I bougt this TV with more doubts than conviction that it was gonna be good for gaming or have a great picture quality than the famed TCL 6 series. I have not owned the TCL but Rtings claimed this was better overall. So i chose this since i own a ps4 pro and would be mostly using it for gaming. Believe me i was more than impresed with its display and awesome picture quality. 4k videos looks like its gonna pop outta the screen. Its refresh rate makes gaming superb and fluid but to get that fluidity you will neet to use Rting settings. The smartcast os is slow and not really the best. Not overall bad though. This is a great TV for its price and will do better than any under 1000$ branded TV for sure.

I was torn when my Samsung curved had a dark shadow in the middle of the screen so I went on a TV hunt. I started by buying the Hisense H9 plus and it was terrible! Too bright, hdr wasn’t even there , just a bad bad tv. Exchanged it 5 days later for the TCL 6 Series , wow what a difference, great interface but the screen had the “dirty effect “ soccer games were hard to watch. It was also a bit dark . Finally I went ahead and exchanged that one for the 55 p series and this is the CLEAR winner. The HDR is phenomenal, easy to calibrate and wow , beautiful with video games with no lag. The only drawback is the smart tv functions. So bad , very laggy. I just use Netflix on it and everything through my Xbox one x . Overall , amazing TV . Happy I got to try all 3 out . Also. GET THE WARRANTY!!!

    Best Budget TV for gaming/movies

After extensive research online, I had narrowed my TVs down to the Sony x900f and the Vizio P-55-f1 . After reading hundreds of reviews, and multiple stat websites, I decided to give the Vizio a go, as the price difference ultimately gifted me a free reciever. I can't lie, I am so thankful I did. My friend owns an x900f and going back and forth, you can hardly tell a difference in picture quality aside from the fact the sony deals with glare better. Color quality, dimming g, motion, detail- it was all pretty much the exact same. If you buy the tv simply for its smart features, you probably won't be satisfied. All the reviews saying the software is sluggish is kind of true, however, I don't understand people's complaints about the connection speed. I was able to watch netflix in 4k at 20mb/s with no issues whatsoever. If you do end up scooping this TV I highly recommend using the post calibration settings for the P-65-F1 from rtings.com! Watching Planet Earth on 4k ultra Blu-ray has literally blown my mind. Why even go to a Zoo when it looks this good... Lastly, paired with my PS4 Pro, I've never enjoyed gaming on a console like this before. The details in FIFA are so overwhelming I can't believe everything I was missing. Red Dead Redemption has taken over right now, and my friends all comment how the game looks so much better on my TV. I got the black Friday deal at 650 which was a steal, but I can assure you if you buy this at full price you will still be satisfied with your purchase, especially with the only other TVs that contend with this picture quality being 300+ dollars.

Today, I'm returning my third Vizio tv

I've now gone through three of these tv's. The first one came out of the box with the screen cracked. The second one, when playing games via hdmi 2.2 to my pc, generated a faint vertical line artifact down the middle of the screen, making viewing soul-crushingly annoying. The screen did this on my other computer AND an Xbox one, thus I can conclude that it is a defect within the set, or the way the tv compiles high refresh rate content is broken. The third one, also maintained the vertical line artifacting when playing games from any input source. It is literally the exact size, shape and color artifact as the last Vizio. No combination of tv settings could resolve this issue. Turning the brightness setting to 100 did eliminate the band, but that is not a solution, It's like staring into the sun on this tv. Different cables, input ports, nothing worked. Is it possible that I'm this unlucky?? No other tv in the house does that when hooked up to any of the above sources. No more VIzio. LG, Sony, Samsung, anything other than VIzio. The customer service guys at my Best Buy probably think I'm absolutely insane, rambling about a faint vertical line on the 3 brand new tv's I've brought back. Embarrassing. The ONLY reason why I gave it 2 stars was due to the picture quality when viewing online videos and 4k movies. It is very clear, with excellent color and lighting dynamics. I have no idea what its problem with gaming content is. I bought a 120hz monitor to utilize that speed, not watch movies @ 24hz with fake "true motion". I'll post a picture I took with my phone, displaying what I'm talking about. Screen-capping with the windows key and prnt-scn key reveals that the source does NOT have verticle distortion. The game is Senua's Sacrifice for anyone wondering.

So after owning this TV during black friday I finally want to review it. This years model is a massive improvement over last years, Better image quality, better brightness, much nicer HDR/Dolby Vision and it actually has a TV Tuner. The TVs image quality is superb, crisp 4K, extremely bright, good color, and great contrast. my only gripe is that the 55" version doesnt have nearly the same amount of dimming zones as the 65" model but it still does great. The only reason why my review is 4 star is that the software is pretty bad. Its slow, clunky, and not great to use, theres no quick launch menu and takes like 10-15 seconds to exit and give options. It does have buttons on the remote to launch apps directly but no way to put favorites (at least to my knowledge). However, once im watching what i want to watch I forget about all that and get sucked into the content which amazing on this TV. Also sports okayish voice control on the Alexa side (simple voice commands such as , Turn off/on, Volume up/down, input selection etc. Google has better control with direct app launching (like youtube or netflix, some apps dont have support yet), aswell as all the same alexa skills.

