In the works to be a wonderful OLED

Saw it on sale for $900 after just launching around Black Friday and took the leap on the cheapest OLED I'd ever seen. Knowing LG is the one who produces the panels, I just needed hope Vizio could make something with the rest of the TV. I can't speak for the sound quality, as I'm using a soundbar, and I've exclusively only used a PS5 for content on the TV, and what I can say is: THE BAD (I'll start here because some issues have been fixed by, or are being looked into update wise and are isolated to use with a PS5) - VRR isn't currently available for PS5 so the 2.1 ports do not work. At all. No visual or audio. BUT the other ports work fine for 4k60fps with HDR so no major loss since games aren't reaching 4k120fps anyways.. but still annoying (vizio in pursuit of a patch) - Originally had an intermittent sound bar issue where no sound would come from optical, but a software patch has eliminated this issue. - The plastic panel on the back of my television had a 1/4 inch gap where it was not installed correctly. Not sure if this is a one in a million thing or not. I personally don't mind, as the TV works flawlessly, but keep an eye out if you get one. THE GOOD - Incredible picture. If you want OLED and don't want to pay LG prices, it's the same panel. - Updates are slowly fixing the few operational issues I've noticed. FINAL VERDICT, It's a new piece of tech with some bugs being worked out (seemingly only PS5 users) If you aren't concerned with 4k120fps on a ps5 right this second, want an OLED, and see this TV for quite a bit cheaper than an LG, BUY IT. Watch some reviews from TV guys on YouTube and Google whether there has been patches for stuff if you need more convincing either direction. I'll try to remember to update the review if/when they patch the PS5 2.1 issues.

Excellent TV, the best I've ever owned. This is my first OLED TV, I was really scared to drop $1,200-1,500 on one, but I could do $899 easily. Coming from the nineties when we had CRT TVs that could do perfect black, this brought back memories. Now instead of small TVs and square screens, we have giant widescreens and perfect blacks. Watching this TV makes me feel like I won the lottery! I feel like I've made it! Just an example, I've been on a 4K Bluray shopping spree in recent years. The 4k movies are an excellent upgrade to the original blurays on a regular LED TV. On an OLED, the blurays look mind-blowing. Casino Royale and Heat are incredible. So is Blade and Master and Commander. There are a lot of complaints about this TV. I had few things to complain about, but everything seemed perfect out of the box aside from some terribly placed HDMI and power cord inputs. Someone complained about the TV taking long to power up but that's because it comes in Eco-Mode out of the box. You can turn on Quick Start for faster powering. Warning, this TV box is incredibly fat and tall. My other Insignia 55" fit in the same SUV, this one didn't. Since I only lived down the road, we tried to fit it on its back but a nosy Best Buy worker came out to warn us that if we did, our receipt would be voided. I realized she wasn't responsible for that, if we ever took it back, the camera outside would probably be played back and the manager would use it as an excuse to deny a return. Based on my experience with TVs, selling my old ones, watching Youtube videos, this really isn't a problem anymore. Many other stores like Walmart and Target don't really care how you load your TVs. I'm not sure why Best Buy is using it as an excuse to void warranties. It's kind of a bad practice that makes me want to take my business elsewhere. From research online, LED TVs seem to have no problems when transported horizontally. It was just plasmas that had problems because of the way they were built. And obviously, plasmas aren't sold anymore. I would be more concerned about what happens between the time the TV leaves the store and is transported to its final location, LOL.

This TV will wow you with its amazing image quality. But after some prolonged use you will really start to see this TV/brand is just not acceptable when better alternatives are out there. Proposed advantages of this TV... -Main appeal of this TV is OLED image quality for a cheaper price. However, you can easily find the LG CX at or below the price of this TV, so that argument doesn't hold up for long. -HDR10+ content is so rare that support of this format is negligible, honestly. Significant flaws: -This TV takes about 10 seconds to display an image once you turn it on. Once you turn it on, you may or may not get an extremely dim image that requires a power cycle (not just a simple off/on) with some external streaming devices. -The on screen volume indicator will sometimes never even show up or will instead display random numbers likely indicating all the button presses you have recently inputted. -The TV will not reliably passthrough all of its advertised audio formats. -4k120 doesn't work out of the box. -VRR doesn't work out of the box. -No indication as to whether there will be FreeSync Premium or not. -Very poor PC flexibility if you intend to use it that way. -Complicated build process when cheap feeling stand that stands up way too high.

