Excellent image quality when watching Netflix or when another high quality source is pushed to it. There was a update in late December that addressed the HDMI 2.1 issues in terms of ps5 and a lot of the gaming issues. There are still random glitches when the TV starts up when HDMI sources are connected. If you can catch this TV on sale under $1000 it's a great TV but at it's regular price you're better off spending the extra money and going up to the LG CX just to avoid the glitches Vizio TVs are known for.

    To many software issues

As a Product Design Engineer and Vizio fan and past customer I recently purchased an ‘OLED55-H1’ and Elevate Soundbar combo. After “updating the software” and reading the manual front to back then refining the settings for my needs I ended up experiencing a laundry list of software issues and unstable settings. After setup and a month of use I also have some suggestions to consider for improvement and some of the many software issues I’ve experienced. I called Vizio tech support to help me work through these issues but that turned out to be a sadly poor experience. For example: I explained that I was connected directly from my router to the TV but the TV was only connected via Wi-Fi and in the networking menu under ‘Wired Connection’ it states Disconnected. I asked how I can change to a direct connection to take advantage of the additional speed of my 1Gig connection as opposed to the limited speed of Wi-Fi, which may also help to clear up some of the other issues I’m having with sound drops from MP4 files. She told me don’t worry about it as long as I was connected via Wi-Fi that would be fine. I explained my old $235 dollar replaced Vizio TV connected directly and I had no sound issues so I would like to connect this one directly too. She replied, just leave it alone because this a new TV and it uses Wi-Fi so I asked why in the TV menu under the networking ‘Wired Connection’ it states Disconnected, connected to Wi-Fi and she didn’t know. Every issue I asked help for was met with illogically conceived ideas to cover for her lack of knowledge, so finally I gave up. If I could do over I would have never bought this TV, it’s just been so frustrating. Issues I’m having (I have this TV connected to my computer and use as a TV/ Monitor. MP4’s on my computer and YouTube have significant sound drops • Black screen while typing or reading after about 5 to 10 min. I’ve changed the Sleep Timer from on to off and Auto Power Off along with other combinations. Sometimes it will not blackout off for a day or two then starts blacking out again without making any menu changes! Very aggravating. Please fix issue and make it stable. Update, now it always happens, ultra aggraveting • Extreme mouse curser lag for any picture settings other than ‘Game’ at first I thought it was a mouse issue but after trying 3 different types of mice wired and Wi-Fi and different drivers the result was always the same. The curser is only normal under ‘Game’ which is painfully limiting • I have a second Vizio TV (used only as a TiVo TV) next to this new OLED (used primarily as a PC monitor) and every time I use the remote both TV’s react like twins. Tech support said the only solution is to separate the TV’s I told her that’s not a solution as I need them next to each other, she replied that’s the only solution. “OK if so then I need to replace one of these Vizio TV’s with a different brand TV. Guess which one will be going. Actually I’m guessing there’s a different code or pin I could program into one of the remotes (I was hoping tach support could help but I’ll have to look into that myself) but if so the person whom I spoke with had no clue. • Power indicator is ‘on” but no light anywhere to show it’s on and ironically I don’t see a Vizio emblem on the front of the TV or Elevate soundbar either. Guess their marketing manager was on vacation that day • About half the time when I turn on my PC the OLED turns on like a monitor would but the other half it doesn’t turn on. ‘Update, it doesn’t turn on at all anymore’ Please stabilize (the HDMI on the PC’s graphic card is also a matching HDMI 2.1) Hopefully these will be addressed in upcoming software updates. Suggestions for improvements: 1. Allow the consumer to name create and save multiple points for all settings. As I found out when TV gets unplugged or you lose power you have to start all over trying to remember all the settings you created. Having different set points would also be helpful to quickly switch between different viewing profiles like movies, TV and PC monitor modes. 2. The HDMI cable plugs and others in the back must be orientated correctly to plug in but they plug in upside down and it’s dark and hard to see where the plug is and what the correct orientation is. There are just too much fumbling and mumbling obscenities while trying to insert the cables. I imagine the receptacles are upside-down to help keep the cables straight however it would be a much more pleasant experience for the consumer if the receptacles were flipped opposite and they plugged in ‘down’ so you could actually see the receptacle, and it’s orientation to make plugging in so easy and just loop the cable over a little molded in hook a few inches above it. 3. Of course the following come at a cost but the increased performance would allow Vizio to sell more units even with the added cost. For the Elevate soundbar, increase the diameter of the case and speaker’s 25 to 35% and rear speaker’s 10% beyond that as they are too small. When the ends rotate up there is significant loss in frontal sound. I can’t hear the up firing speakers at all. It may be I’m too close to soundbar and the sound is hitting behind me. I’m sure many people that are not in the perfect position to hear the up firing speakers either. Solution- allow the rotating speaker ends to be tuned to the best position for each person so when they rotate up they stop at the same position the consumer programs for the best individual experience. I didn’t cover the software issues I’ve experienced using it as a TV but they aren’t as serious as those I’ve experienced using it as a PC monitor. If you’re planning to use this as just a TV then I think you may be fine. If you’re planning to use this TV for a PC monitor at all, the Vizio OLED is clearly not designed to be used as a monitor so you should strongly consider the LG 48” OLED instead. LG’s software is much more refined and designed to for use as a PC monitor too.

