Can't go a week without a Reboot
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thought I got the deal of a lifetime on an openbox 2/3'd the cost new. Then they lost the open box so I ended up getting a new one for the open box price, score! However, the enthusiasm quickly faded as this TV is plagued with bugs, and ultimately had to be replaced with another TV under warranty. The Good: -Fantastic picture. -Fairly simple UI -Automatically detects Airplay and Chromecast -has eArc HDMI input for surround sound -Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos are amazing -Automatically paired with our Sonos surround system. The Bad: -Difficult to set up and find apps on Smartcast -Often will just decide not to turn on. -Gets lost if it auto-turns off screen for burn in -No voice control -Remote has terrible ergonomics --Constantly find myself holding it upside down -Already on 2nd unit after 10 months While the weekly reboots are annoying, reading some of the other reviews on here makes me consider myself lucky. I feel like I've bought a used BMW; great tech and performance, but hilariously unreliable. Next OLED will be an LG or Sony, 100%.

Lack of Support from Both Manufacturer & Best Buy
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Repeated issues with the manufacturer's televisions. Will not purchase from again. Warranty is lacking and support for diagnosing issues is poor. This coupled with Best Buy's Geek Squad Protection Plan makes for lots of wasted money and hours. Will not purchase again.

Great picture but buggy system
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv has an amazing picture. The OLED image is amazing. However, the tv has a hard time working properly about 40% of the time. Often when you change cdmi inputs you will get audio with no video, or video with no audio. There is obviously a problem with the hand-off when you move from one input to another and it can be very frustrating. Most times this can be resolved by turning the tv off and back on. However, I find that I have had to unplug the tv for a few minutes before plugging it back in at least once per week. This is done when none of the other methods I've found work. I've been tempted to return the tv, but the picture is so dang good...

Beauty with flaws
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picture quality is one of the best out there. I love watching movies on this beauty. Cheapest price you can get for an oled. However, there’s a catch. Software is very unstable even after the firmware updates. Chrome cast is very laggy. You might want to use a Chrome TV or Apple TV instead. The TV become unresponsive for no reason and you have to unplug the TV for things to go back to normal. It happens very often, sometimes once every fews day. I hope Vizio could fix these problems, then it will be a great TV.

Great TV - Not So Great Store Management
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the 55" version of this TV in Spring 2021. While the pickup experience at the Castleton Best Buy in Indianapolis was terrible (the store manager told me I would be voiding my warranty if I took this TV home in my hatchback. To hammer the point home, they just left it sitting in the parking lot behind my car, refusing to assist in putting it in my car). Excluding the belittling experience at the store, the set itself is quite good, and well worth the price I paid, as the unit was on sale at the time. The unit was packaged excellently. Little to no chance of damage through normal shipping/delivery, including the dreaded drive home in my hatchback, so scorned by the Castleton Best Buy management. Setup was easy, though I'd recommend an extra pair of hands installing the base and carrying the set to its final destination. Based on earlier reviews, I made sure to update the firmware before doing much with the set. I've found the picture to be excellent, although there seems to occasionally be some image tearing when watching a few 4K videos on YouTube. I'm not the biggest fan of Smartcast, though it has improved. Instead of the default Smartcast interface, we're using the latest Chromecast with Google TV. An issue we have with this is, once every week or so, the TV will not start with the Chromecast remote. You have to start the TV with the either the Visio remote or the Smartphone app. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the Chromecast or the TV itself. The other issue we experienced during the first couple of weeks with the TV is that changing settings relating to the picture didn't seem to store from one viewing session to the next. Finally, after many attempts to set the picture, it finally remembered the settings. Would I recommend this TV? Yes! Especially at the we were able to purchase it. When this set is on sale, you will find no better picture anywhere for the cost. As for the purchasing experience... Buying online from the Best Buy website was quite easy, but the pickup experience was terrible. The staff at this particular store was rude, condescending, and do some degree, insulting. Threats to void the warranty because Because I wanted to transport a well packaged set in my car were petty and unprofessional. If their intent was to prevent breakage, this was the wrong way to do it. It would be way more easy to damage such a TV removing from the box and assembling it/placing it than you ever will in getting it home. Lighten up Best Buy. You're making the customer consider going elsewhere next time. People are shopping from you because they may want it today, not 10 days later. Don't discourage them in this way.

