Very poor viewing angle and some glitches

The TV has good picture quality as long as you are sitting directly in front of the TV, and I mean directly in front of the TV. If you view from even a slight angle the picture color is very distorted. The TV has an Enhanced Viewing Angle setting, but there is absolutely no noticeable improvement with this setting on. I am very disappointed with how poor the viewing angle performance is. I expected better from a brand like Vizio and a TV at this price. I paired this with a Vizio 5.1.2 soundbar which I love. Since I mostly view from sitting directly in front of the TV and I do not want to deal with the hassle of returning and starting over, I will live with it. But buyer beware, I am not exaggerating, the viewing angle performance is awful.
Additionally, there are other glitches. The Volume Control display does not always display. This is very random. Sometime I turn on the TV and when I adjust the volume it does not display the volume level. So I have no idea what level the TV is at. Also, there are time when the Volume Control display is very delayed, like up to 15 seconds after I adjust the volume, the TV will then show change I made. Finally, when you turn the TV on there is an information bar that pops in from the top of the screen that shows some info such as time, input, picture quality, etc. This bar usually automatically disappears after a couple of seconds, but sometimes it bugs out and stays on screen. So you have to turn the TV off and then on again or play with the setting and then hit the back button. Not a huge deal but annoying.

Replacing my 50-inch VIZIO with this 58-inch VIZIO is an amazing improvement. Love the colors and the setup was a breeze. Lots of options for video, sound, pairing, etc. Using WIFI for internet access and no issues over the last several months. The best viewing angle is straight on as colors seem to fade a little when viewing from a right or left angle. It has the SmartCast platform with lots of apps, Bluetooth connectivity, voice remote, Chromecast, and Apple Airplay 2.
Overall, I am very pleased with my upgrade to this 58-Inch VIZIO Smart TV from my 50-inch VIZIO.

I bought this as an open box item after seeing it hanging on the wall. Just $230 for a 58" TV with an excellent picture seemed like a deal too good to pass up. I was planning to buy a smaller TV, maybe 43" to 50", but this was even better. It's 4K, too. Once I got it set up at home, I realized the sound is good, too.
One caution is that this is a big TV. If you're not hanging it on the wall, make sure you have a TV stand large enough to support it. Fortunately, I was able to clear off a coffee table that suffices until I get a larger TV stand.
FYI on open box TVs, the staff wrapped it very carefully in bubble wrap and loaded it into the car for me.

Only complaint is the preloaded buttons for different streaming services cannot be customized.

This Vizio TV is good but not excellent. The quick set up printed guide was not good at all. The ignored putting the step in where you are to plug in the TV. Instead, they went went showed a video game set up or something. Also, the remote has the least amount of features of any TV remote I have ever seen. The voice command does not have any guide for it. The picture setting are okay at best, and I will need to have someone color calibrate the TV. On the plus side, the TV sounds good and I really like the Smart Cast feature.

We've had this TV over 2 years. This TV is the best purchase we ever made from Best Buy. Ever. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
We've been best Buy customers for 25 years and have purchased everything from tvs (8 or so), headphones (at leat 15 times), computers and peripherals, software, phones, an ebike, appliances for very room inn the house (10+) and many more.
The in-store sales representative went out of their way to help. The online specs and FAQ quickly answered all of our follow up questions.
I had heard that Visio offered a great value for the quality feature set compared to the competition in this space. My experience absolutely confirms this.
If you are looking for an EXCEPTIONAL video experience and EXCELLENT audio experience out of the box i cannot recommend this tv more highly.

A Must Have For The Price

This is my third 4K TV to own, and the first with Quantum Dot Technology. Rest assured, there IS a difference. The screen goes all the way to the bezels of the TV, and the colors are extremely vivid.
There are plenty of settings to make things how you want them to be. The TV has Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR10, and multiple other high-end abilities. The smoothness of the images is great too. Again, you’ll have to change some settings to get it to be optimal, but all in all, this is the 4K TV I’ve been wanting since they were on the market.
Would I have gotten a better one if I had more money? Probably.
That being said, the 58 inch model of this TV at the sale price of $599.99 is more than a good deal. It’s a great deal. I don’t think you’ll find another TV at that price that is in the same league as this one.

