sony, Samsung and LG lcd led tvs I brought home and did not like. So to be fair all of the TVs I tried all did something better than then the other, but they all had there issues that I couldn't live with being very ocd and picky. So with that said I will say the Vizio had the best black levels out of the Sony, LG and Samsung, the Samsung had better color but wasn't worth $1800 since this tv was just as good in every other aspect for only $900. So overall this tv is awesome! If you get a good one, after a long weekend of watching movies and playing games I was happy that I found a tv I could be happy with but I was unfortunately disappointed when I started having backlight flickering and dimming issues and a cluster of dead pixels in the center of the screen. At this point I had been back and forth to Best Buy trying all these different TVs that I wasn't happy with I was over it and I shelled out the extra money and got an LG OLED and I couldn't be happier I did, I should have gone OLED in the first place. That's just my experience so if anyone does decide to buy this tv I wish you luck and hope you don't run into any issues bc if you don't you will have a great looking 4K HDR TV

This is a great 4K tv with all necessities: 120hz panel, various hdr standards, local dimming and wide color gamut. Pros: Brightness. It can reach up to 1000 nits which is insane for a tv at this price. Hdr really pops as intended. If a tv is no brighter than 600 peak, the hdr will only feels washed out. Color calibration. Out of the box the color is accurate and needs minimum tweaking. This is a huge plus for average customers. Local dimming. With it, this tv can reach some awesome bright dark contrast. Although it only has 56 zones (mine is 55 inch), they really work great without obvious blooming. Build quality: not flimsy, panel quality is solid as well. Slight Vignette on corners but unifomity is great. Cons: Laggy OS. The tv OS is sometimes slow to respond. If you have a console or a tv sticker, you are fine. Viewing angle. This tv including all other tvs with VA panel have this problem. Color will shift slightly if not directly in front of the tv but in real world it's not that scary. Sound quality. The speaker of this tv is bland and mushy. A basic 2.0 sound bar is recommended. for the people struggling with this tv and TCL 6 series: TCL has better brightness and more dimming zone in paper. I compared with them side by side only found that thanks to Vizios better color calibration and better dimming algorithms, tcl does not feel as pop as vizio. Plus, you don't risk playing panel lottery with TCL at least for this year or before they upped their game in QA. Overall, this tv ticks all the boxes for a real 4K HDR experience.

After reading reviews and previous experience with vizio tvs I was expecting something much better. The bottom left corner backlight seems to be brighter then the rest of the set and the back light seems to lag behind the image in panning images which results in a flicker . it's even toticable when playing the on board store demo. With videos with lighter tones this issue is even more prevalent and a noticeable dirty scree effect with panning images. when runningetting the local dimming test used by RTINGS the separation between zones is extremely noticeable and a dark vertical is noticeably present resulting in more flashing. bloom is also very bad. was very excited at the price point of this TV but wish I had my old m50 back. I should note that I have already exchanged this model unit for another which displayed similar issues.

Big Step Backward From Past P-Series Models

Love the new price point on this year's models, but sadly, performance and QA have taken a major hit. Having used both a 2014 P55 and a 2016 P65 previously and quite liked them, my P55 in comparison suffers from some major issues, including significant edge-clouding and backlight bleed, extremely noticeable local-dimming, and HDMI issues. Edge clouding and bleed results in noticeably dull colors and increased black levels around the edges of the set (up to a about a foot into the screen on each edge), while the the dramatic cut in local dimming zones (about half of last year's models) results in much less effective local dimming, and very obvious zone switching (you can occasionally also see the actual LEDs in certain bright white scenes). The new God of War in HDR mode looks terrible with local dimming on, with very obvious zone switching and flashlighting as you pan the camera around. The first HDMI port also appears to have issues with HDR content, occasionally losing picture and requiring a reboot. Though far less of an issue, the built in apps are also rather sluggish. Given the more positive reviews below, I'm assuming my set is defective, but given the overall cuts in performance to this years' sets, I'll be switching to a different brand. Big disappointment from a prior fan of Vizio TVs!

This TV is wonderful. The colors leave nothing to be wanted and the local dimming provides deep blacks. Display: 5/5 for the price. Smart Features: 3/5. The TV comes loaded with a predefined set of apps. You cannot download more. Instead, you must use a computer or smartphone to ChromeCast to the TV. It has Netflix and amazon video, so that is enough for me. However, all of the built in applications on the TV ran somewhat slowly. This shouldn't be a concern to most people, but I am particular about responsive user-interfaces. If you are accustomed to a computer with an SSD or a newer smartphone, you will probably want to add an external device (Roku or Fire stick) that will surely be more responsive.

