    VIZIO Model M55Q7-J01 - 55" M7 Series is a winner

I just purchased the VIZIO Model: M55Q7-J01 - 55" Class M7 Series Premium Quantum LED 4K UHD Smart TV is a definite winner. I decided to purchase the M7 over the M6 or the V Series because the M7 is a back lit LED (Vizio calls it Full array: direct-lit). The Best Buy salesman completely explained the difference between side lit & back lit LED technology. I’m glad I got the M7 and not spending the big bucks on a TV with OLED technology. I picked the unit up at my local Best Buy store. I have to say, the unit was very well packaged and secure inside. The box looked like double layer cardboard & very dense styrofoam on the top & bottom. The assembly was a breeze. Two screws for the feet and plug in the power cord to the back receptacle. It took longer to enter my Netflix & Amazon login information than actual TV setup. I have not explored all the picture and audio settings yet. Out of the box, the sound is impressive, and I feel that no additional sound bar is needed because the speakers are on the bottom of the screen & not on the back like my old Vizio. I am hard of hearing, so this TV has saved me a couple hundred dollars (at least) because an additional soundbar is not needed. I am still using my ATT&T Uverse cable box while I try out one or more Live TV streaming service. Already have Netflix & Amazon but will also check out the Vizio Free+ channels. In conclusion the TV functions perfectly for my individual needs. This TV has more apps than you can shake a stick at. No Fire Stick Needed. Wifi Connectivity is good, I noticed no lag. The picture is vibrant, crisp, and clear. I am happy and most importantly the wife is happy. As they say, “Happy wife, Happy life”.

Good Value in Midrange TV Space

The Vizio M55Q7-J01 (M55 = 55”) is the 2022 model of Vizio’s M-series. This series is their upper mid-range series as I see it in their lineup. This series comes in 6 sizes ranging from 50” all the way up to 75” which gives buyers a wide range to suit their needs. Setup: Setting this TV up is very simple. Plug in, power on, and go through a few menus to select language, setup Wi-Fi, cable, and accept terms and conditions and you are just about ready to go. The TV will automatically check for updates upon first use to make sure the set is up to date. This will take a few minutes. Like most TV’s you can wall mount this unit or use the included feet. Each one slides in the base and uses one screw which can be set at two different heights! I really like this feature as it allows use of a sound bar in front of the TV without interference of viewing of the screen. The highest setting allows for roughly 2.5” below the bezel or 3.25” below the edge of the screen for a sound bar in front. Usage: After setup, you will be introduced to SmartCast which is Vizio’s TV software that runs the apps and streaming services. It works fairly well and gives you a lot of free content via a few different apps. There are so many apps that browsing through them all takes a lot of time and many will likely never be used but they are there for those who want it. As far as I can tell, you cannot ad or remove any of these apps and the updating is left to Vizio. This TV features the main apps such as: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, Youtube TV, Paramount+, and Apple TV. The TV supports the three main voice assistants of: Siri, Google, and Alexa. The remote has 6 shortcut buttons for common streaming apps but also features voice commands. If you tell it to play a certain movie it will bring up the list of apps which it can be played from. If inside one of these apps already, it will play or show that movie/show inside that app. The usual streaming, cable TV, HDMI inputs work well. I have noticed that I cannot get many 4K UHD movies on the Netflix app even though another TV in the house can play the same movies in 4K. Prime Video seems to allow 4K streaming for most/all movies that are offered in 4K. YouTube app also plays 4K content without issue. Picture Quality: BRIGHT! (If you want) The picture quality is good for this range of TV. It sure is no Samsung QLED or other higher end brand setup but it can hold its own when you dial in the picture settings. The picture settings can be changed based on input so HDMI 1 can have a different setting than HDMI 4 and so on. This TV features HDR10 (and 10+), Dolby Vision, 27 Local Dimming Zones, HDMI VRR, AMD FreeSync, HDMI 2.1, and 600 nits of brightness. This TV can get REALLY bright which leads me to believe it can be used in certain outdoor situations fairly well. Contrast and blacks are good on quality 4K content, just ok otherwise. Once you get the settings tweaked around they get better but are still not amazing like other brands I have used. Localized dimming does a good job and there isn’t a ton of blooming. Since this TV does not support 120 FPS, gamers might be disappointed that they cannot take full advantage of next gen console output. HDMI 2.1 is present without the 120 FPS capability of course. Overall, my biggest complaint about the picture quality is the TV relies on good content to display a really good picture. If the content is professionally shot 4K then the TV will display a great picture. If the content is just ok 1080p content, then the TV really struggles to display much over average picture. If the content is poor quality, then it will not look good at all on this TV. The sharpness levels really depend on the native quality of the content on this set. Other TV’s can hide 1080P content pretty well with upscaling but I would not group this TV in that category. Pros: - Design, Thin Bezels, Adjustable Stand - Dolby Vision, HDR10 (10+), HLG HDR - Voice Control, Built in Siri, Google, Alexa Voice Assistants - Apple TV - Variable Refresh Rate, AMD Freesync, Auto Low Latency Mode Cons: - Remote almost too simple (Hard to find/complete certain functions such as what quality TV is actually displaying content in) - Netflix App, Very Few 4K Movies (Handful of Documentaries in 4K) - No Analog Inputs (For those who still need it) - No 120hz Display Final Thoughts: Overall, I think this TV is a fair value for the mid-range category that this TV fits into. No the picture quality is not perfect, no the software isn’t perfect, no the TV’s doesn’t have a 120hz panel but the TV has several very useful features/qualities. The picture is bright and vibrant while being clear once you can verify you are actually getting 4K content. The adjustable stand is nice for sound bar use and the voice controls are nice for navigating the menus.