Great TV for price. Great for gaming. Had a few issues with the Vizio tv operating system. It freezes and I’ve needed to choose the Restart Tv option in the Admin settings to get things to work right. Hope Vizio improves its operation system.

A Deeper Visual Experience For Movies and Games

I recently needed a new 4K television since my previous 4K TV started having issues with Contrast. I decided to explore the realm of Quantum LED televisions with the Vizio 58” M Series.
I use my television to watch streaming services like Netflix, Disney Plus, HBO Max, Apple TV, and Movies Anywhere. I also use my television for gaming on my PS5 and Xbox Series X. in fact, I would say the picture quality in gaming is the most important feature to me since I am all about immersion.
Setup:
Like most televisions, the Vizio M Series is almost ready out of the box. It’s ready to be mounted to the wall right away. Now, if you’re like me, and like your television displayed on a stand, then you will need to install the two metal feet stands that are in the box. It was nice to have a height option when installing the feet. What this means is that you can have the TV low to the stand surface or you can install the screws so that the TV is resting higher allowing for a soundbar to rest comfortably under the bottom of the Vizio.
The Vizio M asks to be connected to a Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable source so that it can be updated. The updates only take a few minutes or you can skip this process and return to it later.
If you have multiple HDMI cables then I suggest that you go into the Vizio Input settings and rename them to the proper input name (Xbox, Cable, etc.) otherwise it can be confusing to navigate with the menu interface. But more on that later.
If you are setting up your Xbox Series X to this Vizio, then I am going to give you some pointers and save you some frustration. First, go into the Xbox settings>General TV & Display. At first, the Xbox will state that your TV isn’t 4K capable, etc. What you will want to do next is go into the Vizio settings and turn on Game Mode>Advanced Picture>Gaming Engine. Turn on the following: Game Low Latency Variable, Refresh Rate, Game HDR and enable HDMI 2.0. At this point, your Series X will now recognize that you have a 4K TV that has all options (except 120fps) ready.
Visuals:
Everyone has their visual preferences when it comes to their TVs, so I won’t get into the plethora of visual options. Just know that this Vizio M’s default settings and modes are fantastic right out of the box.
I noticed the quality difference immediately during a commercial. The contrast was sharper and the colors had more definition just in a 1080p commercial alone. I then started browsing my Netflix library which has a lot of anime movies and shows. I watched Castlevania with a new appreciation for its wonderful colors. I then went over to my Movies Anywhere app and watched some John Wick 3 (a movie that offers a grand scale of contrasting scenes). It was during John Wick 3 that I noticed that deeper blacks were being shown on screen whereas, on my previous LED TV, the blacks were a dull ‘primer paint’ black. From what I understand, this Vizio has more dimming zones which allow for better contrast. When you watch a movie or show that has 4K Dolbyvision enabled, you WILL notice and appreciate them.
I then fired up my PS5 and resumed my game of Hades which has comic book-style visuals and is fast-paced. Again, the colors were sharper compared to my previous 4K TV that I had been playing on just a day before. Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Guilty Gear Strive to name a few are games that benefitted from the Quantum LED visuals.
Smart TV:
The Vizio M is a Smart TV foremost. This is NOT an Android TV. I mention and emphasize this because there isn’t a ‘store’ that you can download apps from. A case in point is that there isn’t a dedicated HBO Max app within the Vizio. You cannot download it. So, what you have to do is utilize the Smartcast or Chromecast feature(s). This requires you to use your HBO Max (or other streaming apps) on your mobile device and sync it with the Vizio M, allowing you to stream to your television. It’s not a deal-breaker. It would just be easier if there was a dedicated app within the Vizio instead of me relying on my phone to project the entertainment to the TV. I hope that there will be updates to the apps down the road.
Gaming:
The Vizio Quantum M has a Pro Gaming Engine feature. What this does is makes for a better gaming experience by reducing input lag and reduces screen tearing when playing. Low latency is extremely important in game-like Warzone or fighting games like the aforementioned, Guilty Gear Strive. The Variable Refresh Rate doesn’t increase the framerate to 120 frames per second, this Vizio M only allows for 60fps at best. That said, it’s nice to know that Vizio developed their television with gamers in mind.
Interface:
The interface with the Vizio Quantum M is hit and miss for me. I appreciate the translucent menu screens making it easier to see the immediate changes to settings instead of backing out of several ‘pages’ only to have to retrace my steps to the settings page again. However, when selecting the Input option, the translucent menu works against you to see which Input you’re trying to scroll sideways towards. And if you linger on an Input option for a couple of seconds then the TV assumes that's what you wanted and will switch to said Input. I highly suggest that you change the Input names as soon as possible, otherwise, you are going to get frustrated trying to remember what is connected to Input 1, Input 2, etc.
I will give praise to the voice recognition feature that is built into the remote. Holding down on the microphone icon and saying “Switch to PlayStation 5” or “Watch Netflix” and then having the Vizio smoothly switch is pretty amazing. Just remember to release the button when you’re done speaking.
Great Quantum Television:
At the end of the day, this Vizio 58” M Class Quantum TV provides a great viewing and gaming experience that should last. Whether you’re buying your first 4K television or are looking to upgrade to a Quantum LED TV, I believe that you will be happy with this television and what it has to offer.

