I purchased this TV under my wife's account but putting this review under my. Let me start by saying I was very excited for this TV to be released. I've been wanting to purchase this set since 2019 but decided to wait since I seen the "2021" version would support my future gaming needs. However as mainly purchased this TV for movie watching. I have ovwr 200 4K blu-ray's and counting. Before this set I had a 2015 Samsung 4K 3D tv. This TV was amazing however the brightness started to fade so it was time to upgrade to a newer set. I more of s brightness person rather than perfect black levels so OLED was out of the for now. Not getting another Samsung TV for awhile since they're trying to push 8K on everyone by putting all there best tech in the 8K models when theres barley any true 4K content out at this time and them not wanting to support all HDR formats. So I seen this and its up to 2800 nits of peak brightness. I did some research and watch Linus Tech Tips YouTube pre-production model video review and had some doubts. But I seen they were suppose to release this on Aug 2nd but delayed it so figured they were trying to fix issues that were prevalent at the time of that review but boy was I wrong. This TV looks Atrocious at times. I've uploaded a few pics for reference l. Take a look at the pic from the movie Alita. This is a movie that looks great during daylight and bright scenes but when it gets to dark scenes it just crushes the picture completely. With brightness set to 40 during daylight scenes this TV is supper bright and the HDR pops but when the night scene happens you cannot see anything. The TV defaults the brightness to 50 but when you raise it up to that the picture is completely washed out and unwatchable. Linus said that this TV would blow competitors such as TCL and Hisenese out of the water, let me be the first and tell you that was a lie. I recently picked up a 50inch 2020 Hisenese H8 and this TV is great. Shockingly enough it has outPerformed the Vizio. When setting the backlight from 49-50 for some reason it seems as its going from 49-70. All detail is lost and picture is washed. I have 2 4K blu-ray players. A Panasonic ub820 and a Samsung M-9500. The Samsung player is practically unusable. This TV appears to have an issue with HDR 10 and 10+ content. There's alot of judder, ghosting, and grain. You name it and it does it. My Panasonic does fine with Dolby vision but also has issues with HDR. Also, on some movies have these white lines at the edge of the black bars. Example is the piggy scene from toy story. Let's get to just regular blu-ray movies. This Tv is abs when it comes to blu-ray's. I uploaded a pic of The Hobit. Look at all of the juddee grain and ghosting in this pic. This not just this scene or certain scenes its thought out the whole movie. I have yet to watch a decent looking blu-ray. At times this TV shines and looks like a powerhouse, but more often than not it doesn't. Movies like Jurassic World, Avengers End Game look breathtaking. Now was i expecting OLED level blacks and detail? No, but i was at least expecting this to beat out my $389 Hisenese and my 2015 Samsung TV. Almost like mention from linus the built in apps seem to lose quality no matter using ethernet or wifi. You can tell when the picture degrades. Gaming. This Tv looks horrible with games when auto low latency and game mode is turned on. I play alot of COD but the input lag does not seem to be that great. The Hisenese also is outperforming this TV in that as well. Even my 7 year old son could tell the difference which is bad. In all this TV has alot of potential. Like I said with some movies this TV is a game changer but its processor can't handle all content. Maybe i got a defective pre-production unit or maybe they are not finished with the updates but I can't hold onto this TV any longer. I've had it for 3 days and will be returning on Sat. Think I will be converting over to an OLED but but will take a At the 75inch Sony X900H before I decided purchas the Sony A8H or LG CX10.

Hi Carter - thank you for your feedback. We wanted to provide some insight into the details you shared.

Industry nomenclature for video controls can be confusing. The “Brightness” control really affects the black level, where “Backlight” or “Tone Mapping” adjusts the actual brightness of the image. At 40, the black level is so low it's going to ruin shadow details, even though it will give the daytime scenes more apparent pop. You can also try turning on local contrast. Another option would be to use the Tone Mapping and/or Backlight control to help make the image appear brighter during the day while preserving the shadow details in all lighting conditions.

With regards to your movies, we recommend turning “Sharpness” to zero and “Edge Enhancement” off to eliminate the extra edges that can make the image seem detailed to the average person, but also enhance film grain and can add white edges to objects. Increase the Judder Reduction (for movies) and Blur Reduction (for video content), and enable Clear Action to improve the motion clarity and Judder in the image. The default preserves the “look” of 24-frame and to stay true to the content creator’s intent, but this can look stuttery if you’ve seen video content at higher frame rates.

Lastly, for gaming you can adjust the Picture Mode for a brighter image with greater contrast. The ProGaming menu settings can enable or disable the Game Low Latency and VRR settings, as well.

