We traded in the Samsung tv for this tv color is great and sound works. I hate that the sound is low on new TVs but this model is much better than the Samsung model we had.

Nice picture quality. Design is also good that fits in my living room well. Sounds are a little thin and user interface is not very intuitive so usually takes me more steps to get where I want but overall it's a very nice TV.

Very bad sound. The whole platform looks like it was thrown together, doesn't flow at all. Bought this to replace a Samsung, needless to say I bought another Samsung when this was returned. All in all good picture but just didn't "wow" me.

Good picture. Now I know why you don't turn the sound up at the showroom. Had to purchase a sound bar for 700 to make it right. Pain to take back so I just purchased new sound.

I wasn't expecting much but I can say I was completely blown away with this tv. On price and picture quality this TV blows away its competition. The only downsides I can see is the audio ( most tv manufactures are guilty of this) is atrocious, like you NEED a sound bar bad, and the interface is terrible. It's slow and buggy sometimes when switching inputs the tv completely freezes it will correct it self but it's still annoying

Awesome picture, but the picture goes in and out on my Xbox. The screen turns black then the sound goes out and then it comes back on. Tried to find a solution and couldn't find one. It's not my HDMI cord or connection to the Xbox. It's the t.v.

Vizio P Series 2018 Best Budget 4K HDR TV

Just love this tv For the price it has way better color and HDR. I don't have to deal with poor screen clouding and difformity issues that my TCL 6 series had I had to return 3 of the panels and gave up and decided to give Vizio a try and I'm so glad I did! Pros: Great for watching 4k movies and HDR content Excellent wide color gamut video games look stunning in 4k HD and 4K HDR this panel gets very brite and blacks are deep black inky and whites are very white. Excellent Local Dimming Cons: Sound is not good recommend sound bar! Conclusion: When it comes to gaming this tv blows away even my Sony XBR 900F in both HD and HDR games like God Of War on the PS4 Spider-Man and Horizon Zero Dawn HDR gameplay it's perfect IMO. 4K Movies and HDR content is fabulous. Highly recommended and for such a low price it's a steal $$

I recently closed on a house and was looking for a solid TV with good picture, especially for movies. I recently had the LG Uj series and was nervous this wouldn't be as good, but wow it's so much better! The local dimming is such an improvement from the LG models! For those who don't know, that is the uniformity of the black colors during dark scenes. With my LG you could see where the back lighting was turned off except for the little lighting on the screen which caused a huge gray mesh on the tv, with my new vizio, the entire screen looks so much more uniform! I wanted a tv that looked great playing 4K and movies and this is definitely the tv to go with! The only draw back is the sound is not the best but it's not terrible either. Just get a cheaper $100 sound bar and you're golden.

@@@@@@@@ We got 55" panel for ~$750 total right when it launched. Keep that in mind. @@@@@@@ This is our first 4K, and it's a great upgrade under $1000. Built-n interface is slow, but I prefer to use Roku or AppleTV anyways, so it doesn't bother me much. Text on the screen is crisp, and video keeps motion blurring to tolerable levels. 4:4:4 on this helps with computer usage, so that makes it a valuable panel for me. Sound is no good, but besides TCL, I don't know what else would match this for price to quality ratio. Given the price we paid, the time we bought it at, and it checking the right boxes... this is a solid panel I'd recommend at or below $750 total in mid-2018.

This tv has very deep blacks, and the colors in the picture look so bright and vibrant. The 4k picture looks crystal clear. I own an Xbox one x, and a PS4 pro console. They both look fantastic on this tv. I have had a lot of experience with TV's within the last 15 years. Been threw the Samsung QLED series 6 had problem with that tv a Sony 900e with in a year. The Vizio p series had better picture than both of those brands of TV's. And if you like smooth motion with game mode on you will really enjoy this tv. The only thing that I don't like on the tv is the sound quality isn't that great but, hey get a sound bar. But one thing you should always do when you buy a new TV is get the extra warranty well worth it. You won't be disappointed in this tv. The tv is comparable to the 900f from Sony, and the Samsung 8 serious qled. Nothing beats Vizio price, and quality of a product.

It's a nice TV for the price. I'm still trying to dial in the picture colors are the presents that are available are not to my suiting. This is the first TV I've had to work to this extent to get right. The number of HDMI ports is great. The design is similar to my OLED TV, with the thin bezel. I would have preferred a central pedestal instead of the two outboard feet. I'm using this in my bedroom and the old TV was on top of a narrow width dresser. I'm going to have to mount this on the wall, eventually. The major complaint I've is the sound is quite disappointing. The "surround" sound makes the sound seem like it's coming out of a tin can and sounds better with the feature turned off, though I find myself adjusting the levels a lot to hear voices. I've already set it back up with the sound bar I was using with the previous TV. I'ven't played around with the voice assistant features much yet so I can't comment on those.

