Hello Felix, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition signal. This means making sure that you're source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture setting that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room try Calibrated Dark. VIZIO

When I bought this, it was one of the few TVs under $1k that had local dimming good enough to do HDR content justice. As it has aged, the OS has gotten laggy to the point of being unusable. But, I use an Nvidia Shield so I rarely have to see it. The blooming around subtitles can be very distracting.

I'm loving the quality of the picture, it's well worth the $$. If I was a bit wealthier I would have gottan a sony 900f or oled tv but on a budget this was an outstanding buy. The smart os is really poorly done and I called geek squad for help pairing my samsung 8+ to this tv and it was a Total Waste of an hour. The person gave me 2 utube links which had Nothing to do with pairing a vizio to its mobile app. I called Vizio and although it took awhile we did get them paired but I have to refresh my phone to get it to cast to the tv, which is nuts it being 2018. So the tv has a Great picture, very black blacks, lifelike skin tones on the calibrated mode, good motion control. I'll either keep the tv and get a roku ultra or return it, not sure yet. I love to be wowed when i buy a product I'm spending hundreds of dollars on, this was a frustrating couple of days with the poor os and lack of changing or adding apps on the tv.

Fantastic Display, but has a manufacture defect, The display looks gorgeous and has lasted, but there is a well known Manufacturer defect, something appears to be wrong with the LED control board that goes bad and causes shadowing all over the display. Very common with this exact model, but otherwise the picture is great and would recommend if it didn't have a widespread manufacturer defect

Upgraded to a slightly larger screen and thought might as well go with the 4k UHD even thought there is limited true 4k content. The Visio has all the specs you would want in a 4K TV including UHD and upscaling to near 4K. Colors on the screen a vivid and sharp. I haven't noticed any "ghosting" to this point but one thing I have noticed is that occasionally there is a stuttering in the picture. Now I don't know if this is an issue with the source or the upscaling process but it is noticeable. I will play around with the settings and see if that changes anything. Problem is it does not always happen and it seems to happen at very random time. Other than that I am very impressed with the TV considering to get all these features in a comparable brand you would have to spend upwards of 50% more.

Best overall picture for the price range

My review is based on apartment living Direct TV satellite and high speed streaming. I've compared the Vizio P55 F1 to the TCL 605, LG UJ6300, Samsung NU7100, Hisense H9E plus, and TCL 615. For $699, its hands down the best of the group. I could not justify paying $200-400 more for the step up LG or Sony. I tweaked my TV using the Ratings settings and it was near perfect. Any TV is still case sensitive to the person and the room, but you will not be disappointed with this purchase. To me its all about picture and it performed from movies to sports. The 120Hz native panel makes a big difference. I do wish it had more apps, so I'd truly rate the Vizio a 4.5. I understand that most people today mount tv's to the wall, but I wish all manufacturers would include stands that were another 2" higher or incorporate adjustable stands. Whoever does it will really add another feature that expands their market. We have a living room that is all glass on one side and even angle viewing of the Vizio was not bad compared to the others. If you have a wide viewing angle, the LG is the best of the group without a doubt. I love sports and the Vizio TV exceeded my expectations. No flashlighting, dirty screen, vertical bands, etc. Just a great 4K tv for a great price. It has a ton of features to personalize your viewing experience.

    Beautiful TV

I don't have lots to add to what's been posted prior to my review (6/5/2018). I game a lot on Xbox 1. I don't yet have a 4k system to test, but let me tell you. In Game Mode, I feel zero input lag. Gaming feels as smooth as can be. I'm waiting on some good suggested picture settings, as I too am struggling to find what looks best to me and I don't care to take the time to tweak every setting. The TV is made to a very high quality and man this thing gets very bright and at the same time, so dark thanks to local dimming which works wonderfully. Yes, the smart OS is a bit laggy. I might complain about it if I commonly used apps that might be to the far end of the list. Overall, fantastic job by Vizio.