Overall. Picture is awesome. It's true what they say, going to oled from lcd is like going from a old tube tv to a lcd. Blacks are super deep. Colors are great. Had an issue with powering on TV, but how to fix is on YouTube. Xbox 120hz refresh rate works on next gen systems,, but vrr only works with 60hz refresh rate. Until vizio releases a firmware update, it should be good to go.

I have this TV for a month now I think. The image quality is very good, It's an OLED so you know what you're getting here. The problem with this TV is the firmware, It's pretty leggy at times and I found that I need to disconnect it from the power occasionally. But all in all, for the price I got it for I think it's a good buy, I would purchase it again if it would be under 1000 USD.

The tv is a great price for an oled, it uses the same LG panel used in the lg cx. It has great colors and dark blacks. Only complaint is vizio hasn’t updated to fix hdmi 2.1 problems that allows 4K at 120 FPS gaming on the ps5. It does 4K at 60 FPS and 1080p at 120 FPS until the update is released.

The Vizio OLED 2020 is the first OLED TV Vizio has released and delivers excellent overall performance. Like any OLED TV, its ability to turn off individual pixels results in an infinite contrast ratio and perfect black uniformity. It displays an excellent color gamut for HDR content, but it doesn't get very bright in HDR, and large areas get significantly dimmer. Most gamers should appreciate the 120Hz refresh rate, near-instant response time, and low input lag. It's advertised to have variable refresh rate (VRR) support. From initial setup the colors, contrast and picture is amazing. The Smartest features lacks some Apps but I understand they are coming in a software update shortly. While the image out of the box is great, if you take the time to calibrate the TV, you will be blown away by its performance surpassing some of its competitor at more then double the price. Excellent picture quality, Sound is impressive and nice cable management on the rear of the tv.

    Beware of this Budget OLED

Okay this is going to be a long one but stick with me guys. I owned this Tv for 9 months before I couldn't stand it any longer and bought a different OLED instead. TLDR: If you only want to use this Tv for watching movies or tv it's a good value OLED if you can get it cheap like I did. If you plan to use it for any advanced features like Dolby Atmos or 4k 120hz with consoles save yourself the trouble and buy something else. This Tv is on the surface a great value for a 4k 120hz OLED perfect for gaming on the new ps5/xbox series x|s but is riddled with numerous problems. First the Good: I managed to pick up an open box of this tv for 850$ so it was a steal to me at the time. That being said if all you care about is a budget OLED for a good viewing experience and all you plan to do is watch Netflix or cable TV then this is a good choice. Unfortunately, that is the only redeeming quality of this Tv. Works fine with my RTX 3080 for the few times I connected my pc to it; 4k 120hz was detected and functioned as expected. The Bad: The most annoying issue with this television seems to be a power state problem that I cannot seem to figure out. When powered on it will play audio through speakers or soundbar but no picture will come on. Changing inputs or power cycling will not fix it. The only solution is to unplug the Tv from the wall and back in and then it comes on just fine again. As a result, you must do this EVERYTIME you want to use the Tv. If you plan to use this with a ps5/series X like I did you will want to pay attention to this part. Using the Tv in 4k 120hz mode on either console is a nightmare. The xbox will not detect 120 support in 4k mode first of all. After tinkering with it I found a solution which involved putting the tv in 1080p mode and bumping the refresh rate to 120 and after that then changing the resolution to 4k it would now stay in 4k 120 mode (In xbox display settings not the television settings itself). I did not encounter any issue like this with my PS5. However, I did have issues with HDR on BOTH consoles where the Tv would split the image 3 times into blue, green and red. Hard resetting the systems was the only way to solve this problem and only occurred when using HDR. This issue seemed to occur at random while playing but from what I could tell it would happen whenever a scene would transition from one to another through load screens. The final nail in the coffin for me on this television was Dolby Atmos support. I upgraded my sound system 2 months ago to a 3.1.2 sound bar with Dolby Atmos and set it up with this Tv and thought all was well. I have a very keen ear for audio and noticed immediately that the audio for dialogue sounded choppy (Think the sound it makes when you talk through a spinning fan) I could not for the life of me figure why this was happening or how to fix it. I swapped cables and power cycled everything with no solution and figured maybe the sound bar was defective. I ended up not returning the soundbar and just dealt with it (I am glad I did). What finally made me sell it and buy a new Tv was one day randomly no audio would play at all from my soundbar. I spent hours trying to figure it out and broke down and contacted Vizio support. They couldn't figure out what was wrong either and eventually told me to try using the Digital optical audio cable instead of the HDMI on the soundbar. Audio worked again. However, if you are not aware Dolby Atmos only works over EARC HDMI and not ARC or optical audio completely defeating the purpose of the expensive sound bar I just purchased for that reason. Vizio support told me that there is a known issue with these televisions not passing audio through HDMI and are working on a fix to roll out via OTA updates. It was then I bought a new Tv the next day because in the 9 months I have owned this Tv Vizio never released any updates fixing any of the issues I have described which is unacceptable given its price. I had 0 reason to believe they would release anything to fix it as they already proven they couldn't do anything about the other issues. These problems are not isolated to me though. If you look up this Tv you will find many people complaining of the exact same things. That being said the new OLED I bought (from a different manufacturer) has had none of the issues I described here. It works flawlessly with my consoles and Dolby Atmos works great without the choppy audio, so I know for a fact it was not any of the cables I was using nor faulty consoles or sound bar. I have owned many Vizio Tvs over the years, but this will be my last. Their budget offerings are still good, but this experience has soured me on them. I will never buy a high end Vizio again.