Best value for OLED TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Display is amazing out of the box. colors are bright and vivid and blacks are super black as OLEDs should be. picture quality looks the same as LG TVs (all oled screens are made by LG) and so much better than my Sony x940D. The software interface is fast and very responsive. I don't use it much as I have a Shield connected. I have noticed some CEC issues. Shield will turn on, then pass signal through TV to the sound bar but TV will not turn on. Some times everything turns on but no sound goes through the ARC. CEC works about 90% of the time though and from what i've seen CEC issues are fairly common across different manufacturers.

Great TV, excellent picture, but has a few bugs
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.WOW!!! This is a great looking TV. The blacks are so dark, that if it goes to a black screen and all your room lights are off, you will be in pitch black. The overall brightness and highlights could be a little better (under 700 nits). Contrast is great and colors are bright and vibrant. There are a lot of options for improving/changing picture. Out of the box, TV's settings are good, but it looks much better after spending some time making adjustments, using a variety of sources. It upgrades DVDs and Blu-rays very well. Noticed details in a DVD (1987 movie) I watched that I've never noticed before. The 2009 Star Trek Blu-ray has never looked better. Have only seen UHD from Amazon Prime, but that to looked phenomenal. The My Xbox One, played smoothly and the games looked fantastic! Haven't had a chance to test out the 2.1 HDMI/ 4K 120Hz yet as I don't' have a new Xbox Series X or PS5. However, there are a few negatives... When setting it up, it is very thin and feels somewhat fragile as there is only a small section where Vizio recommends holding the TV. When I mounted it to my stand, the screws that come with the TV do not seem to be long enough to hold it securely due to the thickness of the mounts. I will be replacing them with longer screws. It does take quite a while to get the whole thing set up. Between uploading new firmware, signing in to all the apps, and scanning for TV channels. However, my two BIGGEST complaints are about using it with game systems. 1) When I have my Xbox One connected, and play a game or watch a DVD or Blu-ray it works great, but if I try to switch it over to the apps, or local channels or anything else, the screen either goes black and shows nothing or will have a green flickering screen where you can barely see what is showing. The ONLY way I can fix this is to turn the TV of, unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug back in a restart TV. 2) Currently, I can only use the ONE regular HDMI port (#4) for my older Play Station and Xbox, I get a black screen if I try to connect it to either 2.1 ports (#2 and #3) or the ARC port (#1). Hopefully Vizio will fix this soon!!!

Great display, but lots of bugs
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv has some frustrating bugs that really drive me crazy sometimes - some have been fixed with software updates (eg the hdmi 2.1 ports not working with ps5) and some remain (screen staying black on boot up and requiring a hard reset). But, all of those frustrations melt away when I see how great this screen looks. For next gen gaming, this tv offers fantastic colors, dee blacks, quick refresh rate, and a good size. I can never get it to look THAT great for movies or shows (always looks a little grainy to me, though still good).

Avoid purchase until software issues are handled.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this TV now since November, and purchased it when it was on sale for 899, Bought the 5 year warranty with it as well. Honestly, I wish I had waited and didn't miss the return window. When the TV works, it looks amazing and has a great picture. You are pretty much a beta tester with this TV. It needs much more work in the software department, and there are other oleds on the market that probably do a lot better then this one. The price was great, but you get what you pay for at the end of the day. A lot of these issues were highlighted recently when I got a PS5. You have to channel through all the inputs a few times before it gets the signal, then if you activate CEC it won't work or when it comes on the screen starts flashing green until its disabled. If you get an absurd deal on this TV and don't mind testing it for Vizio, then by all means buy it. If you want something great and tested and ready to go, save and buy a better quality oled.

||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great tv if you want to save a buck and wait for VIZIO to really fix the VRR 120Hz issue via another firmware update. The latest firmware update pushed out to address these issues has not fixed them. In short, this tv does not play well with next-gen consoles with VRR and 120Hz activated. It could be that the consoles too (Xbox/PS5) need to work with other manufactures more closely to align, but right now I would recommend the LG CX over this if you are looking for the best OLED for next-gen gaming. Other than that this tv has been great so far, and at $999 its a steal for an OLED.

