Faced so many issues.
Fire stick doesnt work with this tv as hdmi ports are not standard and not compatible.
Smartcast throws errors intermittently.
I get green lines when i cast from phone.
Customer service is rude and after several followups i have decided to trash it for samsung or sony.
All the customer service does is update firmware.

Great screen quality and loved it while it lasted but... failure started Jan 10th then seemed to go away but came back about five days ago.
HDMI ports failed within three months of purchase. When trying to use different devices connected to the HDMI ports the entire screen overlays with a rainbow of colored lines.
I have only been able to get netflix to work once on this TV during the time I've had it. I have been unable to get other streaming services working. You can not update the apps to fix the issue because they are part of the OS.

It was good… While it lasted I bought this TV in January I’ve never done anything to it but watch it. it is now August and my TV completely stopped working, the sensor on the TV won’t read any remote I’ve replaced the batteries in the remote several times I’ve had a TV repair person come take a look at it from Vizio and he is saying that there’s a stripped screw in the back of the TV so it cannot be repaired therefore I wasted my money I suggest you buy your TV from somewhere else. Thanks for nothing Best Buy I will never buy from you again.

I got two of this TV and both had massive, deep scratches across the display, which must’ve happened in the factory, before being packaged. I never even turned the TVs on and got to set them up, because the screens were compromised. I don’t care if this TV is “affordable,” it’s not a bargain if I have to deal with massive gashes across the display. I went with the Sony X-900H, which was way more expensive, but much higher quality.

Misleading advertising by Best Buy

It’s a good product but I was looking for motion rate of 240. Unfortunately this product’s motion rate is only 120. Way Best Buy put the motion rate as 360 is not true. I think it’s for “gaming device”, I’m not a expert. Needless to say, I am very disappointed at Best Buy, they should never even put that as motion rate since it will give bad advertising. Not to mention bad rating for the store also. They should not mislead a consumer like me!!

The native refresh rate does NOT fully describe the TV’s motion clarity technology. The “open cell” or “native” refresh rate describes only the glass panel’s ability to refresh the image on the screen, without taking into account the benefit of the scanning backlight. The “native” refresh rate for this TV is 60. VIZIO’s TVs have a Dynamic Motion Rate, which better describes the TV’s ability to achieve motion clarity through the use of its glass panel and scanning backlight. The Dynamic Motion Rate for this TV is 120.

My 10 year old LG tv had a better picture on it than this one... still does! I would have returned it, but after waiting for my son to return from the lake and mount it on the wall, I didn’t want to ask him to take it down and remount the old one again. It was supposed to be superior to the 7 series, but I don’t think it is! I’m very disappointed! I do like the Alexa capability though!

Impressive - and perfect as an upgrade from 1080p

I upgraded to this TV from a cheap 32 inch Samsung 1080p screen. The difference in size is MASSIVE, so be aware of that - as far as I'm concerned, this is definitely suitable for a living room and would be gigantic for anything short of a master bedroom.
In my short experience with it, the difference in quality has stunned me as well. This is an amazing TV for its price. 4K and HDR are genuine gamechangers. This set really punches above its class by including full-array backlighting with a fair number of local dimming zones (which as I understand it is very impressive and respectable at this price). Even though this has a 60hz refresh rate, I haven't found that this detracts from my enjoyment whatsoever. I had looked at the Q8 model (as I'm sure many will be) and had been wondering how this model's 30 zones would fare compared to that one's 90 zones, but so far I've been really impressed and doubt I would have noticed the difference ultimately. The local dimming on this model really enhances contrast in my experience. Colors are beautiful and the picture quality itself is highly customizable and can be fine-tuned to your liking.
Otherwise, I love the ability to cast content from my devices, and switching input modes is so easy (and can even be performed with voice commands on your assistant of choice!). Vizio's SmartCast is a great media center that allows you to customize app order to your liking, with some decent free content recommendations to boot.
All in all I highly recommend this set for those who, like me, were looking for a fairly priced upgrade from a smaller or lower resolution screen. This has been more than fair - I'm really impressed with the quality of this product. It has been such a pleasant surprise and a joy to use, and I look forward to using it for years to come.

