Really wish this system had a remote, having to use an app on your smartphone to control the settings and sound isn’t the most user friendly experience

I love the unit only thing I dislike is the app connectivity. It never stays connected and always need to go to the app to set the color when its alrwady set in the app.

Got it for 305 buck open box excellent. No issues so far. Surround sound is perfect. There is some learning to do on how to best use the vizio app equalizer.

Not great all around sound. There is also no remote so its 100% by an app on your phone. I didnt catch that when I was reading up on this unit before I bought it, The surround speakers dont give much at all. Not impressed with this unit as I have been with all my other Vizio sound bars.

I am very disappointed. First of all, who still makes wired surround speakers? I was shocked that they weren’t wireless. Secondly, the only ports on the sound bar are HDMIarc or USB. Of course, the system only comes with the HDMI cord. My last sound bar connected via optical and worked great for many years. I also hate not having a remote. It’s a pain using my phone. What are my guests and house sitters to do when they want to watch TV. The lack of a remote is just a horrible idea.

The new Vizio Elevate SE is an incredible value for the price. For a 5.1.2 system with overhead channels to cost $400 is rare, and for a that system to still sound as good as this one does is almost unheard of. Music sounds crisp, detailed, and, when you want it to, deep and thumpy. Thr sun definitely rumbles. Movies are immersive and thunderous experiences on the Elevate SE. When it comes to sound quality, nobody does it better for the price than Vizio. You’ll see that most professional review sites generally agree with this. ———— So, why all the negative reviews then?— (1) — people are complaining that it doesn’t come with a physical remote. While this is true, it’s 2025, and the remote is your phone now. The app remote is really good. It allows you to see your levels in real time. ALSO, because it’s 2025, your TV remote is the soundbar remote. This soundbar connects via HDMI eARC (or the older ARC) standard, which allows the TV to control the bar’s volume and settings using its own remote. — (2) — people seem to be complaining about the lack of optical connection. This is true. There is no optical port (because it’s 2025), only Bluetooth (to connect to phones) and HDMI eARC/ ARC (to TV). While I can see how this would upset a few, I can understand why Vizio would exclude it. Very few people use it anymore (because it’s 2025), and HDMI ARC was introduced well over 10 years ago, so the chances of a TV these days NOT having an HDMI eARC (or at least an ARC) connection are slim. People need to understand that each one of these ports costs money to add, and Vizio are the masters of high-performance for low prices, so they need to save money somewhere without sacrificing sound quality. You do the math. ——- The few people complaining just need to better research what they’re buying, imo… especially in 2025. Did I mention it was 2025? ——- Anyway, YES, I would absolutely recommend this to a friend as long as they have an ARC capable smart TV (which is all, if not almost all, smart TVs these days, because it’s 2025). At the end of the day, you buy the systems for the sound quality, and there is no doubt that this one has it.

    Garbage System

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After 18 months of owning and using this system, I have arrived at the conclusion that this is a deeply disappointing setup. Using eArc occupies a valuable HDMI 2.1 slot on my LG. In return the sound varies wildly in quality. Adding an AppleTV to my entertainment stack has only magnified these issues. Some days the volume just does not work. Volume is either on at one set volume, or muted. Some days I have dynamic, powerful audio and others flat lifeless audio. I've resorted to giving up on the Dolby Atmos features hoping that an optical audio line will work better than this awful ARC setup. Oh and the subwoofer is complete garbage that cracks up constantly no matter how I work the bass and subwoofer settings. Ultimatley the remote and menu don't feel like they actually control the sound system. This system ultimately is a poorly made piece of garbage failing in less than two years. Look elsehwere.

    Good sound, Zero Bass

Sound bar is loud, clear & surround sound, but has absolutely no bass even with the wireless subwoofer. If this soundbar had more punch, would easily give it 5 stars.