Thank you again for your review. We're constantly striving to improve our products and deliver a world class viewing experience to our customers. VIZIO

TV is amazing, flat out. for a full array, rear lit panel, this is as black as you’re gonna get for an LED. best in class for LED. HDR content you’ll see a little halo from the full array doing its magic but it’s not that bad, and worth it for the price. to do an OLED at this size you’re looking at thousands of extra dollars and the HDR brightness on this screen is amazing. intense. i often have to de-brighten it for other viewing (this is good). great TV for HDR horror watching in a dark theater setup. excellent TV, HDMI 2.1 ready for 120hz refresh, future proofed.

Owned this TV for about a month now; upgraded from a Vizio M70-D3 I had for maybe 3-4 years. I originally wanted the P85QX-H1 but that seemed to disappear and be unavailable. Of course a few weeks after I bought this, we get a release date at the end of October, so I'll be buying the 85" as well based on my experiences with the set so far. Originally, I was wanting a set to get the full benefit of the PS5 and Xbox Series X I ordered. This one fit the bill and thus far hasn't disappointed. There were some pains initially that have been fixed via firmware updates and the picture quality has actually increased with those firmware updates after recalibrating the set post update. Very impressed. You really need to use a calibration tool to get the most out of this TV, the difference between the out of the box settings and actual calibrated settings are night and day. Currently there are two other issues that need to be fixed via firmware, both of which Vizio support has stated they're fully aware of and are working on a patch. Upon start up, there is no audio - it requires you to switch a source (I hit the "Watch Free" button and then change the input back to my desired source. If you go into the menu and exit, you'll have to do it again. Inconvenient, but not a deal breaker considering the price and value of the set. The other is that the sources don't save your picture settings. I have a custom calibrated setting I'd like all inputs to use, but when I change them it changes as well requiring me to select the saved setting. Outside of that, I love the TV set. It was a definite upgrade over the Vizio M70-D3 that was originally there and look forward to it being a staple in my living room until the 85" set launches. Since then I have also purchased Vizio's elevate system, replacing a Vizio SB4031-D5 soundbar setup I had. I LOVE THAT SOUNDBAR - the rotating speakers are more than a trick and they do actually work pretty well. I haven't had a chance to run a full Dolby Atmos movie yet, but just picked up $200 worth of 4K UHD movies to run through this weekend like the Matrix Trilogy and Mad Max Fury Road - so I'm sure to have both a visual and audio treat this weekend!

There are so many great looking TVs available now. I ended up choosing the Vizio P75QX based on its brighter picture potential, ultimately picking it over a Sony X900H promising an ATSC tuner pending a firmware update. The bright picture capability really gives a lot of room to dial this thing in for the picture I want. I'll admit that I'm not a critical picture quality viewer, except for black level and screen uniformity, once I start watching content so long as a flaw isn't glaringly obvious. This TV performs very well, and even when trying to be a critical viewer, I still reach the conclusion that "this is an amazing picture." Much better off-angle viewing than I expected after reading other reviews. Maybe the colors aren't spot-on at higher angles, but I sure don't notice it and can enjoy the content. I originally bought this with the intent of using it with a streaming stick, but the Smartcast software is a pleasure to use. The Vizio WatchFree content is an unexpected bonus, and it deserves a mention. I am giving 5 stars for my particular set because it has been trouble-free, but a store display model was obviously defective. I remain a little wary about reliability. Also, gamers might want to look at other reviews as I don't game. Likes: great picture, HDR format compatibility, anti-reflection, full-featured, no image retention concern, no dirty screen effect issues, brand value, WatchFree content Neutral: remote (I like the classic style, but no backlight--you buy these great TVs to get a great experience in a dark room-- and dedicated-aka-advertisement app buttons), local array dimming has slight blooming Dislikes: sound (very serviceable though when not using component system), judder-- I am not enthusiastic about any single setting across all material, large size amplifies limitations of low resolution/low bitrate source material (not TV specific), no ATSC tuner The bottom line: I choose a TV for the display, and this P75QX is a pleasure to watch.

This tv has great quality. It does HDR and Dolby vision as well as SDR great. Although it does have some halo affect , it’s still a great picture. It does brights great and darks dark. The lack of an App Store isn’t great but the picture quality and features are unbelievable at this price point. Once you tune the settings to your liking this tv can’t be beat. I personally use calibrated dark with a few tweaks s

Amazing T.V. with one misleading deficiency so far. I see people pointing out bright spots from the active local dimming array. Please please please pay attention to the fine print.... The array ONLY kicks in when video is playing. The complaints come from menus when the array is not active. This T.V. is amazingly bright, has fantastic side angle viewing, and is great for any room with a bright window that would normally cause reflections. Very close to OLED picture quality, but with the extra brightness that helps in well lit rooms. Feels heavy, solid, and well made.