The Vizio 55" Class M-Series is a wonderful TV in it's price range. The image is good, the features are diverse, set-up is easy, and the streaming apps load quickly. If brand does not matter to you, the Vizio is definitely worth considering.
However, I also purchased a Samsung Series 8 at the same time (see my review for that product), at the exact same price. I've been a die-hard Samsung fan for a decade now, but wanted to break the mold and try something new.
I set up both TVs side-by-side in my home. The Vizio set up quicker (Samsung wants you to create an account with them and download their app). The Vizio has all the main streaming services (including Disney+) already built-in. The Vizio remote is more traditional, with more one-feature buttons than the overly simplified Samsung remote. The Vizio seems to have a wider range of pre-set video options (eg, cinema, gaming, etc).
In the end, however, the Samsung just seemed to have richer colors and darker contrasts, especially when viewing at night. The Samsung also seemed to have better bass coming from the built in speakers (but both really would benefit from a soundbar)
I fully admit that there was probably a "Samsung effect" going on based on my previous experiences (really, all positive).
Bottom, the Vizio is perfectly fine, and in several ways, better than the comparable Samsung. And those might be enough to offset the tiny differences in images and sound I noticed. But, at the same price, brand familiarity does have an effect. If you feel good about Vizio, go with the Vizio. You won't be disappointed. However, I'll be sticking with Samsung.
Maybe I'll try again in a few years...

Awesome picture and color clarity. Watching movies in 4k is beautiful. Gaming on series x looks and runs great. Especially with the new pro gaming engine. Only wish it was 120hz, hope this comes a standard with these new tvs. Overall great value.

This Vizio M-Series has been on my living room wall for a few years now. The 55" size is perfect in my studio apartment. The colors and detail are incredible where I have actually sat up on my couch and to get a better view at the detail and colors of this tv. It has often times surprised that much causing me to take a second look. The sound from the TV isn't great but like most tv's that not an important aspect to the manufactures now a days. So I purchased a Vizio soundbar and I am set. I can highly recommend this tv although being several years old Vizio has surely have upgraded their TV's. However if this tv is still available the price should be even more of a bargain in 2023 with the picture still being noteworthy.

Best for a Dark Room

My 3 Star Rating is based off of the average. 5 Star for Value of intended use, Quality I gave 3 because it needs to be in a darker environment for best use. Ease of Use I gave 3 Star only because after setting up the set (which went very smooth), I decided I wanted to put it in a different location than I originally intended, which meant a different blu-ray player (same brand), Xbox, and a Vizio Sound Bar via HDMI ARC instead of a Sony model via ARC.
The living room location just had too much ambient light so I switched to the basement living room with only overhead lighting. The TV just doesn't get bright enough and also retain deeper blacks to be in that type of ambient room lighting. In the basement it looks great.
However, I ran into audio issues moving the TV to the different location. The TV speakers worked fine with all settings, but not the soundbar. I ended up just doing a factory reset and that seemed to fix the issue. However, it brought in a new one of "Pink Hue" with my Blu-Ray player.
This appears to be an issue Vizio is used too as they have a page dedicated to this issue on their website. They only mention cable/satellite boxes being part of the problem as it has to do with resolution signal the box is set to. Blu-Ray players don't have this setting so the suggestion to fix was not applicable. However, it appears to have fixed itself.
There is a companion app for phones/tablets and you can control the tv with it. It is also has a keyboard so that instead of using the physical remote to log-in your subscription apps. However, the shift function, special character key, and even the backspace key does not work in the app, so it is a pointless function at this point.
Coming back to the Value, this is a great TV set. I did think I was buying a different version of it with the 90 Local Dimming Zones (Q8) instead of 30 (Q7). I didn't pick up on there actually being two different versions of the M55 Quantum on the vizio website and just thought the best buy page was wrong (I have ran into that before). I'm not sure what the max brightness is on the Q7, but I'm guessing it is only 400nits instead of the 600nit max the M Quantum series is stated to have.
Honestly, if you can wait for the Q8 to come out, I would. I decided to keep the Q7 as it was an upgrade from the 2013 Insignia 46" set I decided to replace it with. The 55" LG55W5300 3D LED IPS TV it was going to replace, while having the HDR and 4K upgrades is nice, the LG set is still really good for most content and is definitely bright enough for the living room.
Right now there aren't any 4K Blu-Ray players instock at my local store. I prefer disc based content for my movies as it is not watered down so to speak from the streaming content providers like Vudu. Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime seem to do well, but they don't always have all the features a movie was released with. Once I hooked up my Xbox One S it was immediately noticeable the difference, but still because of brightness it is better positioned in my basement.
Overall, I really like Vizio as a brand and their User Interface. The WatchFree based on PlutoTV is great, of course you can also just download the app. I have installed many Smart TV's for family/friends/work and while LG and Samsung make some great TV sets, both of their UI/UX are not very intuitive, LG being the worst in my opinion. The SmartCast UI is based off of Google's Chromecast and a home brew system. All Apps available come pre-installed, so you get only what is available, but they the major ones like Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, Disney+, MoviesAnywhere, and Hulu.
My preferred Smart platform is Roku, but having experienced a Roku TV that after a few years really slowed down after updates, I wanted to steer clear of it as my main setup. Amazon has their Fire TV platform via Insignia and Toshiba, but they don't really come with the high-end features that Vizio or others do. I do like with the Amazon that you can make the TV a "dumb" tv by disabling the smart features during setup, which means your remote and Amazon cannot listen in and/or track your watching. Throw a Roku on it and your set.
All-in-All I am happy with this set. The ProGaming feature is pretty cool as the lag is really low. While I wanted it to be in the upstairs living room, I am actually happier it worked out the way it did as it will be better utilized in the gaming room. It was also hard pill to swallow to get a 4K Blu-Ray player that supports Dolby Vision at nearly the same cost as this TV set.
Well that is my 2 cents, hope it helps someone.