Great Picture... The Rest Not So Much...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the 55in model a couple of days ago. I got it home and setup was pretty easy. Immediately setup Netflix so I could check out the OLED 4K experience. Put on a HDR nature doc and was impressed with the amazing picture. I then went on to play video games, and while I still have an older, non-4k, XBox One, the upscaling was great. Then I went to setup all my all my other streaming apps, this is when I started noticing problems. I'd click on an app, nothing happens. I click on another app, same thing. Other sections of the TV worked fine, like the Vizio Free TV. I reboot the TV and no dice. I then check to see if it has a firmware update via the settings. It keeps reporting that it is up to date. I suspect this is not true as I also noticed that the date said it was December 31st 1999. I checked online with Vizio using the S/N of the unit and found that there was indeed a firmware update. I again check using the TV settings and it still reported that the TV was up to date, although the firmware revision showed that it was on the old firmware. I decided to go with their USB update method, which was it's own little pain in the butt. First, you must have a USB thumb drive that is 4GB or smaller, which is getting harder to find nowadays, because it must be formatted old school FAT. I only had an 8GB, so I had to remove the partition and create a 4GB partition. I follow their USB update procedure to the letter and nothing happens. Simply copy the two files to the USB, put the TV onto an input that has nothing on it, and plug in the drive. It is supposed to detect the files on the USB and start the update, wrong. It just keeps going to USB input looking for music or pictures. I reviewed the actual manual for this model and there is no USB update method listed, only over the internet through the settings on the TV... which still thinks it's up to date. Getting frustrated, I unplug the TV for a couple of minutes, and then try again. FINALLY, the TV detects and update and installs it. After reboot, i see the date is still 1999, and the app still don't work! Now I decide to reset the TV to factory default After reboot and initial setup, I see the data and time are now correct and the apps open, although I have to log into each one again... So I think I'm in the clear and settle down to play some XBOX and... nope. Several of my games no longer display correctly. The screen keeps blanking out and oscillating from visible to a green tinted scrambled mess! The Xbox home screen looks fine, but the games that I had been playing just fine before the firmware update, are no longer playable. I've tried different HDMI cables and ports. Made no difference. At this point I will try calling Vizio support tomorrow morning, but I have a gut feeling they will only recommend all the steps I've already taken. I will most likely be taking the TV back to Best Buy... and I won't be getting another Vizio.

Great picture, but the software issues...
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV had the potential to be great, overall great picture/color for the price as expected from an OLED. Although the software left much to be desired. Gave me and my wife so much headaches having to constantly unplug the tv due to freezing/black screen issues that have plagued many users. I decided to ride it out, instead of returning. Fortunately it has not given us much problems for the last month or so, not sure if an update fixed the issues but since then so far so good. Will update if issues return.

Two major problems in two days for a brand new TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first "smart TV" purchase. I struggled to figure out which TV to get and I settled on the OLED from Vizio after a friend told me that Vizio always had the best picture quality. I got the TV yesterday, set it up, hooked it up to my Comcast cable box via HDMI and Roku via HDMI. While watching DateLine on Comcast for about 20 minutes, got a message saying that there was an update and the TV would have to reboot (bummer-- just at the good part too). TV rebooted and started watching program again, and then all of the sudden the picture locks up. The remote would allow me to change inputs NOR turn off the TV. Here's the kicker - the power button behind the TV wouldn't turn off the TV either. Only me unplugging the TV from the power source caused the TV to come back on when I plugged it back in. Next day (today)... I turned on TV to get the serial number to open up a chat case with Vizio and while in the 'Menu', I went to 'System' and then 'Voice Remote'. I immediately got a GREY screen with the message "We are experincing a technical problem (1). Please wait... If the problem persists, restart your TV using Menu, Admin & Privacy and selecting 'Reboot TV' So to summarize : BRAND NEW TV FROM BEST BUY, PULLED BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX WITH SUPER SENSITIVE GINGER CARE WHILE SETTING UP, AND IN TWO DAYS, TWO PROBLEMS, ONE OF WHICH REMINDS ME OF Windows 95 (always locking up/always rebooting).... Overall Verdict = BAD NEWS. I will reach out to Vizio customer service to see what they can do. Otherwise, at least BestBuy gives me a 15 day window to return/replace/refund.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible TV if you buy in at the right price of $999 or less for the 55". Picture and colors are beautiful. Just as thin as the LG CX and looks amazing on the wall. The OS can be a little sluggish but it does have most apps you would want and new ones are added frequently. Currently HBOMAX is a notable omission. I've seen other reviews mention many bugs but I've only experienced a few minor hiccups. Overall strongly recommend if you want the OLED picture for less money. Spend time adjusting the picture so it meets your expectations.