I have had a bunch of vizio TVs in the past and this is my first oled. When I brought the tv home I was under the impression I could play my ps5 with 4K 120 but that is not enabled at this time. I am also have issues where the tv will randomly turn itself off. It is having horrizontal lines every once in a while and If that is not enough the CEC only works half the time. Besides all the quirks, nothing can beat the picture quality to value the vizio oled brings. The blacks are superb and the visuals are spectacular. Picture quality is excellent. The audio of the tv is just average but if you spend money on a soundbar the experience is amazing. You would easily be able to enjoy this tv with or without a soundbar. The soundbar would just bring this tv to the next level.

It's a good OLED TV for the money. I got my 55' at Black Friday 2020 when it was on sale for $900. At that price point you really can't go wrong. I also own an LG CX and C1 and those genuinely look a bit sharper than this TV. The software updates have drastically improved this TV and I have had no issues (as of the update in September 2021 or so) with 4K 120hz on my xbox series x. For gaming this is a good OLED now but I'd still choose an LG C1. If you're truly seeking a value option, this is definitely it. This is a good purchase at the right price and one I do recommend!

Saw it on sale for $900 after just launching around Black Friday and took the leap on the cheapest OLED I'd ever seen. Knowing LG is the one who produces the panels, I just needed hope Vizio could make something with the rest of the TV. I can't speak for the sound quality, as I'm using a soundbar, and I've exclusively only used a PS5 for content on the TV, and what I can say is: THE BAD (I'll start here because some issues have been fixed by, or are being looked into update wise and are isolated to use with a PS5) - VRR isn't currently available for PS5 so the 2.1 ports do not work. At all. No visual or audio. BUT the other ports work fine for 4k60fps with HDR so no major loss since games aren't reaching 4k120fps anyways.. but still annoying (vizio in pursuit of a patch) - Originally had an intermittent sound bar issue where no sound would come from optical, but a software patch has eliminated this issue. - The plastic panel on the back of my television had a 1/4 inch gap where it was not installed correctly. Not sure if this is a one in a million thing or not. I personally don't mind, as the TV works flawlessly, but keep an eye out if you get one. THE GOOD - Incredible picture. If you want OLED and don't want to pay LG prices, it's the same panel. - Updates are slowly fixing the few operational issues I've noticed. FINAL VERDICT, It's a new piece of tech with some bugs being worked out (seemingly only PS5 users) If you aren't concerned with 4k120fps on a ps5 right this second, want an OLED, and see this TV for quite a bit cheaper than an LG, BUY IT. Watch some reviews from TV guys on YouTube and Google whether there has been patches for stuff if you need more convincing either direction. I'll try to remember to update the review if/when they patch the PS5 2.1 issues.

I've been wanting an OLED since they were first offered for sale, I just couldn't afford them. Thank you, Vizio, for providing one at a more affordable price! The picture quality is breathtaking, as only an OLED can deliver. I've had a few issues with the firmware, but its being updated fairly regularly. As another review mentioned, remember to remove the cable access doors on the back of the set BEFORE you attach any mounting brackets.