Great upgrade from a 1080p TV

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had a M-Series 1080p 55" TV I replaced with this one. When playing games and 4K movies you can notice a big difference in clarity. It might be my Xbox One X that had the problem but I had to try multiple HDMI ports until the Xbox read that HDR was available. Might not be the TV's fault. 4 Stars is given because despite the 56 Local dimming zones I notice a lot of bleed still. But its hardly anything to make it a bad TV. The Smartcast ability is nice, and it has the basic smart TV apps preloaded on it. Netflix, Amazon Prime, You Tube, etc. Another complaint I have is no matter if its connected by wi-fi or hardline ethernet, the connection is slow. I have 200 MB's internet and it only gets about 22 MB's on hardline connection. The connection is not constant enough to enjoy 4K on the smartcast built in features. However, when I plug in a Amazon Fire TV with 4K, it streams wireless faster and at full 4K from the start. But long story short, even 1080P movies look better and clearer on this, so you don't need to rebuy all your blu-rays.

Everything Vizio has said about this thing. Works well getting it hook up to the internet getting the apps to work. The picture on this thing is just , AWESOME!!!! The sound is not to bad. If you know what you are doing. Play with the EQ for a little while. Still a Sound Bar will help you out more. This Vizio does great in a bright room. Dark room this thing shines. We got a 5 year warranty. So we should be good with best buy.....

    Can’t beat the color

So my wife and I tried to take the cheap way out when buying our first 4K tv. We literally bought and returned 3 tv’s within 1 week during the Black Friday deals before buying this Vizio P series. We started out with a Samsung, then LG then a Vizio E Series, all in the $399-$549 price range, none of which came close to this Vizio P series. Yes we ended up spending $799, but the picture brightness and clarity is that of the lower end OLED TVs. Everyone has to remember the TVs at the store are hooked up to 4K programming or CD, so when you go home and hook up to your cable box or direct tv, you will lose a lot of the color, even if you spend five grand$$$ I was not even aware of this tv until the salesman showed it to us. The picture, vibrancy and 2D effect is unbeatable in the price range. After doing extensive reasearch and many trips to Best Buy, the only thing close in the price range is the Sony Bravia 55 inch 900F series and it is priced at $1400. Nothing compares in this price range. The only negative I have to mention is the setup took forever (45 mins) by the time all the apps updated. Also you have to have your home WiFi modem close buy, the tv WiFi is not that strong and will be intermittent if the modem is too far away, causing signal loss and buffering while streaming movies. So in recap for the size and price range this tv can’t be beat. The only thing comparable is the Sony Bravia 800E, but it is only a 49’ inch, the 55’inch is $1400. Sure all the $400-$500 4K tv’s are clear, but you have a hard time getting everything like clarity, vividness, color, brightness etc... all in one tv. Do yourself a favor and look for the Vizio display and watch this P Series tv on display. You will see what I mean. I would upload a photo, but it really doesn’t do it justice depending on your phone pixels.

The tuner to this year's models is a big plus. But I'm sure you want to know the quality of build on this TV is outstanding, if minimalist. I am blown away by the picture quality, it is brighter than my M55-E0 so might not be as good for some in an extremely dark (no other lights) environment. The screen is glassy so it has more reflections than 2017 M. Vibrant, rich colors almost equal to my LG C7 OLED. There is some blooming with the black engine pro turned up, but that's with any active zone TV and it's not horrible like LG or other side lit TV. Slot of TV for the money, I tried 4 other's before this totally satisfied me.