When bought the TV, I was pretty happy with it. As time has gone on, I'm very unhappy with it. The TV has problems when showing dimly lit scenes where it looks like the shadows are moving around and objects in the foreground look like a blurry fog moving around. Also, when anything is shown in letterbox format, there's white lines at the bottom and top of the screen. At other times, it gets a shimmer when the scene changes. Other times, the picture starts to get fuzzy and the colors look pastel and the reds are amplified, other parts always seem to have to much yellow no matter what I do. Other times, the colors look like they're bleeding over. Most of these problems seem to get worse the longer the TV stays on. Sometimes I have to go set up my settings again because it resets for some reason. Sometimes it shuts off on it's own, and when I turn it back on, the power light comes on and nothing else, or it comes on with sound and no picture. After unplugging it, everything works. A few days ago. it started to make a loud squealing sound and the picture went crazy. I called visio and the first guy was helpful and I sent pictures like he asked. the next person said they didn't see anything wrong and asked for video. I sent low resolution because thats all I can send through email. Another one calls me back and says now they want high def video of me going into the home screen and connect to an app and then picking something and play it. We went round and round in circles when I explained that I can only send 2.4 megabytes of data through my email and she insited I could. I finally reached my limit and told her I'm going to leave a bad review for this TV. She said "I could do whatever I wanted, but its not the TV, it our provider. ?? I've had 2 HD TV's in that spot and the 24 inch just to check it out afterward and no problems. No problems with any of the other 3 in the house, so it's not Xfinity. I will never buy any product with the word Visio on it. I talked to The manager at best buy and showed him some pictures and video and he said it's the motherboard and Visio is known for making it as hard as they can to get anything serviced.