Best TV I've ever had. I have a pretty small budget but got a great deal on an open box with this tv. I'm no expert, but as a middle ground budget tv you get really great dark blacks without the huge price tag of a qled. no budget led tv will ever give you that. So vivid, my husband keeps checking to make sure the tv isn't real life... pumps out a great picture. Looked fabulous on the store wall and in my home as well. The free channels from vizio watch free and other apps are a great bonus.

Freeze, and Restart When Changing Inputs

I researched for weeks, and settled on this TV. It was between this model, the Sony X900F, or the TCL 6 series. I avoided the TCL as I read way too many reviews, and blogs concerning the panel lottery, and wanted to avoid having to return/exchange a TV. I decided on the Vizio over the Sony as the Vizio went on sale, and according to rtings.com the Sony was only slightly better picture wise. Bang for buck the Vizio was the better choice. I was reluctant to purchase the Vizio as I have been reading more, and more reviews of the TV freezing, and restarting when changing inputs. This issue has been written about, and going on for months, and I was hoping they had the issue fixed by now whether it is a hardware, or software issue. Again I decided against the TCL as I didn't want to have to return the TV. It appears I may have to do that anyways. I have apparently received a TV that has this input changing issue. The TV freezes, and takes anywhere from a minute to three minutes to restart before I can do anything with the TV. I have been reading that if I disable the CEC option in the settings this would remedy the issue, but one of the reasons I was upgrading my TV was to use the CEC option. I have tried multiple HDMI ports, I've updated the firmware, and I've factory reset the TV twice to see if the issue would resolve itself. Unfortunately this is not the case, and I'm riddled with the TV freezing/restarting several times a day; this is unacceptable from a brand new TV that costs $700+. The picture is great when viewing HDR/4k content...especially Dolby Vision! 720p, and 1080p is average if not flat looking no matter what settings I've tried. The picture is one thing, but I should be able to use the settings, and options the TV has without the TV freezing, and restarting several times a day. I can't believe out of the 120 reviews I've read on here no one has mentioned this input issue. I've seen some reviewers on reddit and AVS Forum returning their Vizio TV 2 or 3 times and having the same issue with the new ones before giving up and going with another brand. What a hassle to have to unmount, box up, and return a large 55 inch TV several times. Other reviewers mentioned the OS being clunky, or slow, but I think it's passable. I have a Samsung, and an LG which are both smart TVs with different operating systems, and I don't prefer one OS over the other; I just want them to work, and they all do. I've had this TV a week, and will decide before the return window closes whether, or not I will be returning this for the Sony. So far I'm a bit disappointed with this TV....I had high hopes, but not being able to use an option the TV offers is less than desirable.

Pros: -Great inky black levels that surpass the top of the line plasma it replaced. -Screen uniformity is pretty good - probably best for the $. -SmartCast is much better then I anticipated based on many negative reviews. -Power consumption is very low. Around 100 watts using Calibrated mode and Active Full Array on Low. Cons: -DSE (dirty screen effect) is there if you hunt for it. -Viewing angle is not great (coming from a plasma) -Ultra Color Spectrum tech leaves a little to be desired. Even the warmest setting of white balance is a bit too cool for me. -HDR & DV content doesn't quite provide the "pop" that I anticipated (at least with the recommended "Calibrated" mode). Most times I can't really tell the difference between HDR and SDR content. -Local dimming algorithm/zones could use some improvement. You can easily see the "halo" affect when watching normal content with High or Medium mode, and sometimes even on Low. High and Medium provide the most "pop" from highlights but the "halo" effect is too distracting to me. The 65" version might do a little better in this dept.

The picture quality is up there with TVs that cost a bit more. Easy to set up. The sound, however, is terrible. Really muffled. I purchased a sound bar with the set, so that takes care of the issue. My PS4 Pro runs great on it with the HDR enabled. I would definitely recommend this TV, just don’t forget a sound bar.

I've had this TV for about a month now and I think it is a great TV for the money. We owned a vizio prior to this one since 2012 with no issues. Lightning took out the hdmi board but the TV was still working. We replaced it with the p series that was just a little more than half of what we paid for the first one. Some have complained about the startup time but I would remind them that this is a smart TV and more like a very large tablet pc which needs some time to boot. The picture is very good and this model has less border around the screen than the original one we had. My only complaint with this model is that changing input is now side scrolling. I found its easier to click the input button on the remote several times than to try to use the side arrow button. This is a minor inconvenience but may result in the remote going out sooner. The only other thing is on the old TV I could hit the ok button and get a channel list that I could browse up and down but not on this model. Overall a great TV with good picture and good features.