Not a smart TV, a smart phone display more like it

I went out and bought this TV after doing my homework. I got it home it looks beautiful , and from there the problems show up left and right. This is not a smart TV, this is a TV with 10 apps installed and you are limited to that on screen. Every other app has to be installed to a smart phone. There is no ability to filter a search for vizio smart cast apps. unLike other TV brands you can search install and uninstall needed and unneeded apps. If you like to browse apps and shows this TV is not for you. You have to know what you want to watch to determine what you have to down load to you own personal phone. For instance Youtube does not work on the TV only on your phone. No amazon music, or photos, no weather apps, no games. There si no list of apps that are smart cast and no ability to filter free or paid for apps. Pluto the Free streaming tv app installed works great except for not being able to select a channel by the channels number. so if you are on channel 936 adn want to go back to channel 12 you have to scroll through 100 channels to get back, no last fiction or recently viewed Chanel function. No recently viewed app function also. So if you watch AMC regularly you have to open the app on your phone and select the content on your phone first before you can display it on the TV. Horrible. Horizontal line appear within a few hours of use an are not visually pleasing, in fact i thought something might be wrong with the panel. the loading screen has obvious bloom. My Amazon Fire stick which was $39 is faster to load and has better picture quality on the apps screen. The $39 fire stick is far more versatile and snappy than a my new $900 TV. I will be returning ASAP in the morning for a full refund. If you don't mind having your face in your phone while watching TV this is for you. No Bluetooth as a secondary concern for a TV of this price should have such a basic function. The front panel of the TV is wavy and not flat very noticeable from the side with a reflection just all around unhappy with OS and usability of the TV. The Picture however is great best in class, same with the design. The OS is years behind any other TV band.

Hi Paulie. Thank you for your feedback. The TV actually has 2 different ways of accessing apps. The first way is with traditional built-in applications like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. We’re frequently updating the unit with new apps. Most recently we’ve added NBC & Youtube (which were added to this model through an automatic firmware update). This model also comes with built-in chromecast technology that allows you to cast content from thousands of application on your iOS or Android devices. For a list of all cast capable applications please visit. https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast_2015_apps.

We would love the opportunity to work with you to resolve this issue. Our customer support team can be reached at 877-878-4946. VIZIO

I purchased this tv as our first venture into a 4K tv. I have a Panasonic plasma that I am having a hard time parting with as my main tv so picked this up to have the 4K experience and to hook up an Xbox one X to. Purchased during holidays so $150 off was a great price. The picture quality is very good in 4K and the black levels are pretty good for an lcd. Gaming looked great on it and 4K Netflix was awesome. Cable tv looked pretty bad. I was not impressed with the smart system as other people have mentioned. It is very slow and takes loading anything on Netflix much longer than my Nvidia Shield. I was willing to live with that at this price point. I had the same experience as another reviewer mentioned. A few days after purchase, there was a thin horizontal line that almost looked like static or tv snow flash across the screen. It would happen at startup and eventually go away after watching tv. I eventually swapped it out for another unit and did not have that issue. I had the second unit for a few weeks without any issues. On the last day of my return period those static lines started appearing again while playing Xbox. I tried different content and different hdmi’s and they would pop up randomly. It was very frustrating after wall mounting the tv to drag it back to Best Buy on the last day of my return period two hours from store closing. I’m just grateful it happened within the return period and not after. I am now looking at other tv’s and I will probably purchase a Samsung q8fn after research. It’s about double the price but if I’m spending my hard earned money I want a quality product. You get what you pay for. I would try oled but worried about burn in due to using it for gaming. Never buying Vizio again. Heard good things about them but bad experience for me. Didn’t want to try another of the same model and have to drag it back to Best Buy again.

    Great Didplay, Slow UI

Excellent blacks and beautiful picture. One complaint is the user interface. When it comes to accessing the menu, the response is too slow and selecting apps takes time. I’d rather have a plain looking UI that is quick and snappy than a pretty but slow UI. My other complaint is that there’s no customization and no option to forget a network that you connect to.

Let me preface my comments by saying I am a TV Snob. I bought this tv with 4k and hdr gaming in mind with some 4k, dolby digital,hdr10 content viewing. Ill make this short and sweet. This tv is not as good as a TCL r615 for these reasons : -$200 more -Peak brightness nowhere near as bright -colors look very bland in comparison -Barely able to tell when HDR kicks in because the color gamut is so weak positives over TCL - native 120hz motion vs 60hz on TCL -black levels are extremely dark, more so than TCL -gray uniformity is slightly better -it is slimmer and i believe lighter weight than TCL The choice is yours, but for my eyes and my money I go TCL all day, any day. Just saving you the return trip to best buy that I had to go through.