I was so exited for this tv as it was a beast but only on the paper. 4k and HDR are decent it has a motion issue when the camera moves it struggles so bad with refreshing the frame. its bright but stupid bright almost no point i have turn it down so low to be able to get a decent picture. local dimming has to stay on low other wise artifacts are all over the screen. 1080P is so bad artifacts all over the screen even on 4k and HDR. 720P forget about it. Upscaling is so bad Processor simply can not handle it. its so buggy it switches to my Soundbar automatically in the middle of the netflix movie. i have to turn off so many features to be able to get a decent picture my H9F does a lot better job. built quality is cheap. do not waist money on it.

So far everything has been great with this TV we’ve had it for about 10 days now and HD content looks great on it ,4K content is out of this world and I’m looking forward to my PS 5 so I can experience 4K 120 Hz gaming but for the time being even my PS4 Standard Edition looks pretty amazing on this TV, We got two of them one for the living room and one for our bed room and both of them are the 75 inch because that’s all that was available at the time. I wanted to get the 85 inch but it hasn’t been released yet but overall this is by far the best TV out right now in my opinion unless you got $10,000 or more to spend on a high end LG or Samsung and even if you do I feel like you’re wasting your money because this TV is right there also

Had been waiting and waiting for this tv to come out this year, when I finally was able to get the chance to purchase this I jumped on it. I have not regretted my decision yet and don’t see any reason why I would regret it. Read some of the other reviews that people put on here and I have not had any of the problems those people did. I have done everything on this from playing Call of Duty on the Xbox One X to watching movies and have not been disappointed at all. Picture quality is great and the options for picture colors and quality tweaking are great. Doesn’t take much to make this thing setup the way you it to be. Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and would and have recommended this tv to other people.

The product is a tremendous value, but the execution is somewhat lacking. The software is buggy, and the local dimming is too aggressive. Nevertheless, the picture is great and the Smartcast system works well. Additionally, the inputs are future proof. The same quality from a competing brand would be at least $500 more and even that would come with its own set of problems.

I did quite a bit of research before buying this TV, and it seemed most people agree, the picture quality is almost unbeatable, but the TV is buggy. I decided to see if I can live with the bugs, and honestly, I can. As research shows the combination of price to size to quality is incredible. Nothing about the picture quality has been a disappointment. I have a very bright room and the TV's brightness and reflection handling is amazing. Do bugs exist, yes, but they haven't been enough to temper my enjoyment at all. I've had the TV freeze twice in around 30 days. I just unplug it and plug it back in and it's fine. The only other bug I've run in to is it occasionally stops sending audio to my soundbar. I have to toggle the EArc setting to get it back. Annoying but not a big deal. One negative about the smartcast system I'll point out because I never read it before...there is no web browser. To me that was the most disappointing thing about the whole TV. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Love it, and it actually fit (box and all) in the rear of my RAV4. (although the hatchback didn't close). The TV was open box and it was difficult to locate in the store, I had to ask where it could be found.... after some searching it was located in/near customer service. No issues at all when I got it home everything was in the box except for the printed owners manual. (not an issue, it's built into the TV and available online too) Remember to have help available to lift, move, mount, etc... 80lbs isn't heavy, but it's a very large object to lift by yourself. If you aren't mechanically inclined or a handyman. NOTE: Placing these huge TVs for optimum viewing requires math skills, or an installation calculator... If in doubt hire someone! Love the picture quality and ease of use with all of my other gadgets. There is also a very active sub-reddit that is followed by Visio corporate with great information about connecting to gaming consoles.

It's a good TV...for certain things. As a PC monitor (which is why I bought it) it works pretty good. It looks basically the same as my old Samsung 4K TV but gaming is better. It does suffer from poor blacks and there is quite a bit of blooming. Apple TV works sporadically. Sometimes it works fine other times not so much. Dolby Vision very rarely works with any app or even a UHD disc player. Sometimes sound other times no sound. Almost always it's a green screen or colored bars. Occasionally it works but the picture has significant blooming. Dolby Vision is broken on this TV. I was very excited to get this TV. It didn't live up to the hype and I'll probably go back to Samsung which I've had three of and never had a single problem. They don't have Dolby Vision but since it doesn't work on this Vizio I won't miss it.

Picked the tv up on sale for a great price. Replacing a TCL 8 series 4K and picture quality is very comparable, bright when needed and great contrast. Only downside is the tv firmware still has a couple of annoying bugs in it but nothing that is a deal breaker. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.