Decent overall but not worth it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this TV on sale, now was it the wisest purchase? No. (Lengthy Review) I do not ever write reviews but I want potential buyers to give it some extra thought if they were considering this model. The price drops for this TV is enticing, but do not make the mistake of passing up on other brands. If I could choose again knowing what I know now, I would go Sony. LG if I really were to game at least 90% of the time when using a TV. I suppose most people either use it to game and watch content so I would look elsewhere than this first generation OLED by Vizio. Now to get straight to it, upscaling on this TV is… disappointing. If you ONLY have 4K content then this TV is a good buy. If you want to watch Hulu, DAZN, and other streaming services that are in SDR then this TV will not be your best choice. I have a 55’ 1080p Samsung TV that does pretty well with SDR. Not a huge surprise since it’s native is 1080p and that’s closer to SDR than 4K but even then I find it embarrassing that I only get better picture when it comes to 4K content (since the Samsung only goes to 1080p, clearly). Now for 4K 120. I used the option for a bit before my TV broke down, I will get to that soon. It was smooth, only problem with that was that sometimes the TV will have this green/purple tint to it. I would have to reboot the TV to get it right. There is some guy on YouTube that mentions this too if you would like to know more about it. After getting my TV repaired, I was advised to stick to 4K 60hz. It was upsetting, if I were to either wait a bit longer for other TV options to drop in price I would of had 4K 120hz, no problem. Not even that, I would have settled with Sony’s 4K 60hz options because they have better upscaling (so I have heard). Upon purchasing this TV, after a month the TV stopped turning on. No longer did I have minor issues anymore like having to reboot the TV to get my PlayStation to show in HDMI, or SmartCast to work, the TV would not turn on whatsoever so I guess that ended all my problems (lol). Luckily, I have warranty and the Geek Squad pulled through to replace the motherboard. If you for whatever reason get this TV, get the warranty. The positives of this TV are that you can save picture settings as a preset. The 4K quality as I mentioned is pretty good. I’ll let you decide if based on this review if it even is worth a shot. I can only advise you at best after living with this TV for not so long. Note: There is banding, but as far as I know there is banding on every OLED panel. So if you hate banding, do not even bother with any OLED. I could be wrong, especially since newer models have released. Get you a LED TV if banding is a problem. Back on topic, 4K HDR YouTube content especially looks rich. - FOR GAMERS: I also think the input lag when gaming is a bit slow, but then again I also play PC on a monitor so I may have been accustomed to faster response time. For most people, I think the response time of this TV will be fine. It is not as fast as LG I believe but if you are accustomed to playing on a TV you will be fine. - SmartCast would sometimes not load due to whatever error but rebooting the TV is a fix. I just did not expect to pay over 1K for a TV and have these minor problems. To be fair, after getting the TV fixed I haven’t ran into many issues. Even so, I would recommend looking elsewhere. TL;DR: If you are going to purchase this TV then get the warranty. Be prepared for bugs and having to reboot the TV now and then. Lastly, stick to 4K HDR content if you intend on getting this TV. For the extra cash, consider another company if you really want an OLED.

Amazing panel, poor design, poor build.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok so it goes like this. Their panel is beautiful. It is an excellent OLED panel that is exceptional in many areas, but it stops there. The build quality is poor because they used cheep plastic that isn’t solid mold. The design of where the ports are is awful being bottom loaded for the majority, and the side loaded one doesn’t allow a firestick to be put in it. I would imagine they did this on purpose so people use SmartCast. Their SmartCast UI isn’t horrible but it also isn’t amazing. Their settings UI is poor. I’ve noticed bugs in the SmartCast system upon turn on, I’ve noticed Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and all around their Ui needs help. It’s also blurry and not crisp for some reason. If the TV had a better Ui, and better back bulls not using cheap hallow plastic it would be much easier to recommend, because the display and picture quality is something they got 100% right. Our unit came scratched up on the back, with a gap between the glossy plastic bar that the display is supposed to be glued down to. Seeing that did not instill confidence in longevity. With a few adjustments this can be a solid product in the future, but it’s not even that cheap regularly so seeing the skimp on build quality is the biggest issue.

Great tv with one big problem
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv as expected with OLED has perfect blacks it isn't the brightest tv but it does produce enough nits for impactful HDR. It has HDR10+ which is rare . Color after calibration is very accurate . The one huge problem this tv has is if you use an hdmi 2.1 device the tv will not turn on the next time you try to start it up. You will have to either unplug it and replug it in or you will have remember to reboot the tv before shutting it off . This is pretty ridiculous and is a shame sense the rest of the tv is very well done.

||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.-Picture quality is great. You got all the popular HDR formats HDR10 and +, Dolby Vision HLG..... -Software functionalities are somewhat loudsy. One example: when you turn on the TV, it never remembers the last connection (HDMI), so you have to hit the Home button, then switching back to the HDMI connection that you set previously. -I don't have the opportunities to test this TV at 4K 120hz, but to my understandings from some YouTube reviews, it's not working as expected at the time (Maybe will be in the future).