If you’re reading this review you’ve probably read dire warnings elsewhere of firmware bugs that make this TV a terrible choice. As of 2/2022, my TV has the latest firmware and has very few noticeable issues. The only issues I’ve had has been intermittent freezes of some apps which rarely you have to turn the TV off and then back on again. I find the interface to be pretty snappy overall and works well. I do not have a ps5 to test the 4K 120hz, but I do have a pc capable of pushing it so I may try that out eventually, but supposedly it has been fixed For picture, if you stack this TV against other OLED and Mini LED displays it won’t come out on top, but when you find it on sale it is the absolute lowest price among comparable TVs. I put it in a well lit room and I find it to be plenty bright enough, and the colors, black levels, and HDR effects of an OLED is best described as surreal when you have grown accustomed to other panel types, especially moving from an older TV like I did. My gripe about the picture quality is that I feel like the image processor in the TV is a little ill-equipped for being Vizios top tier of TVs. At first I thought it was due to streaming content, but then I got a UHD disc player and saw the exact same pixelating artifact playing a movie from a disc. It’s most obvious when you have a low motion subject against a fast moving background, like a camera focused on some spinning in circles. They will have this heavily pixelated halo around them and the background will all have compressive quality loss. It’s a very specific setting and is usually a short lived scene when there is one, but it’s there and it bugs me just a little. Cosmetically the TV itself is attractive due to how minimal the display is and the ability to use the stand as a sound bar shelf is handy, if not less than elegant due to me using an older sound bar that I already had. It has several plastic trim pieces that can cover the cable connections, but they’re just more pieces to keep track of if you wall mount because they are obscured by my full motion mount frame. You can’t see them when mounted against a wall anyways, so a minor gripe but something to keep in mind if you plan on using a VESA mount and having the back of the tv visible. For sound, I have not even tested the TVs built in speakers once. My only problem therefore is that I attempted to watch a studio Ghibli movie on Blu-ray and the particular combination of the TV and my UHD player (Sony UBP-X700) sent zero sound on pass through. Apparently there are so many high end audio codecs and competition these days that you run into some device incompatibilities, which required me to run a separate cable direct from the player to my sound bar. Fortunately my sound bar automatically changes sources. Not sure Vizio would take blame for this, but I don’t care if audio is a lower quality plain stereo, it just needs to work without awkward workarounds. So bottom line, there are some quirks but I got it for way less than I could have gotten the same size OLED in another brand for, and the picture quality has made me want to relive so many great movies that I own. It’s just a joy to watch. The issues are overall minor, but they’re there and don’t exactly scream “flagship” TV. In the end, my 5 star review is a value proposition and I enjoy my tv very much.

Decided to give the Vizio OLED a shot over LG as I have a LG OLED B6P I bought 4 years ago that is a little dated now. Picture quality is excellent on the Vizio on anything 4K, being Dolby Vision, HDR10, or vanilla 4K. 1080 content is fine but not as clear as it could be. The Vizio OLED has a feature that the LG OLEDs dont have such as a built-in DTS decoder but the eARC port on this TV is not HDMI 2.1 like on the LGs which is a big issue for anyone who runs everything through a home theater receiver. It means if you want to hook up a new PS5 or Xbox Series X, you have to connect it directly to the TV and let the TV pass the audio to the receiver. In order for this happen, you must enable CEC on the Vizio which has some annoying traits. LGs do not have this problem. One of the biggest current issues with this TV is even though this TV has 2 4K/120 Hz HDMI ports, they dont actually work properly at all. I could not get the Xbox One X to display plugged into one of those ports at 120 Hz. Also VRR supposedly does not work on the Vizio OLEDs which really only matters if you have one of the newest game consoles or use with a PC. Also the smartcast interface is clunky and very cluttered. Its slow and does not close the apps when you actually close them. If many of these things do not apply to you, this is a great TV for $900. Nothing beats the picture quality of OLED. This TV still has some major flaws that hopefully can be resolved through future firmware updates so there is some hope. Unfortunately I will be most likely returning this TV and might just wait until the new LG 2021 models come out since I do not plan on getting a new gaming console until April when the bugs are more worked out in them.

Let me start by saying the picture on this tv is great. Love the quality of OLED for the price. Unfortunately that is where my positivity with this set ends. From purchase I have had continued issues with CEC/EARC, audio issues, power issues, handoff issues etc. The price came in lower than competitor OLEDs at launch but hindsight might argue my choice.