Great buy! I did a lot of research (maybe a week) on what tv to buy because I didn’t what to buy another tv and be disappointed. I hadn’t bought a tv since 2010. Had my 1080p LG, finally give out. So I needed an upgrade. The colors are very vibrant, clear, and the blacks are actually black not gray. After a little calibration the colors pop. Although, this tv is basically the same as the 2019 MQ8 model only it’s a 60hz panel. Since, the new MQ8 model has a 60hz panel also I decide to go for this MQ7 model for the fact I needed a tv asap. Overall, for my first Vizio 4k tvs, I definitely did a great job lol

Tv is overall great !!! This Tv was a replacement for a 6 year old Sony Bravia that I was told the panel and pixels were going out. The Vizio has great picture and color. The motion cycle rate seems to be bad at times. I am not sure if it is the TV or the broadcasting as the motion pixalation is bad sometimes. I have considered complaining and taking it back for this reason as the older Sony did not seem to have as much of a problem with this situation. I have tried and used all codes I have with the cable remote and it will not learn to the remote. Every time I try to up the volume it automatically turns on the sound bar. I do not want the sound bar on All the time. I have tried different settings in the TV menu with none of them changing this annoying problem. Overall good TV though not expecting the issues I have with it.

Great TV and features for the price. We needed a replacement for our 10 year old TV in our bedroom and today's content just was not running well on it anymore. We have an OLED in our living area but were not wanting to spend that kind of money for something we wont watch as much.
My biggest want was to make sure that we still had a TV with a full array. Most manufacturers make claims about picture quality stats but do not have a full back-lit array. This TV checked the box for me and having had full array Vizio's in the past, I knew it would perform. While I do not game, having all the performance features definitely didnt hurt.
Picture quality is great and bright enough for a bedroom despite only having 30 dimming zones. 4K picture is great for this price point and HDMI 2.1 is a great additional feature for future proofing.
The only fault I give this TV is the CEC functionality (detects and allows other devices to power on and off). When I turn on my Apple TV the device turns off and on a couple times to recognize the Dolby Vision input. Also anytime the TV updates software OTA or the power cycles (power outage) it completely loses the CEC settings and I have to reset everything. Not a huge grip but can be an inconvenient to the user.
Otherwise I definitely recommend the TV for someone who wants quality features at a lower price point.

Colors are fantastic, motion smoothing is okay. I don't get too much blur watch Bubble Basketball. The only thing I'm not super jazzed about is how shallow an angle you lose the picture/color at. a couple feet to the left or right of center sees the color get washed out quickly, and then you lose the picture entirely if you move a little more from there. Again, this was a cheap TV, so I ain't mad.