I went to Best Buy right after Black Friday to get a new 4K UHD TV. I didn't want one of the cheap Doorbuster Tv. I picked up the LG SK8000 55" for $699 which was a good deal I thought. The picture was great but the Edge Lit Display was TERRIBLE! So I exchanged that for this Vizio P Series 55" 4K UHD Tv and the P Series is WAY BETTER than the Lg SK8000 55" Pros of the P Series: - nice bright display - Great colors - Nice Clear And Amazing Picture Quality that competes with QLED TVs for half the price. - Built in Chromecast is a Plus - I love the build of the P Series 2018 TVs. - Non-existing Bezel on top and sides with a tiny sliver of silver at the bottom. - 5 HDMI PORTS! - Best TV in this price Range by far! - Full Array Dimming - Bright colors deep blacks Cons of the P Series : - Smartcast is a little sluggish but is nice especially when you cast stuff to your tv. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this TV to anyone looking for an AMAZING 4K UHD Tv for an amazing affordable price! Defiantly beats ALL the competitors which are a lot more exspensive with less features. I always get Vizio TVs but this P Series 2018 55" is the best TV I have owned!

Great upgrade from a 1080p TV

I had a M-Series 1080p 55" TV I replaced with this one. When playing games and 4K movies you can notice a big difference in clarity. It might be my Xbox One X that had the problem but I had to try multiple HDMI ports until the Xbox read that HDR was available. Might not be the TV's fault. 4 Stars is given because despite the 56 Local dimming zones I notice a lot of bleed still. But its hardly anything to make it a bad TV. The Smartcast ability is nice, and it has the basic smart TV apps preloaded on it. Netflix, Amazon Prime, You Tube, etc. Another complaint I have is no matter if its connected by wi-fi or hardline ethernet, the connection is slow. I have 200 MB's internet and it only gets about 22 MB's on hardline connection. The connection is not constant enough to enjoy 4K on the smartcast built in features. However, when I plug in a Amazon Fire TV with 4K, it streams wireless faster and at full 4K from the start. But long story short, even 1080P movies look better and clearer on this, so you don't need to rebuy all your blu-rays.

Great TV with a nice price tag

After reading a few reviews on a few different models and brands I decided to settle on the Vizio P series 55" model. The picture is fantastic. It has deep blacks, has local dimming, a native 120hz panel. The picture looks great out of the box but once you calibrate it the picture is even better! I haven't noticed much more than some very minor blooming or and haven't noticed any screen effect watching NHL. While the picture is fantastic this TV does have some drawbacks. First the sound is bad and I mean really bad. Most modern 4K TVs have poor sound quality but this set is extremely poor so I recommend a sound bar. The second issue is the operating system and apps. Both are very sluggish and some are outdated and there is no way for you to download more but you can use Google Chromecast. The preinstalled apps don't support everything the TV does. For example the Vudu app will play Dolby Vison HDR format but display the image in 1080p rather than 4k. I would recommend getting a streaming device like Roku. One other issue is gaming. I had some issues with the HDMI ports and the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X both getting black flickering screens, especially in HDMI 2, which I believe states it is the best port. I was able to get everything connected without any flickering by changing the settings on both the PS4 pro and swapping HDMI ports which was initially annoying. I will say it has a low input lag and haven't noticed any lagging while gaming. I think the issue had to do with the PS4 Pros signal output and the TV. Also while the Xbox one x states it will play Dolby vision content it thinks the TV supports an older version so don't count on anything other than HDR 10 from the system. Besides the minor issues I mentioned the TV is worth the money. I lucked out by having won a panel lottery as I have no vertical banding or DSE. Note that with all FALD panels the corners of the tv will appear a little darker but mine is very minor and hardly ever notice it unless I look for it intentionally. I included an image of standard 1080p image from VIOS after the tv being calibrated for reference.

This is a Great TV for the price which was on sale. I am moving from a recent mid-range Vizio. I think this outshines it in nearly every way. From looks, to performance, features and finally value, For starters, I like the look and design. It is a fresh, sleek, and metallic bezel-less appearance on three sides. It is a very modern edge-to-edge, yet not over-the-top look. Beyond the looks, it comes with quite a few connection options. Further, all 5 HDMI ports support 2.0a which help with 4K HDR connectivity. Another nice feature is built-in ATSC tuners. Once you are up and running (set-up is an easy process), you get a look at that picture. The picture is clear, crisp, bright, and detailed while the colors are brilliant, pop and are both rich and alive. It is a VA panel, so there is a little distortion when at extreme viewing angles. The TV also has full array local dimming. It is not perfect, but it is much better than edge and nice to have at this price point. Beyond that, they offer something they call Ultra Color Spectrum which brings more accurate color detail and a wider range of the color spectrum. The picture. 4K content is out of this world. Details, colors, blacks all look outstanding. There are countless options and calibration settings to fine tune everything. I spent a great deal time of time here, but I think it is time well spent. You can absolutely get the most out of your purchase/experience. The speakers are acceptable. I connected a sound bar to TV excellent sound. Ultimately, I really like this TV. Most importantly, it has a great picture, I would recommend this to a friend