If you’re reading this review you’ve probably read dire warnings elsewhere of firmware bugs that make this TV a terrible choice. As of 2/2022, my TV has the latest firmware and has very few noticeable issues. The only issues I’ve had has been intermittent freezes of some apps which rarely you have to turn the TV off and then back on again. I find the interface to be pretty snappy overall and works well. I do not have a ps5 to test the 4K 120hz, but I do have a pc capable of pushing it so I may try that out eventually, but supposedly it has been fixed For picture, if you stack this TV against other OLED and Mini LED displays it won’t come out on top, but when you find it on sale it is the absolute lowest price among comparable TVs. I put it in a well lit room and I find it to be plenty bright enough, and the colors, black levels, and HDR effects of an OLED is best described as surreal when you have grown accustomed to other panel types, especially moving from an older TV like I did. My gripe about the picture quality is that I feel like the image processor in the TV is a little ill-equipped for being Vizios top tier of TVs. At first I thought it was due to streaming content, but then I got a UHD disc player and saw the exact same pixelating artifact playing a movie from a disc. It’s most obvious when you have a low motion subject against a fast moving background, like a camera focused on some spinning in circles. They will have this heavily pixelated halo around them and the background will all have compressive quality loss. It’s a very specific setting and is usually a short lived scene when there is one, but it’s there and it bugs me just a little. Cosmetically the TV itself is attractive due to how minimal the display is and the ability to use the stand as a sound bar shelf is handy, if not less than elegant due to me using an older sound bar that I already had. It has several plastic trim pieces that can cover the cable connections, but they’re just more pieces to keep track of if you wall mount because they are obscured by my full motion mount frame. You can’t see them when mounted against a wall anyways, so a minor gripe but something to keep in mind if you plan on using a VESA mount and having the back of the tv visible. For sound, I have not even tested the TVs built in speakers once. My only problem therefore is that I attempted to watch a studio Ghibli movie on Blu-ray and the particular combination of the TV and my UHD player (Sony UBP-X700) sent zero sound on pass through. Apparently there are so many high end audio codecs and competition these days that you run into some device incompatibilities, which required me to run a separate cable direct from the player to my sound bar. Fortunately my sound bar automatically changes sources. Not sure Vizio would take blame for this, but I don’t care if audio is a lower quality plain stereo, it just needs to work without awkward workarounds. So bottom line, there are some quirks but I got it for way less than I could have gotten the same size OLED in another brand for, and the picture quality has made me want to relive so many great movies that I own. It’s just a joy to watch. The issues are overall minor, but they’re there and don’t exactly scream “flagship” TV. In the end, my 5 star review is a value proposition and I enjoy my tv very much.

The TV has a nice picture. I hung it in a refinished basement as a means to watch TV and it looks flawless. The apps leave some room to improve, and if you buy this -- get a sound bar. I expected to see things like HBO max but it was not there. It's fine for me since I can just stream from my phone. I have Samsungs everywhere else in the house but wanted to try the OLED and the price was right.

Vizio Oled latest firm ware update 5.10.14.1-1 as far as I can tell eliminates the rise black levels during VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). VRR also works as intended with the frames rate and Refresh rate coinciding with one another. The Vizio on board speakers are low quality but for the average viewer can be tolerable if a sound bar is out of budget. For console gamers the input lag practically instantaneous and I find little difference between my Samsung CHG70 monitor and the Vizio Oled. The response time is on par with my monitor since the panel oled and naturally has a extremely quick response time. Lastly the percieved brightness is better than most oleds in the world but better than all oleds sold in US. The Vizio is only a buy if you value picture quality and gaming features only. Any other feature like a great motion, snappy/cohesive UI, and a good on board speaker system is absent from the VIZIO OLED. If you seek any of those features look elsewhere.

Excellent TV, the best I've ever owned. This is my first OLED TV, I was really scared to drop $1,200-1,500 on one, but I could do $899 easily. Coming from the nineties when we had CRT TVs that could do perfect black, this brought back memories. Now instead of small TVs and square screens, we have giant widescreens and perfect blacks. Watching this TV makes me feel like I won the lottery! I feel like I've made it! Just an example, I've been on a 4K Bluray shopping spree in recent years. The 4k movies are an excellent upgrade to the original blurays on a regular LED TV. On an OLED, the blurays look mind-blowing. Casino Royale and Heat are incredible. So is Blade and Master and Commander. There are a lot of complaints about this TV. I had few things to complain about, but everything seemed perfect out of the box aside from some terribly placed HDMI and power cord inputs. Someone complained about the TV taking long to power up but that's because it comes in Eco-Mode out of the box. You can turn on Quick Start for faster powering. Warning, this TV box is incredibly fat and tall. My other Insignia 55" fit in the same SUV, this one didn't. Since I only lived down the road, we tried to fit it on its back but a nosy Best Buy worker came out to warn us that if we did, our receipt would be voided. I realized she wasn't responsible for that, if we ever took it back, the camera outside would probably be played back and the manager would use it as an excuse to deny a return. Based on my experience with TVs, selling my old ones, watching Youtube videos, this really isn't a problem anymore. Many other stores like Walmart and Target don't really care how you load your TVs. I'm not sure why Best Buy is using it as an excuse to void warranties. It's kind of a bad practice that makes me want to take my business elsewhere. From research online, LED TVs seem to have no problems when transported horizontally. It was just plasmas that had problems because of the way they were built. And obviously, plasmas aren't sold anymore. I would be more concerned about what happens between the time the TV leaves the store and is transported to its final location, LOL.