I purchased this TV after reading about TVs in general on rtings. I'd highly suggest you go there prior to buying a TV. With that said, here's what I think after using the TV for about three weeks: Pros: - The TV seems nicely built in general. - It is an enormous upgrade over the old 1080p TV I had in terms of picture quality, especially in the way the local dimming can get the darks much closer to black and it gets much brighter to boot. - Five HDMI inputs is fantastic, and the low latency port is great for game consoles. - There are a ton of menu options available to customize each input to what works best for you. - The included smart apps work well and navigating between them is relatively easy. The fact that chromecast is built into the TV makes it relatively easy to use other apps that aren't native on the TV. - I've had no issues streaming 4k HDR content on Netflix or Amazon Video, so the hardware and software package keeps up with the demands of the stream. Cons: - The sound that comes out of this TV is mediocre. I'd recommend an external speaker setup of some sort. - The "watchfree" feature that Vizio recently added to their televisions is not very good. While perusing a selection of channels, they generally looked to be broadcast in 480p and video at less than 720p looks bad on this TV. - I'd prefer a stand that is a little less wide than the one that comes with this TV, as it reduces the options you've got for platforms. The included stand is quite sturdy, though.

I extensively researched 2018 TVs and ultimately settled on this model for various reasons. For the average and even more finnicky user, this TV will definitely impress at its price point. The frame and legs are metal and of good quality with good quality plastic for the back and bottom. The audio is poor as expected and the speakers face the rear to promote more real estate for the near bezel-less screen. The user interface was actually better than I was led to believe by most online reviews of this set. It was decently smooth and presented no issues as to the function, navigation, and presentation. Setup was easy and the multiple inputs for HDMI are nice. The resolution and performance of this set were very high and definitely impressive. www.rtings.com does an excellent job detailing the finer points of this TV's performance and display quality so I won't get into that here. What I will touch on is my only concern that is great enough to cause me to ultimately end up returning this model, not because it is a bad tv, but because my specific set had a flaw I am unable to live with. This flaw involves horizontal glitch or distortion lines that will flicker across the screen in various random places at random times on any input or picture mode, but will do so most frequently either right after turning the TV on or a few minutes into whatever is being displayed and then randomly after that. I called Vizio support and followed all their recommended procedures for remedying the issue, involving a power cycle, factory reset, and even leaving all the picture settings on the default factory setting under "Vivid" picture mode with their recommended settings. Nothing corrected the flickering lines. I won'te that I cannot determine if this is a hardware or firmware/software issue and upon initial setup of the TV, I did download and update the latest firmware updates to the TV, which I regret doing because I was not able to properly test this TV for the defect before the update to determine if it was the update itself that did this. So after weeks of testing, this was the only perceivable flaw I could find in this model I could not live with, so I will be returning this TV for an exchange. If I encounter this issue after the second and third exchanges, then I will update this review and lower my score as this is a deal breaking flaw in my opinion that Vizio seems to largely be determined to remain "unaware" of, which is pretty sad as this looks like a simply software fix. Bottom line, awesome TV for the price if you can live with minor flaws or can find a set without these irritating horizontal flickering lines.

A month in. Let me start of by saying I own two other TVs, one is a $4300 Sony 70in and another a $2500 LG. Both TVs have very high ratings at Best Buy and RTing. Now to the Vizio. I was looking for a TV the wife and I can enjoy and wasn't our go-to entertainment system. This TV has impressed me from the start, the blacks are comparing near OLED levels of my LG and picture detail and clairity is near perfect compared to the Sony. I was able to get it at a very good price during the Labor Day sale and it has been worth every penny. Let's talk about the application and UI(user interface). I am amazed so many people are complaining of a slow response and application taking a long time to load. Coming from a very high end tv comparison the noticeable lag is almost not there, I am not sure what reviewing are expecting and what they are comparing this to because I would love to get a hold of that tv which they are referencing. The SmartCast application is very handy, you download the app and replaces the remote control. Power, volume, channel, setting etc. all can be controlled with the app. A note to Vizio, please add backlighting to your handheld remote. The audio on this tv isn't so great but almost nobody now days uses the build in audio for their entertainment system. A $170 Vizio soundbar any other soundbar/surround would solve this issue. I don't see this as reason to give this tv anything less than 5 star. Cheers!