Solid purchase. Vizio provides great value for the dollar and they have done it again. Set provides plenty of options to tweak the picture to taste. Set up was a little wonky, had to perform a hard reset 3 times before being able to walk all the way through the set up process, but no issues since then. Tons of built in apps, would have loved a web browser. Happy with picture and audio in different lighting conditions and with different types of content (movies, sports, etc.) Connections are what you expect, the ac plug is awkwardly place for my installation but that's nitpicking. No physical buttons except power (on bottom left - not an obvious placement) so I hope we don't lose the remote. Would recommend as a solid choice for family room or bedroom.

Image quality is great but he sound went out after about a year and Vizio never sent the technician they said they would, so I was forced to get a speaker/sound bar. Every time it updates, I have issues with it responding and I have to power cycle it. Also, it randomly turns itself off while I am watching.

Great TV, Intermitent Annoying Issues

We researched the best budget gaming TV to buy and found this one. We do truly love it but have had some intermitent glitches that can't be resolved even through Best Buy and Vizio technical support.
1. First the TV wouldn't turn on with remote or TV button. Did a power cycle and it was fixed.
2. TV remote again - got a new remote
3. Sometimes we turn the TV on and the Home menu with all icons is blank, just the top bar (no icons) and a black screen. Not black. We have to use the remote voice feature to navigate. Again we power cycle and it is ok for most of the time.
4. The TV power button on the TV blinks sometimes and I read online that means something is failing, but we have only had the TV less than 6 months

Was a decent price point at the time for a UHD 4k TV, but now, less than 2 years later, the screen has begun to act up. There are random lines strobing on and off the screen. Resetting the TV has done nothing to fix it and its outside of warranty after the first year.

This was a kind of sweet and sour purchase. I bought it because I wanted American Made! It came up on Google when I did a search. What it didn't tell me was they started expanding out to China which is precisely what I didn't want! Overall the picture is good once you take it off some of the default settings, The Customer service has been good although also outsourced and for the price the TV seems to be performing well and works good with the Vizio Surround Sound system I'll review next. Overall a good TV for the money but disappointing to find out it's from China! I've been more of a Sony Guy and if I had it to do over I may have made a different decision.

In the store the color was amazing, that’s what caught our attention. When we finally received TV(delayed due to someone dropping it) it was open on the bottom. We begin the set up and it was beautiful but days later it began shutting off , rebooting in the middle of the show and just completely dark screen. Called Best Buy they tried to help over the phone unsuccessful. Then they sent out Geek squad with a new motherboard, it worked for about two weeks then began that same process. Last week they replaced the motherboard for the second time, let’s see how long this one lasts. Very disappointed in the Vizio, but happy that I have the total tech warranty.