If you want a TV that has an amazing picture at a low price this is the one. Picture on it is phenomenal. Drawbacks on is the software. I’ve never seen a smart TV with such horrid software/smart hub that was irresponsive and just plain out doesn’t work. Even using the TV on standalone with a device was a difficult task on its own. Speakers are very underwhelming aswell so invest in a sound bar/surround sound system. Overall it’s a great OLED panel with terrible software. If software can be rectified it would be a bang for your buck.

As everyone mentions the Picture quality is very good but the bugs are omnipresent. When you turn the TV, very often you only get a black screen, because the Smartcast App has somewhat crashed, You need to power cycle the TV to restore it , I mean hard core unplugging by power cylcle. Also, the TV does not support Bluetooth speakers or headphones. I assume it was present but it is not. Also, there is no WEB Browsing app not does it support FUBO TV. The APP arrangement is painful and there is no way to remove unused app and keep only what you need.

Hello Alex, thank you for taking time to leave us your feedback today. This TV is not designed to output audio over Bluetooth. You could purchase a Bluetooth transmitter and connect it to this TV to listen over Bluetooth. This TV also uses our SmartCast Platform which offers a host of built in apps, as well as support for Google's Chromecast, Apple's AirPlay 2, and voice support for SIRI, Google Home, and Alexa. You are not able to manually download additional apps, however new apps are added to the platform often. If you find there is an app you want to watch that is not on SmartCast you may be able to cast it using Chromecast or Apple AirPlay from your phone or mobile device. VIZIO

Let me start by saying the picture on this tv is great. Love the quality of OLED for the price. Unfortunately that is where my positivity with this set ends. From purchase I have had continued issues with CEC/EARC, audio issues, power issues, handoff issues etc. The price came in lower than competitor OLEDs at launch but hindsight might argue my choice.

When bought the TV, I was pretty happy with it. As time has gone on, I'm very unhappy with it. The TV has problems when showing dimly lit scenes where it looks like the shadows are moving around and objects in the foreground look like a blurry fog moving around. Also, when anything is shown in letterbox format, there's white lines at the bottom and top of the screen. At other times, it gets a shimmer when the scene changes. Other times, the picture starts to get fuzzy and the colors look pastel and the reds are amplified, other parts always seem to have to much yellow no matter what I do. Other times, the colors look like they're bleeding over. Most of these problems seem to get worse the longer the TV stays on. Sometimes I have to go set up my settings again because it resets for some reason. Sometimes it shuts off on it's own, and when I turn it back on, the power light comes on and nothing else, or it comes on with sound and no picture. After unplugging it, everything works. A few days ago. it started to make a loud squealing sound and the picture went crazy. I called visio and the first guy was helpful and I sent pictures like he asked. the next person said they didn't see anything wrong and asked for video. I sent low resolution because thats all I can send through email. Another one calls me back and says now they want high def video of me going into the home screen and connect to an app and then picking something and play it. We went round and round in circles when I explained that I can only send 2.4 megabytes of data through my email and she insited I could. I finally reached my limit and told her I'm going to leave a bad review for this TV. She said "I could do whatever I wanted, but its not the TV, it our provider. ?? I've had 2 HD TV's in that spot and the 24 inch just to check it out afterward and no problems. No problems with any of the other 3 in the house, so it's not Xfinity. I will never buy any product with the word Visio on it. I talked to The manager at best buy and showed him some pictures and video and he said it's the motherboard and Visio is known for making it as hard as they can to get anything serviced.