After reading a few reviews on a few different models and brands I decided to settle on the Vizio P series 55" model. The picture is fantastic. It has deep blacks, has local dimming, a native 120hz panel. The picture looks great out of the box but once you calibrate it the picture is even better! I haven't noticed much more than some very minor blooming or and haven't noticed any screen effect watching NHL. While the picture is fantastic this TV does have some drawbacks. First the sound is bad and I mean really bad. Most modern 4K TVs have poor sound quality but this set is extremely poor so I recommend a sound bar. The second issue is the operating system and apps. Both are very sluggish and some are outdated and there is no way for you to download more but you can use Google Chromecast. The preinstalled apps don't support everything the TV does. For example the Vudu app will play Dolby Vison HDR format but display the image in 1080p rather than 4k. I would recommend getting a streaming device like Roku. One other issue is gaming. I had some issues with the HDMI ports and the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X both getting black flickering screens, especially in HDMI 2, which I believe states it is the best port. I was able to get everything connected without any flickering by changing the settings on both the PS4 pro and swapping HDMI ports which was initially annoying. I will say it has a low input lag and haven't noticed any lagging while gaming. I think the issue had to do with the PS4 Pros signal output and the TV. Also while the Xbox one x states it will play Dolby vision content it thinks the TV supports an older version so don't count on anything other than HDR 10 from the system. Besides the minor issues I mentioned the TV is worth the money. I lucked out by having won a panel lottery as I have no vertical banding or DSE. Note that with all FALD panels the corners of the tv will appear a little darker but mine is very minor and hardly ever notice it unless I look for it intentionally. I included an image of standard 1080p image from VIOS after the tv being calibrated for reference.

Luckily Vizio decided to release the new P series tv around the time I was shopping. I was replacing an 9 year old Vizio that was lost in my home due to a thunderstorm and subsequent lightning strike close by my home. Up to that time my Vizio performed flawlessly and was my first experience and a positive one with the brand. I was cross shopping the q6 QLED Samsung as well as the NU8000 Samsung. After reading numerous reviews and viewing all 3 TVs in the store simultaneously, I went ahead with the 55 P55-F1 Vizio. My main reasons were due to it having a true 120hz refresh rate vs the Samsung 60hz which they try to claim as a 120hz. To be fair Vizio also markets their's as 240 but its 120. I wish all manufacturers would stop playing games with the true refresh rates on these sets. Our main TV is a Plasma Panasonic ST60 which still produces an amazing picture. So far in fast action scenes and sports I have not noticed any judder/lag. I do have motion blur reduction settings on. Very happy in this aspect. I didn't want any motion blur issues with the new tv for my office so the 120hz was a big factor for me in this purchase. Next is the brightness and the color on this set. The samsung Q6 had a great picture as well, but the brightness on this set in the store just appeared better to my eyes. Now overall I think the Q8 Qled would be fantastic, but way beyond the $1,000 price point I wanted to spend. So far in my home the blacks appear to be very good for the LCD sub 1,000 price point. It still isn't as ink deep as my Plasma Panasonic, but comparing LCDs Ive been accustomed to this gets pretty darn close and for my amateur eyes appears just fine. Local dimming appears to work as well. They tout 120 dimming zones and I didn't notice a huge issue compared to my old Samsung LCD upstairs that is over 10 years old. Again technology is amazing. Finally the features are great. Short of the TCL, this TV combines Dolby Vision, HDR10, 4K UHD along with it's smart apps at an unbeatable price. Other reviews here and online talk about the vizio interface lacking. I'm not sure why? It has all the main apps I frequently use ( netflix, hulu, youtube). All of them startup quickly and without issue. The wifi connectivity is pretty decent overall. My home wifi signal is weak downstairs and the TV has had some issues connecting and getting a signal, but as soon as I connected it to ethernet, performance has not been an issue. Shows load very quickly. I'll update my review after I put in a range extender if there are still wifi connecting issues. Dolby vision movies/ shows on Netflix so far have been superb. Only 1 of them appeared grainy and I think that has more to due with the network vs the TV. All others have look stunning. Design- Looks great in the office. Bezel-less frame and nice chrome on the bottom which gives it an upscale look. The stand is basic and elegant with metal legs. I didn't think I would watch much 4k, but after having so much content on Netflix, its amazing how great the picture is. Watching standard HD is almost disappointing now. Cons: Sound-- pretty much all the new flat LCD's suffer from this. I'll get a sound-bar at some point. Remote- Pretty flimsy. Again not a huge deal as I mainly use my Xfinity remote. Overall. . I think this tv is going to be a great value for the year. I was the first one to buy one at my local store and have been very pleased to get the latest from Vizio. For the price you get so much in the way of picture and features. Their quality seems to be fantastic and hopefully will last me as long as my previous Vizio TV did.