Let me begin with the down side. Smartcast OS isn't great. It crashes a lot and it's very unstable. I have to do a reboot every so often because of OS issues (the app froze, it doesn't show the picture while casting, it goes back to home screen while watching a movie without touching the remote, etc etc.) So in other words be patient about it because it gets bothesome. Next, the motion handling isn't quite there yet. In some videos you can see artifacts and others some jaggering. But if you don't mind soap opera effect you can easily tune those off. And last, upscaling could be a lot better. Now the good stuff. This tv is for 4k HDR/HDR10+/Dolby Vision content. The series, the movies look amazing! The shadow details, the contrast, the colors! So if you know how to mess with the settings and be patient about the OS you have a bargain here. After all the OS can always improve over an update and WHEN it works, it makes sense. Or you can plug in your Roku/Android tv/Apple TV, and I know that doesn't sound right after spending that amount of money on a tv, but this Oled Panel deserve that chance. Btw the Oled Panel it's made by LG.

I bought this tv in October for use with my Xbox Series X, and although the picture looks great at 60Hz, the firmware is still a mess 10 months later and does not allow me to use the 120Hz and VRR capabilities as advertised which was the whole reason I got it. If I even try, I need to unplug it to get it back on which is a common problem. If you want a nice picture for tv or movies, this will do, but not for gaming on the latest generation GPUs or consoles.

I normally never right reviews but had to because of how horrible this has been. I purchased this tv after owning a Vizio LED TV. It had some issues but overall I loved it and was ready to upgrade to OLED. After reading some promising tech blog reviews and seeing this on sale I took the plunge. I have had this TV for 5 months now and here is my review: Setup: Audio – Sonos Arc, Streaming – Apple TV 4K, Gaming Consoles- Xbox Series X + Nintendo Switch. All HDMI cables are 2.1 certified cables. Pros: The TV has incredible picture that is really a huge step up from an LCD and even LED. The unit itself is gorgeous and looks great on a stand. Cons: This TV constantly fails to power on. Since I use Apple TV to watch most of my content, I use the Apple TV remote to power the TV on and off. 4/10 times the TV will power on as it should. 3/10 times I have to dig up the Vizio remote or walk over to the TV to turn it on because it does not power up with the Apple TV. 1/10 times the TV says “no signal” on power up and I have to unplug the Apple TV HDMI and reconnect. 1/10 times I have to fully unplug the TV from power and reconnect it (sometimes several times) to have the TV power on because it will not respond to the remote or the built in power button. I have reset this TV back to factory settings over 20 times and reconfigured it and it still wont fix this. Many times when the TV powers on, it forgets the soundbar and an annoying pop up stays on screen saying a new audio device has been configured. The TV has 2 power modes, eco and quick-start. In order to use Alexa or HomeKit the TV needs to be in quick-start. For some reason the TV always reverts to eco which essentially disables Alexa and HomeKit when the TV is powered off. Vizio has claimed that they are aware of these issues but in the 5 months I have owned it, they have only released 1 update that fixed some issues (ie 120hz refresh rate for new consoles) but clearly do not seem concerned to fix something that should never have been broken in the first place. My unit also did not come with a stand in the box (box was sealed, it was a factory error). I had a $200 Insignia Roku LCD TV with a similar setup and features that I never had to touch the TV remote nor once had an issue with at all. If you are deciding between this and a similar model from LG or Sony I would encourage you to spend the extra money on a TV that looks good and also powers on. This will be my last Vizio purchase.