Great Screen with a Laggy UI

A quick overview: This TV looks great. It's my first OLED TV and it delivers basically what you want. It uses the same screen as the LG TVs, and that's what you get. The firmware has gotten better (how the TV displays an image) and the software is fine. The biggest issue is the TVs processor, it's too slow to handle most of the Smart TV capabilities (built-in Chromecast) you expect to just work. Pros: LG Screen Perfect blacks Good amount of settings to tune/calibrate the TV Multiple presets that you can change Dolby Vision and HDR10+ 4 HDMI 2.1 ports Optical Audio port Good brightness (3 settings) Price 120hz and a Game Mode Cons: Slow and Laggy UI (due to slower processor) Vizio slow to make updates to firmware Some oddities when supposed to be displaying nothing Space on the Cable Management channels At the time of this review, I've owned this for about 18 months and have had a pretty good experience. I don't game on this, so I can't comment on if it's good or not, but there is a game mode and does support 120hz. I've watched content via 4k Blu-Rays (on Xbox One S), streaming via the built-in Chromecast, and streaming via a Roku 2 and more recently a Roku Ultra. Blu-Rays look great, if they support HDR or Dolby Vision it looks incredible. My first watch was Interstellar and man, that looks fantastic compared to anything I've watched it on before. Standard Blu-Rays look good as well, no issues there. Streaming via the built-in Chromecast is generally not great, but not horrible. It can get you by if you have nothing else, but if you are watching HDR, Dolby Vision, or 4k content, you'll be in for a bad viewing. The processor this TV uses is definitely where they cut costs and it shows. Apps will lock up and have to be restarted, video will freeze for a few seconds, random pixelation when the picture changes, blue ghosting lines appear randomly, picture gets noisy, etc... I dealt with it for a long time before finally upgrading to the Roku Ultra which solved everything I just mentioned. Letting something dedicated process everything while letting the TV just display is perfect. At the time of purchase this was by far the cheapest 55" OLED TV on the market. Cutting costs on the processor shows a lot, but if you have something dedicated like the Roku Ultra, AppleTV, Nvidia Shield, etc., you shouldn't really have an issue. I mainly watch a slightly lit room (mid-day with blinds shut) or at night when it's completely dark, I've had NO issues with brightness on my TV, even when there is a decent amount of natural light coming into the room. Audio, I never get whey people complain about TV speakers, especially for higher end TVs. If you're willing to dole out $1k+ on a TV, get a soundbar at least. I've got LG soundbar coupled with this. TV speakers always suck. Overall, I can recommend this TV if the LG's or Sony's or Samsung's now are out of budget/range. But only if you also get a dedicated streaming device, as the built-in chromecast is just too laggy due to the processor. I've heard some people say VRR is supposed to be supported for the PS5, but as I don't plan on gaming on this, I haven't looked into it. The display is great, colors are awesome, blacks are perfect, good amount of settings, 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, bad processor... This definitely gets the job done and OLED is unmatched.

Every time I ask Vizio about the issue, they say they were unaware of the issue, despite forums having pages of people complaining about it. It's been over a month now. No image from Onkyo and Denon receivers. Amazing picture, but this is a huge issue. Software is also really buggy. Vizio needs to solve this issue.

I have this TV for a month now I think. The image quality is very good, It's an OLED so you know what you're getting here. The problem with this TV is the firmware, It's pretty leggy at times and I found that I need to disconnect it from the power occasionally. But all in all, for the price I got it for I think it's a good buy, I would purchase it again if it would be under 1000 USD.

Great picture the only downfall for me is Vizio has removed some of the commands from the remote profile. The discreet input commands and power on, power off are gone, Making Harmony remotes less useful. You can get around the power commands but the discreet input commands being gone are a bigger problem.

The picture quality is amazing! Every thing you would expect from an Oled tv. I will say it had some bugs to work out when I initially got the set but with the release of the latest firmware it has improved. With all of the features such as hdmi 2.1, vrr and gaming in 4K @120 hz it’s also future proof. If you are in the market for an Oled don’t pass this up.

I would give it 5 stars. But as good as this OLED TV is, Vizio has not finished with the software aspect of the tv. But if you are getting just to watch movies, netflix, or any other of the streaming services, the picture quality is ON POINT. Like me if you have the new XBOX and PS5. Everything is not as smoothly as it could. When updates start to iron out the bugs.