I would definitely recommend this t.v. for video games, blu ray movies, and 4k movies. Using my ps4 (base version) and xbox one s looks fantastic on it. The tv does a good job of upscaling my 1080p content and makes it look terrific. But if you watch a lot of cable tv it will definitely lack the great picture you get from streaming netflix and hulu. Im not sure why as it could be my provider's box( i have dish and just have the hopper with sling. Thinking if upgrading will make a difference) im not sure why but it looks pretty flat of an image and definitely cuts out a lot of details when watching cable. Planet earth 2 and blue planet in 4k looks incredible on this t.v. though. So i would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade to a 4k capaple tv with true hdr. I will say the tv only has 120 hertz in the 5th hdmi with no hdr incase you think all ports will be able to do 120.

I recently upgraded our primary TV (aging Panasonic Cinema Series Plasma) which had served us well but was in serious need of retirement. There were several contenders for the replacement including higher end models from Sony, Samsung and LG. I actually was leaning towards an LG model (non OLED) based on great reviews in Sound & Vision and several other reputable sites but a recent price drop on this P Series put this model on the short list. I read very positive reviews on several highly respected AV sites including S&V which lead me to select this model. The color calibration (there are several factory presents available to use) was excellent right out of the box which was something that impressed me based on highly technical reviews and was further improved (minor adjustments) using Spears & Munsil HDTV Calibration tool to better suit the units location in my home. Overall I am very happy with this TV, the picture is excellent, there are 5 HDMI ports including a dedicated HDMI port that is setup specifically for using with a game system, the remote is easy to use but capable of doing everything a typical user needs. The TV responds easily by switching inputs as needed even when using the Apple 4K TV which is an added bonus (press a button on the Apple 4K TV remote and the P Series turns on along with our soundbar, autoswitches to the Apple 4K TV input source and even remembers to switch picture mode as needed), it also realizes and changes the picture mode based on the source input which is a great feature (Xbox is best viewed in the computer/game picture mode which also adjusts certain aspects of the picture to reduce lag). I would highly recommend this model to anyone who is seriously considering the higher end models.

Great If You Dont Use With Xbox One X & HDR

The picture quality is really nice on this model. Colors are rich and blacks are deep. Has numerous input options. The reduce motion blur and reduce judder settings work well. Smartcast is functional but, you are better off using something else. It’s clunky and slow. WatchFree was recently added as an input option. Haven’t really used it but, can’t complain about access to free content. If you plan on using this with a Xbox One X and using HDR, find a different TV. When it works HDR with XBox One X is great but, it will randomly cut out and screen will go black. Sometimes it’ll come back on in 30 sec but, sometimes you have to reboot or pull the HDMI cable. There is currently no fix for this. If you search you will see this is a common problem with Vizio TVs. Hopefully there will be a firmware fix someday.

I listened to rtings.com when researching 4K ULTRA HD TVs for under $1000, this was the #1 recommended model for the price. This is the best TV I've ever owned, I love it. I've had two 1080p models prior to this set, and the jump from 1080p to 4k is unreal. This set produces incredible colors, has a great refresh rate, and looks amazing once calibrated.

4k HDR Dolby and more. Picture is great after a few tweaks of the settings. Check out various in-depth review sites for suggestions. Was on sale for the holidays at a very good price, so for me it was worth the difference over the lower-tier models. Isn't going to look like an OLED but it's a fraction of the the price. Like most new/thin TVs, soundbar, receiver, or other external speaker is a must.

This TV is wonderful. The colors leave nothing to be wanted and the local dimming provides deep blacks. Display: 5/5 for the price. Smart Features: 3/5. The TV comes loaded with a predefined set of apps. You cannot download more. Instead, you must use a computer or smartphone to ChromeCast to the TV. It has Netflix and amazon video, so that is enough for me. However, all of the built in applications on the TV ran somewhat slowly. This shouldn't be a concern to most people, but I am particular about responsive user-interfaces. If you are accustomed to a computer with an SSD or a newer smartphone, you will probably want to add an external device (Roku or Fire stick) that will surely be more responsive.

Let me preface this review with: I have an OLED in my living room, so my standards for PQ are pretty high. Cloudy screens, light bleed, poor contrast are things I can no longer tolerate and I happy to say that the Vizio P series hits most marks. The only major flaw (with PQ) is the noticable movement of the full array backlight. In scenes with windows or a person moving in a dimly lit room, you see the zones try to keep up with the bright object. Other than that the dark areas of the screen are beautifully dark. The SmartCast UI is crap, I cannot get casting to work well, and there's no option to stream files over my network. Solid TV for the price.
