      VIZIO SmartCast Display's allow our cusotmers access to thousands of Chromecast-capable applications through the Google Play Store or iOS App Store. This includes many major network apps, streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, home media apps such as Plex, and the ability to cast a Chrome Tab from the Chrome browser on a computer. While an external tuner is required to watch over the air programming, sold separately, the VIZIO SmartCast platform enables our customer’s access to non-traditional viewing methods. VIZIO

      Thank you for the feedback. To make sure you're getting the best quality possible, make sure you're connected with an HDMI cable to a Hi-Definition device (like a cable/satellite box). You can also adjust the picture settings on this display by using the PIC button on your remote to change between picture modes. Using VIZIO SmartCast App on a compatible Android or iOS device you can also adjust individual picture values like Brightness, Sharpness, Color, and Motion settings. VIZIO

      Sorry this Display didn't work out for you. The SmartCast App is only necessary to setup the Display for Casting, and to access advanced settings. Once the Display has been connected to the internet, and you've adjusted the display and audio settings to your preference, the basic remote will work to adjust audio, select inputs, and power the Display On and Off. You wouldn't have to use the SmartCast app for basic functions. Since SmartCast uses Google Cast technology to cast content from mobile device like phones or tablet, if you hired a babysitter, and they used an application you don't have, like Crackle, Vudu, or Hulu they could watch that content on your display using their account. All without having to sign into your display at all. VIZIO

Our customers have access to an app library of over one thousand Chromecast-capable applications through the Google Play Store or iOS App store. This includes many major network apps, streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, home media apps such as Plex, and the ability to cast a Chrome Tab from the Chrome browser on a computer. To watch a cast capable application simply open the app on your smart phone or tablet and tap on the cast icon and select the display.