Great tv overall. The OS seems pretty snappy (they all are at first so we’ll see if it lasts). Very bright display with good colors. Noticed a couple of dead pixels after powering on but they are on the very edge of the display so didn’t want to go through the hassle of boxing up and returning. Overall a good tv for the price.

The quality of this TV is spectacular BUT it has to be tweaked to your liking, the default pic settings are not good and unrealistic, but once you modify it, the quality can be compared to a Tv almost double the price, I was having some issues with the HDMI ports and CEC feature but they released an update like two days after i got it and everything worked out, I have a Sonos beam 2 connected through the EARC port and is magnificent, one more thing that is does have 4 HDMI ports when other brands that are 2 or 300 dlls more expensive only offer two and sometimes 3 ports, I don't use the smart part of the vs which is the smart cast I have an Apple Tv connected and it looks amazing specially cause of the Dolby Vision, the value on this tv i would say minimum 999.99 and I can't believe I paid 559.00 for it, GREAT DEAL, QUALITY etc etc

Went from a 42 inch cheaper tv so this new tv is amazing. Looked around in my budget and it was between vizio or a slightly smaller LG. Im very happy i went with vizio! I thought from reviews that the interface on the tv would be laggy, its not at all. Couldnt be happier.

This particular Vizio tv is a good one. Bright and vivid colors and highlights right next to dark, inky black levels. It doesn't look as crisp, and sharp with 480 or 720p content as my older Hisense H8C bedroom tv, which the Vizio is a replacement for, but 1080p and 4k content on it look so much better. I didn't like the smart cast platform, so I connected a Roku Ultra to it. The standard sound isn't particularly good either, but I connected my Vizio v series 2.1 sound bar from the other tv to it, and that alleviated that issue. Hopefully... I'll get plenty of usage out of my new tv, because it's the best 4k tv that I've owned so far, and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

For straight on viewing, I love this TV. It's side view is washed out, but I intend to use it in my bedroom where I will be facing it straight on. Right now it's in my family room but only I am watching at the moment so the side view isn't an issue.

Excellent choice for the price. Picture quality is excellent. With Dolby Vision and Atmos the viewing experience is very good. Might have gone with the bigger screen size, but this seems to be perfect for smaller rooms like mine. The downside is the Vizio TV software, which is slow. And also does not allow installation of any new apps other than what comes pre-installed. (It does come with all the streaming services that you may need)

Amazing TV when it comes to the specs. It really does my series x justice!! My only issue is that the power cord connection to the tv seems very loose. I had to exchange my first one for another because the cord kept falling out on it’s own from the slightest vibrations!! The connection on my new tv still seems weak compared to most. TLDR: Great Display, Great Smart Features, Great for 4K Gaming Consoles, Poor Power Port Design.