the picture quality on this is great and getting it on sale made it a definite buy. I've had it for a week now and decided to keep it. No other TVs had HDMI 2.1 or features for playing games close to the price range. Even during Prime Day and Best Buys sales I couldn't find any TV with the same value. The biggest frustration with this TV is the menu and how things lag when you first turn on the TV. Even with quick start when you want to switch inputs after you turn on the tv it lags. Either it does not move or it has a delay and settles on an input you don't want. I also had MAJOR issues with my xbox one s and getting Dolby atmos to work with my soundbar. I could not plug my xbox into the SB's input and then the ARC input on it to the EARC input on the tv. Video would pop up for a second or two and then say "no input". So Instead I plugged the Xbox to my TV directly. Dolby would not pass through even though it is supposed to. Luckily after dealing with this for almost a week Xbox had a new update to their UI. All of a sudden dolby atmos pass through worked! That is what made me keep it as it was bugging me. I still can't run an iput into the soundbar and get video. I believe it's an issue with the sound bar not playing nice with EARC. I also can't get anything to input through it so it's not just the xbox. Luckily the issues other users had with VRR not working was fixed with an update that loaded the minute I powered up my TV. I am hoping a new patch update will fix the buggy and laggy menus. This also affects the CEC control of my sound bar For the first few minutes I turn on the TV I can't control the sound value direct from the vizio remote. This again could be a compatibility issue between my sound bar and the TV. Dobly Vision hands down blows HDR10 away. I am looking forward to everyone moving over to that standard. On netflix dolby vision looks amazing on this tv. Prime Video not so much as they use HDR10 which to me seems darker. Overall for 1199 on sale and for an OLED TV it's a great value and I am ok dealing with the bugs that hopefully get fixed in the coming months.

First and foremost, the picture quality on Vizio's first ever OLED is exceptional! You'll definitely get the inky blacks and high contrast when viewing HDR content. Again, 4K content, especially in HDR if fantastic. Definitely a quality viewing experience at a price you can stomach. The downsides of this OLED come from subpar upscaling from non-native 4K content and various amounts of software bugs. Please read up on potential bugs you may experience with this OLED panel; Vizio has been extremely slow on patching up some much needed fixes. Some bugs are small like settings not saving accordingly and others are more severe like handshake issues with next-gen gaming consoles. In short, if this is your first OLED and you watch plenty of HDR content, I highly recommend this display. Just be mindful of potential bugs.

Purchased October 2020 and have used it daily ever since. I am extremely happy with its beautiful picture quality and the Vizio Smart Cast OS. Contrary to much of what Ive read, I prefer it to Tizen, Android TV, and ROKU, all of which I've owned. I use it only for tv and movie watching, no gaming, and have a Bose sound system attached with optical cable. Fortunately, I have not experienced what I would call bugs. It always turns on, off, and performs as expected. I find it easy and pleasant to use, and being my first OLED, am blown away with the color and contrast of the picture with every use.

Lack of Support from Both Manufacturer & Best Buy

Repeated issues with the manufacturer's televisions. Will not purchase from again. Warranty is lacking and support for diagnosing issues is poor. This coupled with Best Buy's Geek Squad Protection Plan makes for lots of wasted money and hours. Will not purchase again.

I’m tired of seeing all these “buggy” comments. Now it’s true when this tv first released there was some problems, but all problems have since been fixed with firmware updates at least for me. I currently work at Best Buy specifically in magnolia which specializes in TVs among other things. First thing first when it comes to picture quality the Vizio has the same exact picture quality as the more expensive OLEDs such has LG BX, CX, and Sony A8H. Honestly maybe even better color accuracy and shadow detail in dark scenes. However LG CX and Sony A8H both do get brighter than the vizio, but if you’re watching in a pitch black room like I mostly do, brightness isn’t that big a factor. Don’t be afraid and tricked into thinking that this tv is too “buggy” because now they work perfectly fine and the vizio is far cheaper than the LG CX and BX and HELLA cheaper than the Sony oleds. Now for you gamers, I admit this tv definitely had problems but I have a PS5 and everything works perfectly fine now. This tv has 2 HDMI 2.1 ports(the Sony oleds don’t have any and yet they are $700 more.....) so you can game at 4K 120 and VRR works fine now just have to manually set the input to 2.1. Now with that being said the Vizio operating system SmartCast is mediocre at best. Definitely not better than Sony Android tv and LG Web Os, the remote also doesn’t have voice control like its competitors, but that doesn’t matter to me because essentially they all do the exact same thing which is allow me to watch my streaming apps. Honestly man if you’re like me and 99% of the people here who doesn’t have money to blow but want OLED picture quality then this is a no brainer. But if you want all the extra smart features and fancy operating systems then by all means spend the extra 200-600$ it helps me with my revenue lol
